A useful fit for

Compatible wired office documents when the declared color rate and manual duplex routine suit the work.

The main tradeoff

The dn has a different duplex package; check condition, drivers and exact regional supplies.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it print ordinary color Letter pages over Ethernet with 600 sheets and 25 ppm threshold?

Yes, within the documented compatible setup and original declared color rate.

Does it meet 30 ppm Letter color?

No. The original declared color rate is 25, distinct from 30 monochrome.

Compare the color rate separately from monochrome

The HP Color LaserJet CP4005n is an earlier print-only model with different declared rates for black-and-white and color work. Its original guide gives up to 30 pages per minute in monochrome and 25 in color on Letter and A4. Use the relevant figure for the documents you actually print.

A queue dominated by black text is a different workload from a batch of color reports. These figures are manufacturer declarations rather than our timing results. Complexity, waking and separate short submissions affect practical completion time.

The n configuration uses a manual two-sided routine

The CP4005dn adds automatic duplex hardware that is not standard on the CP4005n. That distinction matters when reports should finish without someone turning and refeeding the paper. Do not assign the dn configuration’s capabilities to an n listing.

For occasional attended work, test the manual routine with a short complete document. Check binding, page order and refeed orientation. Include the actual cover stock and any landscape pages if the intended report uses them. Repeated larger two-sided batches may justify a different equipped configuration even if the rest of the printer appears suitable.

Two supplied paper sources total 600 ordinary sheets

The main cassette holds 500 ordinary sheets and the multipurpose tray adds 100. An optional cassette is a separate accessory. Check what the offer includes and whether each source feeds the intended stock consistently.

Letter, Legal and A4 are documented for the ordinary sources. Adjust guides and matching size/type settings whenever the paper changes. Keeping suitable alternate materials ready can reduce repeated unloading, even when total maximum capacity is not important.

Envelopes and specialty materials need their designated route and smaller capacities. A broad accepted-size range does not make every label, coating or envelope construction suitable. Try the intended stationery in a small quantity before planning a repeated batch.

USB and Fast Ethernet are the supplied paths

The exact configuration has computer USB and embedded Ethernet. Wireless uses an optional external print-server arrangement rather than an included radio. Plan the physical connection and check current compatible driver support on the actual computers.

For a shared network queue, agree the address and paper defaults, then send representative text, charts and multipage files. Check reconnection after restarting the equipment. A printer name appearing in discovery does not establish that the full document settings are correct.

The four-line display controls printer functions, but this model has no glass scanner, original feeder, copy function or fax. If incoming paperwork needs digitizing, include another capture device or compare a multifunction machine.

Use the recommended workload for recurring planning

The manufacturer’s recommended monthly range is more useful for sustained work than the much larger duty ceiling. Count typical months and peak days, including refills and output collection. Neither declaration predicts the remaining service life of an individual older machine.

Private-job features should also be checked as a complete supported routine if they matter to the office. Confirm the installed memory and software, submit a representative document and verify the intended hold and release behavior rather than relying only on a historical feature list.

Inspect the complete offered unit

Check the exact model and electrical plate, installed supplies, feeding and representative color output. Black and the three colors are separate consumable checks, alongside other service items. Full-cartridge page declarations cannot reveal remaining toner or establish current running cost.

Allow practical cover, tray, output and cable access when choosing a location. Select the CP4005n when compatible wired color work and its manual two-sided tradeoff fit the routine. Compare another configuration when automatic duplex, included wireless or a proven present mobile workflow is essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The main specification declares 30 Letter pages per minute in monochrome and 25 in color. Recommended monthly output is 2,000–7,500 pages, distinct from the 80,000-page maximum duty figure.

Paper handling

A 100-sheet multipurpose tray and 500-sheet cassette are supplied. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 are supported; another 500-sheet cassette is optional. The n uses manual duplex. Envelopes follow the separate multipurpose routine.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

USB and 10/100 Ethernet are supplied. Wireless needs an optional external print server. A generic computer requirement mentioning parallel does not establish an installed parallel connector.

Supplies and declared yields

Match the exact regional cartridges and service items. Full-cartridge yield is not remaining installed toner, a current price or a running-cost estimate.

Software and support

The n has 128 MB standard memory, expandable to 512 MB in the original guide. Listed private-job features do not establish their exact operating conditions here. This is print-only equipment.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier US CB503A reference. Closed-body dimensions and weight are not assigned from extended-tray or package figures. Check the actual electrical plate and operating space.
