Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it scan both sides of Legal documents in color, provide fax and offer 3,200 aggregate input sheets?
Yes with the complete supplied package and compatible configured Ethernet folder/fax arrangements. An exact paper-size capacity needs the separate confirmed range.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it include a documented Wi-Fi Direct printing arrangement?
Yes, with compatible device/software and correct Direct setup. This does not establish computer scanning over Direct.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the unverified US high-capacity cassette be counted to establish 3,200 Legal input sheets?
No. Only 1,200 Legal sheets are established in the reviewed size-specific inputs here.

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M682z combines color printing, copying, fax and a 150-sheet single-pass document feeder. Its supplied paper and finishing arrangement makes it a substantial office station rather than an occasional desktop printer.
The useful question is whether the office regularly needs both batch capture and organized paper output. Identify the documents, people and destinations involved before treating a larger engine or input total as a benefit on its own.
Single-pass capture supports repeated two-sided batches
The feeder captures both sides in a single pass, with EveryPage detection and enhanced Flow capture features. The pull-out keyboard can help with data entry at the station, while the glass provides a separate route for suitable originals.
Use representative documents to check page order, color, edges and missing pages in the saved file. Include a complete two-sided batch. Detection and OCR features can assist the workflow, but important text and page completeness still deserve inspection.
Choose handling according to the actual original. Ordinary office-size capture and the separately described longer feeder range are not reasons to put delicate or unsuitable material through rollers. Confirm the required method and document conditions together.
Configure where the file goes
Ethernet scanning to a network folder needs a compatible reachable share, a valid path and appropriate access. A clear destination on the panel can make repeated work easier when the complete route has been configured and tested.
Check that staff can retrieve the file and understand its name. Test the destination again after changing a server, computer or credentials. The printer remaining available for output does not prove that a saved-folder route is still accepting files.
Software and service options are part of that setup. A brochure listing a downloadable scanning application does not mean every computer route is ready out of the box. Check current support for the actual system and intended task.
Read paper capacity by the stock needed
The supplied inputs total 3,200 ordinary sheets across the multipurpose source, two smaller cassettes and the high-capacity input. That aggregate can reduce repeated loading when the installed sources support the paper used.
Do not transfer the same total automatically to every size or regional cassette. Check the high-capacity source's actual stock range, while counting the smaller documented sources separately. This matters when longer forms dominate rather than ordinary office paper.
Automatic two-sided output is included, but a job still needs supported size, weight and settings. Confirm binding and a complete representative document. The larger aggregate is not an envelope capacity or permission to run arbitrary specialty materials through duplex.
Keep Direct printing separate from network capture
The exact M682z includes Wi-Fi Direct hardware alongside USB and Gigabit Ethernet. A supported Direct print connection can serve a compatible device, but it is a different arrangement from an administrator-configured network-folder scan route.
Check the precise wireless mode and installed configuration if cable-free placement is essential. Infrastructure networking, Direct printing and mobile services should not be treated as interchangeable. Analog fax also needs its supported telephone setup. The original US listing says USB and fax cables are purchased separately.
Inspect the earlier unit as complete office equipment
HP marks the exact US model discontinued. Inspect repeated feeding, representative color output, capture, finishing, storage and supply condition. Verify current drivers and any service dependencies rather than relying on a historical compatibility list.
Measure space for the paper inputs, output, keyboard, scanner lid and service access. Check the actual regional electrical plate. Choose the M682z when its complete capture and paper routine serves recurring work; compare a smaller arrangement when those functions would mostly remain unused.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The exact US manufacturer declares 60 Letter monochrome/color pages per minute;56 A4 is a different paper basis. Recommended monthly output is 2,000–17,000 pages, distinct from 120,000 maximum duty. Scanner image rates are separate; no independent speed test is claimed.
Paper handling
Supplied input is 100+550+550+2,000 ordinary sheets,3,200 aggregate. Only 1,200 sheets count for exact Letter/Legal/A4 capacity here because the US high-capacity cassette’s size range is unconfirmed; the EMEA A4-only HCI is not substituted. Automatic duplex hardware is included, with paper-specific duplex limits unconfirmed. Envelopes use the instructed multipurpose routine.
Scanning arrangement
A 150-sheet single-pass two-sided color feeder with EveryPage and a flatbed cover ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 within the reviewed 216×356 mm standard range. Longer ADF declarations are separate from these ordinary duplex claims. Configured Ethernet network-folder delivery needs a compatible reachable share and valid access. The sheet lists downloadable HP Scan/TWAIN software, but direct USB computer scanning remains unconfirmed here.
Computer and mobile connections
Computer USB and Gigabit Ethernet are supplied; exact M682z includes Wi-Fi Direct/BLE hardware. Infrastructure Wi-Fi is not established from the contradictory generic wireless line and optional 2900nw reference, so no base infrastructure-Wi-Fi plan is created. Direct printing is separate from network-folder scanning.
Supplies and declared yields
The original sheet identifies 655A standard and 657X high-yield cartridges. Match exact regional parts plus transfer, collection, ADF and staple items. Declared full-supply yield is not remaining toner, a current price or a running-cost estimate.
Software and support
The original sheet lists an encrypted minimum 320 GB disk,1.5 GB printer memory plus 1 GB scanner memory. Exact private-job PIN operating conditions are unconfirmed from the feature list alone. Verify actual current driver, network share and any enhanced capture/service requirements.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US J8A17A#BGJ reference, marked discontinued/commercial Class A. US body 25.87×25.87×50 inches, 168.1 lb; allow paper sources, keyboard, lid, output and service access. EMEA 220-V sheet is not a US power guarantee. Check the actual electrical plate; voltage editions are not dual voltage.
