Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the base model scan a color Legal original from the glass to a folder with 600 Legal input sheets ready?
Yes, with a compatible administrator-configured Ethernet folder and the documented supplied paper arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →Does base CC419A include fax?
No. Analog fax is optional on the base model; the f and fskm packages differ.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its two-sided feeder establish single-pass Legal capture?
No. Two-sided operation is confirmed, but that exact mechanism and size combination is not established.
Explore this need in the finder →Compare the base CM4540 with the equipment actually supplied
The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CM4540 MFP combines color printing, copying and document capture. The base CC419A configuration starts with two paper sources and a 50-sheet document feeder. It is worth considering as a wired office station when both output and incoming paper matter.
Do not confuse the base package with the CM4540f or CM4540fskm. Those suffixes change included equipment. A tall family photograph with additional paper handling and finishing is not a dependable inventory of what a base-model offer contains.
Six hundred supplied sheets are the starting paper arrangement
The base supplies a 100-sheet multipurpose input and a 500-sheet main cassette. The ordinary-paper total is 600 sheets, rather than the larger family maximum. Extra feeders and the finishing mailbox are separate purchase and installation decisions.
For routine office work, decide what each paper source will hold. Keeping an agreed stock and size in each source can make shared printing more predictable. The benefit depends on actual jobs rather than simply maximizing the number of trays.
The US specification lists Legal paper in the ordinary inputs. Automatic two-sided output is included, but the selected material still needs compatible media and driver settings. Check a complete sample, especially when covers, preprinted stock or changing orientation are involved.
The glass offers a useful path for Legal originals
The documented glass accepts originals through Legal size. That matters for forms that should not be forced through feeder rollers and for occasional longer originals needing a flat surface. Allow enough room above the machine to use the lid comfortably.
The feeder can process two-sided documents. That should not be treated as a promise about a particular single-pass mechanism or every supported original size. Confirm the required document routine on the actual machine before planning repeated batch capture around it.
Check the resulting file as well as whether pages feed. Look for complete edges, correct orientation, color settings and page order. A short representative batch is a more useful acceptance check than scanning a single clean sheet and assuming every workflow is ready.
Set up shared-folder delivery as an office workflow
Ethernet provides the established network path. Saving a scan to a folder needs an administrator-configured compatible destination, correct access and a reachable shared location. Agree where files should go and who should be able to retrieve them.
Test the saved file after changing network or computer settings. A printer that remains available for output may still be unable to reach a folder whose credentials or permissions have changed. Clear destination names can reduce confusion at the touchscreen.
The walk-up USB memory-device option is separate from a direct computer scanning connection. A USB socket alone does not establish scanning into whichever desktop application happens to be installed.
Make optional functions part of the purchase check
Fax is optional on the exact base CC419A. A requirement for analog fax therefore needs confirmation of the correct accessory and telephone setup. The fax included with other suffixes should not be carried into this model's feature list.
USB and Gigabit Ethernet are supplied connections; wireless requires additional equipment. Check current driver support on the actual office computers. The embedded hard disk and security options also deserve a workflow check if private job release is essential.
Judge the earlier machine by condition and recurring work
The original recommended monthly range is for recurring workload planning. It is different from the maximum duty figure and does not predict the condition of a particular earlier unit. Inspect the scanner, feeding, output, supplies and installed accessories.
Measure the real installation with trays, covers and cables accessible, and verify the regional electrical plate. Choose this base package when its supplied paper sources and wired capture route cover the work; compare other configurations when included fax, finishing or a smaller physical station is more important.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original US declaration is 42 Letter or 40 A4 pages per minute in monochrome and color. Recommended monthly output is 5,000–9,000 pages, distinct from 175,000 maximum duty. No measured result is claimed.
Paper handling
Base CC419A supplies 100 + 500 ordinary sheets. Letter, Legal and A4 are documented across the original US and regional sheets. Automatic duplex hardware is included; its paper-specific range is unconfirmed here. Additional feeders, cabinet and finishing mailbox are optional.
Scanning arrangement
A 50-sheet feeder processes two-sided originals; its exact mechanism and per-size method remain unconfirmed. The glass supports ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. Computer delivery uses a configured compatible Ethernet network folder with valid access. USB memory access does not establish computer USB scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
Computer USB and Gigabit Ethernet are supplied; wireless is optional. Analog fax is optional on the base CC419A, unlike other suffixes. Check current driver, server and connection compatibility.
Supplies and declared yields
Match exact regional CE260A/CE264X black and CF031A/CF032A/CF033A color supplies, plus collection, transfer and fuser parts. Full-cartridge yield does not establish remaining life or running cost.
Software and support
The original guide lists 1,280 MB non-upgradeable memory and an embedded secure hard disk. A brochure PIN claim does not establish the exact held-job routine here. Advanced sending, OCR and third-party authentication are not assumed included.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier commercial CC419A. The measurement basis of published body width is unresolved, so body dimensions are unassigned. The original US weight is 120.5 lb with cartridges. Check the actual regional electrical plate; voltage editions are not dual voltage.
