Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a configured Ethernet office print color Legal documents duplex, capture both Legal sides in one pass and use PIN release with 100 included Legal sheets?
Qualifies with earlier models enabled, compatible desktop controls, a tested shared-folder destination and suitable telephone service if fax is used. Legal uses the included multipurpose tray; both glass and single-pass feeder support that original size.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the standard machine keep 350 sheets of Legal paper ready?
Fails. Only the included 100-sheet multipurpose tray accepts Legal; the 250-sheet standard cassette does not. A separately purchased optional feeder is not included capacity.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the base Flow package provide Wi-Fi computer scanning?
Does not qualify. Wireless networking requires an optional accessory, while this assessment establishes the configured Ethernet folder route for computer files.

The HP LaserJet Enterprise color flow MFP M575c is an earlier color document station whose strongest distinction is its scanner. A 100-page, dual-head feeder captures both sides in one pass, while the Legal-size glass accommodates originals unsuitable for feeding. Built-in optical character recognition, a pull-out keyboard and EveryPage double-feed detection add useful capture tools beyond the related dn and f configurations.
The deciding paper limitation is easy to miss: although ordinary standard input totals 350 sheets, Legal stock only fits the included 100-sheet multipurpose tray. The 250-sheet cassette stops at Letter/A4-class dimensions. An office requiring a large unattended Legal reserve must check a separately fitted optional feeder rather than treating the headline capacity as universal.
This review covers discontinued US CD646A#BGJ, documented for 110–127 VAC at 60 Hz. HP identifies it as FCC Class A commercial equipment. Assess the actual machine, installed accessories and present software compatibility as part of an office installation.
Capture the original before choosing a destination
Letter, Legal and A4 originals are documented for the feeder and glass. The single-pass feeder differs from the smaller reversing mechanism in the M575dn/f. Color scanning, color copying and color printing are independently supported here; the presence of a color screen alone would not establish those functions.
For a network-folder file, place the original face down on the glass or face up in the feeder and adjust its guides. Select the prepared folder or enter the reachable path, choose a file name and format, then check More Options. In particular, specify the original's sides before starting. A duplex feeder does not know which job settings you intended.
The administrator must first enable Save to Network Folder through the Embedded Web Server and prepare a compatible share, access permissions and credentials. A Quick Set can simplify later selection. Historical operating-system examples do not prove that an arbitrary current server configuration will accept the connection.
Embedded OCR creates searchable or editable files, but HP describes it as intended for occasional use. Verify important results and batch completeness. The keyboard, auto-orientation and blank-page suppression can assist a prepared process; they are not a guarantee that every damaged original feeds or every character is recognized correctly.
Automatic duplex printing has size-specific input limits
The standard inputs hold 100 plus 250 sheets of ordinary 75-g/m² paper. Letter and A4 can use both, while Legal uses only Tray 1. Automatic print duplex supports Letter, Legal and A4. The optional 500-sheet Tray 3 is excluded from the supplied count, as are the 250-sheet output bin and 100-page original feeder.
Choose the actual size and paper type in the driver and match the tray configuration. Ordinary Tray 1 loading is face down, short top edge first; preprinted stock has separate simplex, duplex and letterhead-mode diagrams. The main cassette's preprinted orientation also changes for duplex. Avoid overfilling and let the guides touch without bending the stack.
Envelopes use Tray 1, up to ten, with their own face-down orientation and media settings. Follow the diagram for the envelope's feed direction rather than copying a plain-paper duplex orientation. Envelope support does not establish automatic two-sided envelope printing.
Wired computer functions and mobile printing are separate
Computer USB and Gigabit Ethernet are included. Wireless networking is optional. The front USB host port can handle supported flash-drive files, but it is different from the computer printing port and does not prove desktop USB scanning.
The reviewed computer-file route is configured Ethernet folder delivery. AirPrint and Mopria provide supported local network printing, with the mobile device on a suitable shared network; they do not inherit the desktop scanner or private-job controls. Historical cloud references are not a promise of continued service.
Compatible desktop drivers document Personal Job or Stored Job with PIN protection and panel retrieval. That is a specific job-release routine, separately established from the included encrypted disk. Analog fax needs suitable telephone service, and the walk-up convenience stapler handles a prepared stack rather than automatically finishing every printed job.
Workload, supplies and space need their own checks
HP declares up to 31 Letter pages per minute in black or color, separately 30 ppm on A4. Recommended print volume is 2,000–6,000 pages monthly. The current exact US page lists 80,000 maximum duty; the 2012 guide lists 75,000. Neither maximum replaces the recommended range, and feeder image rates are not print speeds.
The original US box lists 507A toner: roughly 5,500 black pages and 6,000 per color. Replacement 507X black is declared around 11,000 pages under the stated ISO/IEC 19798 basis. Actual yields vary, and remaining toner in an earlier offer is unknown.
The exact US closed-body width is 21.6 inches, versus 26.1 in the older series table; depth is 21.8 and height 23. Allow much more room with Tray 1 and the keyboard extended, and plan handling for 105 pounds with toner installed. Choose this Flow configuration for its documented office capture process after checking condition, access and compatibility.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Up to 31 black or color Letter ppm, separately 30 A4 ppm. Recommended monthly print volume is 2,000–6,000; current exact US maximum duty 80,000 differs from 2012 guide 75,000 and neither is the recommended workload. Original guide gives Flow scan rates separately: 42 black/32 color Letter pages per minute simplex and 52 black/31 color Letter images per minute duplex; the Chinese operating guide black duplex entry differs, so no combined capture-speed claim is used for matching.
Paper handling
Included 100-sheet multipurpose and 250-sheet cassette total 350 ordinary sheets at 75 g/m². Letter/A4 capacity 350; Legal only uses included Tray 1, capacity 100. Optional 500-sheet Tray 3, 250-sheet output and 100-page ADF do not count as included blank input. Letter/Legal/A4 automatic print duplex positively confirmed. Set actual size/type and follow separate letterhead, simplex and duplex orientations. Ordinary Tray 1 stock loads face down, short top edge first; guides touch without bending and stack stays below fill line. Up to ten envelopes use Tray 1 only and the appropriate face-down long-/short-edge diagram; no envelope duplex claim.
Scanning arrangement
Exact Flow c includes 100-page dual-head single-pass automatic duplex color feeder, Legal-size glass, EveryPage ultrasonic double-feed detection, embedded OCR and physical keyboard. Letter/Legal/A4 glass and feeder routes are documented. Actual original-side menu selects one or two; glass prompts manual flipping, not automatic glass duplex. Computer-file route is administrator-enabled Save to Network Folder on Ethernet, reachable compatible share/path/credentials and job settings; direct computer USB scanning remains unconfirmed. Embedded OCR is for occasional use, not a high-volume recognition guarantee.
Computer and mobile connections
Included computer USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, separate USB host interfaces and analog fax. Infrastructure wireless and peer radio accessories are optional and excluded. AirPrint/Mopria use the supported shared network; AirPrint explicitly excludes USB. Mobile printing does not establish desktop capture, exact input capacity, automatic duplex controls or PIN release.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact US original box has 507A CE400A black approximately 5,500 pages and 507A CE401A cyan, CE402A yellow, CE403A magenta approximately 6,000 each. Replacement 507X CE400X black approximately 11,000; declared yields follow ISO/IEC 19798 and actual yields vary. These are original/replacement declarations, not remaining toner or a live cost per page. Included walk-up stapler is separate from automatic output finishing; analog fax needs suitable telephone service.
Software and support
Exact original Flow guide documents Windows Job Storage and Mac Personal/Stored Job with four-digit PIN and panel retrieval. Included minimum 320-GB encrypted disk is independently confirmed; encryption and administrator login are separate from print-job release. Compatible driver and configuration required. Enable scan sending in the Embedded Web Server before use, select reachable network folder, file name/type and More Options including original sides; historical OS lists require current verification. No dn/f-only guide or retired cloud service is borrowed.
Electrical edition and setup
Discontinued exact US CD646A#BGJ, 110–127 VAC at 60 Hz; other regional editions are separate and must not be voltage-converted. Exact US closed body 21.6 × 21.8 × 23 inches, maximum 36.7 × 24.8 × 23 with Tray 1/Legal extension and keyboard extended. Older 2012 series width 26.1 differs and is retained as a source difference. Weight 105 lb with toner and no tray media, not 116.4-lb package. FCC Class A commercial use; plan actual handling and scanner/tray/cable access.
