M652n (J7Z98A#BGJ)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

Compatible office color work where the substantial supplied trays matter more than unattended two-sided output.

The main tradeoff

The exact n model lacks automatic duplex; included radio and expanded input must not be assumed.

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it print ordinary color Legal documents over Ethernet with 650 sheets?

Yes, using the documented compatible ordinary-paper arrangement.

The n model suits shared color work that does not require automatic duplex

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M652n is an earlier print-only model with substantial supplied paper handling and wired connections. Its important limitation is specific: the exact n configuration does not include automatic two-sided printing. Choose it with the document routine in mind.

If most work is single-sided, that tradeoff may be manageable. If repeated reports need both sides without someone refeeding paper, compare the M652dn instead. A general family feature description should not substitute for the exact configuration.

Two supplied sources hold 650 ordinary sheets

The standard setup combines a 100-sheet multipurpose tray with a 550-sheet cassette. That can reduce refills and provide separate sources for suitable ordinary materials. Match guides and software settings whenever the stock changes.

Letter, Legal and A4 are in the documented ordinary range. Envelopes use the designated multipurpose route with their own capacity, orientation and size/type settings. They should not be treated as a cassette-sized batch or as ordinary duplex paper.

Optional feeders expand the installation, but must actually be included in the offered machine. Check accessories and feeding condition rather than calculating capacity from the tallest family photograph or an unverified expanded-configuration listing. Keeping different office stocks ready may be more useful than maximizing a single total.

Plan around a wired desktop or network connection

USB and Ethernet are supplied. Wireless and Direct arrangements require the appropriate optional hardware and supported setup. A family page describing mobile convenience does not establish a radio in the base M652n.

For a shared queue, agree the network address, driver and paper defaults. Test a representative file from the computers people actually use, including reconnection after a restart. Recognizing the printer name on a network is only the first part of a reliable document path.

The easy-access memory-device port is separate from computer USB and can be controlled by the administrator. Verify supported files and enablement if walk-up printing is part of the intended routine.

Private desktop jobs have a documented release process

The original guide describes Personal Job mode in supported desktop drivers. A user can protect a job with a PIN or password and release it through the device’s job-storage controls. That is a specific workflow, separate from a network login.

Check that a representative submitted job stays held, releases as intended and is handled correctly afterward. Personal jobs are temporary, including loss on power interruption. Optional persistent storage and broader office authentication systems are separate configuration choices.

Use workload guidance alongside the declared rate

The exact US Letter declaration is up to 50 pages per minute for monochrome and color. It is a manufacturer engine figure rather than our measured job-completion time. Short separate jobs and complex files can behave differently from a continuous batch.

The recommended monthly range is more useful for recurring workload planning than the much larger duty ceiling. Count typical volume and peak days, including the time spent loading paper and collecting output. The ceiling is not a remaining-life estimate for an older unit.

Check the offered unit and complete color supply system

Black and the three colors are separate supplies, with standard and high-yield replacements. Use the exact cartridge and part references, then check the installed supplies. Declared full-cartridge yields cannot reveal remaining toner or present running cost.

Inspect the exact model and electrical plate, feeding and representative color output. Leave practical tray, cover and cable access beyond the closed cabinet. The M652n fits compatible shared color work when its wired placement and manual two-sided tradeoff are acceptable; it cannot replace a scanner or an unsupported mobile arrangement.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

HP declares 50 Letter or 47 A4 pages per minute in monochrome and color. Recommended monthly output is 2,000–14,000 pages, distinct from the 100,000-page maximum duty figure.

Paper handling

A 100-sheet multipurpose tray and 550-sheet main cassette are supplied for ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. The exact n lacks automatic duplex. Tray 1 holds up to ten envelopes under the instructed size, type and manual-feed settings. Extra feeders are optional.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

USB and Gigabit Ethernet are supplied. Wi-Fi and Direct require appropriate optional Jetdirect equipment. Computer USB and the easy-access host socket are separate; an administrator may control host access.

Supplies and declared yields

The original guide identifies 655A standard and 656X high-yield supplies. An ambiguous yellow heading should not replace exact cartridge/part matching. Check regional supplies and installed condition; declared yield is not remaining toner or current cost.

Software and support

Compatible desktop Personal Job mode supports PIN/password release at the panel. Temporary jobs can be lost after printing or power interruption; permanent storage and the optional 500 GB disk are separate. The M652 has a graphical display and keypad, unlike the M653 touchscreen.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier US configuration. Original closed body is 20 × 18 × 19 inches; allow additional tray, cover and cable access. Weight remains unassigned across configuration differences. Check the actual electrical plate and software support.
