Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4025n (CC489A#BGJ; US configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A commercial wired office printing 2,000–7,500 recommended monthly pages, with large ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 reserves and manual second-side handling.

The main tradeoff

Automatic duplex belongs to the dn. There is no scanner or included Wi-Fi, and permanent stored jobs need an optional disk. FCC Class A configuration is intended for commercial environments.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a commercial wired office use temporary PIN release for color Legal documents with 600 ordinary sheets ready?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled, exact US configuration, compatible Ethernet Personal Job PIN driver and suitable Legal stock in both included inputs. This is temporary held output; it does not promise the optional disk used for permanent stored jobs.

Explore this need in the finder →
Will this n automatically print A4 on both sides from a USB computer?

Fails. The original n column has manual driver-supported duplex only. The separate dn automatic-duplex hardware is not included; this n requires returning the printed stack to Tray 1.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can it provide Wi-Fi scanning and copying?

Fails both the included wireless and multifunction requirements. It is explicitly print only, and Wi-Fi requires separate accessory hardware. Neither a color display nor job-storage security supplies a scanner.

A commercial color printer with manual duplex

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4025n is an earlier print-only color laser for a shared wired office. It offers a 600-sheet included input configuration, Gigabit Ethernet and a genuine temporary Personal Job PIN routine through a compatible computer driver. Its deciding limitation is manual two-sided printing: the automatic duplexer belongs to the different dn model.

HP's exact US page identifies CC489A#BGJ, explicitly marks it discontinued and describes it as an FCC Class A commercial-environment device. This is not presented as a residential printer. The reviewed US electrical configuration is 110–127 V at 50/60 Hz; separate 220–240-V editions are not dual voltage. Check the actual option code, plate, condition and software before choosing an earlier unit.

There is no scanner, copier, fax, glass or original feeder. A color graphical control panel is simply the interface, and a security paragraph about protecting stored data does not add document-capture hardware.

Use the actual two included inputs

Tray 1 is a 100-sheet multipurpose input and Tray 2 is a 500-sheet main input. Both accept ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. With the same selected stock in both, the included reserve is 600 sheets for any of those sizes. Heavy stock and its physical thickness affect practical capacity, so respect the load indicators.

The optional lower feeder and cabinet increase capacity but are not included in this n configuration. The optional postcard insert is also a separate accessory. Its ability to support stacks of small cards cannot be assumed from an empty Tray 2. The 500-sheet top output bin is a distinct destination, not another source of blank paper.

Open Tray 1, extend its support and adjust the guides lightly around the stack. Keep paper under the guide tabs and below the load-level indicators. In Tray 2, squeeze the length and width adjustment latches, set the actual size and avoid overfilling. Do not open the tray while it is in use.

Check the panel's type and size confirmation after closing a tray. Wrong settings can draw a job from an unintended stock or cause a size error. For default one-sided portrait letterhead, Tray 1 loads face down and bottom first. Tray 2 loads face up with the top at the left side of the tray. Alternative Letterhead Mode and image rotation can change the required arrangement.

Two-sided jobs require a return to the printer

In the original Windows driver, open Properties or Preferences, choose Finishing and select Print on both sides manually. Print the first side, retrieve the output stack and place it printed side up in Tray 1. Press OK at the panel when prompted to complete the second side.

The original Mac manual-duplex procedure also uses Tray 1 for the second half. It specifically removes unused blank paper from that tray and returns the printed stack face up with its bottom edge entering first. Follow the exact compatible driver's prompt and binding choice rather than using the automatic-duplex instructions elsewhere in the shared manual.

If unattended two-sided production is essential, choose a configuration whose automatic duplex hardware is positively documented. The CP4025n remains a manual-duplex choice even though the series brochure discusses paper-saving automatic duplex in its neighboring dn column.

Suitable envelopes use a one-sided Tray 1 routine, up to ten. The loading table keeps them face down, with the exact top-edge position depending on short-edge or long-edge feed. Select the real envelope size and media type. Do not treat an ordinary paper duplex procedure as envelope support.

Temporary PIN jobs do not promise permanent disk storage

Personal Job holds the submitted work until it is requested at the printer. In Windows Job Storage, choose Personal Job and the optional PIN to print setting, then enter four digits. At the panel, open Retrieve Job, select the user and job, choose the print action and enter the PIN. The original Mac Job Storage routine also provides a PIN field.

The manual independently describes this temporary routine. It attaches the optional hard-disk prerequisite to Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job, not the ordinary Personal Job steps. The standard n therefore has a supported temporary PIN arrangement with the appropriate driver, without claiming that an encrypted disk is in its box.

The temporary Windows Personal Job procedure says the job is deleted after printing. Turning off also removes Personal, Proof and Hold and Quick Copy jobs. Repeated job names can overwrite earlier work, and storage pressure can remove older jobs. Permanent reusable private storage remains an added-hardware arrangement.

Connect the computer to the right interface

Direct USB uses a separately purchased A-to-B cable no longer than two meters. The original installer asks for that cable at the appropriate step. Ethernet instead connects the embedded Jetdirect interface to the actual network. Print its configuration page, identify its assigned address and install the matching computer queue.

The embedded web server supports administration; it is not a scanning application. Wireless networking needs additional hardware and is excluded from the included plans. HP's exact US listing says mobile print capability is unsupported. Old Bonjour discovery and network security features do not establish AirPrint, Mopria or a wireless radio.

Historical operating-system lists do not guarantee current driver compatibility. Verify the exact print controls and Personal Job support on the intended computer, especially if those features are essential to the purchase.

Plan supplies and space around the actual configuration

HP recommends 2,000–7,500 monthly pages, separately from the 100,000-page maximum duty. Its maker rating is up to 35 one-sided Letter ppm in black or color, separately 35 on A4. These are source declarations, not measured speed or manually duplexed throughput.

Exact cartridges are CE260A black, CE261A cyan, CE262A yellow and CE263A magenta. Declared ISO/IEC 19798 averages are 8,500 black and 11,000 composite color pages. CE260X high-capacity black is listed for CP4525 models only in this original and is not borrowed. Replace the single-use CE265A toner collection unit when prompted rather than emptying it.

The body is about 21.3 inches wide, 20.6 deep and 16.5 high. The brochure's 84.6-lb hardware weight excludes cartridges. Fully opened doors and trays expand documented width to about 30.1 inches; allow cable, loading and service access as well.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact US model page and original brochure declare up to 35 one-sided Letter ppm in black or color; original manual separately confirms 35 A4 ppm for CP4025. Recommended 2,000–7,500 monthly pages differs from maximum 100,000 duty. CP4525 speed/volume is not borrowed. No measured speed or manual-duplex throughput claimed.

Paper handling

Included 100-sheet Tray 1 plus 500-sheet Tray 2 support ordinary Letter/Legal/A4, totaling 600 when both hold the selected stock. Capacity depends on thickness and actual fill limits. Optional lower feeder/cabinet and postcard insert are excluded; output 500 is separate. The n has manual duplex only, independently distinguished from dn in original configuration and brochure columns. Windows Finishing/Print on both sides manually returns printed stack face up to Tray 1 and uses panel OK; original Mac manual route removes blank paper and returns stack face up/bottom first to Tray 1. Default one-sided portrait letterhead is Tray 1 face down/bottom first or Tray 2 face up/top at left. Alternative Letterhead Mode and image rotation affect loading. Guides touch without bending, stack below marks and exact panel type/size confirmation required. Envelopes up to ten use Tray 1 face down, with exact edge position depending on long/short-edge feed, one-sided only.

Scanning arrangement

Exact US page explicitly says print only. No scanner, copier, fax, flatbed or document feeder. Color graphical control panel and security/data-storage wording do not establish color scanning or any physical capture route.

Computer and mobile connections

Included computer USB 2.0 and Jetdirect Gigabit Ethernet are independently confirmed for exact n. USB cable is separate, A-to-B and no longer than 2 m under original instructions; connect when compatible installer requests it. Network procedure connects actual cable, prints configuration page and uses its address for the queue. EIO expansion and optional wireless accessories are not included Wi-Fi. Exact US model listing says mobile print capability not supported; AirPrint/Mopria false for this documented configuration. Bonjour discovery is not a mobile-service proof. No USB-host scanning or network scanner inferred.

Supplies and declared yields

Original exact parts and brochure establish CE260A black, CE261A cyan, CE262A yellow, CE263A magenta and CE265A toner collection unit. Continuous ISO/IEC 19798 declared black average 8,500 and composite color 11,000 pages apply separately from installed remainder. Original explicitly restricts CE260X high-capacity black to CP4525 models; not included for CP4025n. Replace single-use toner collection unit when prompted, do not empty/reuse. Actual CE265A maker page independently crosswalks exact CC489A#BGJ. No current price, tested quality, lifetime HP+ or cartridge-remainder claim.

Software and support

Original Windows Personal Job procedure explicitly supports a four-digit PIN without attaching the optional-disk prerequisite. Original Mac also permits Personal Job Use PIN to Print. Optional disk is specifically required for Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job. Included temporary PIN true uses a compatible actual driver, not a RAM-only assumption or borrowed encrypted disk. Original temporary Windows procedure says deletion after print; power-off deletes Personal/Proof and Hold/Quick Copy, repeated names may overwrite and space pressure can delete old jobs. Permanent reusable private storage is optional. Verify current compatible driver and exact feature support; historical OS list is not a guarantee.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact HP US CC489A#BGJ page explicitly marks discontinued and FCC Class A commercial-environment use rather than residential. Earlier-reference opt-in required. Documented US low-voltage edition is 110–127 V at 50/60 Hz, separately 220–240-V editions; not dual voltage, actual option code/plate must be checked. Exact n body is 21.3×20.6×16.5 inches. Original brochure labels 84.6 lb without cartridges, while manual same figure has no weight footnote; retained explicit brochure basis. Fully opened width is 30.1 inches, plus practical cable/loading/service space. No current-stock promise. Brochure photo explicitly shows CP4025dn and is not approved for n.
