The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M577f is an earlier color laser configuration for a wired office that needs printing, copying, scanning and fax. HP's US product page identifies B5L47A#BGJ and marks the model discontinued. This review covers its documented 100–127-volt, 60-Hz configuration.

The included 100-page document feeder uses dual scan heads to capture both sides in one pass. This is positive hardware evidence, separate from automatic printing duplex. A color touchscreen is not the reason color printing is credited; the exact printing specifications separately rate both black and color output.

Standard capacity depends on the paper size

The standard feeds are 100-sheet Tray 1 and 550-sheet Tray 2, with capacities stated at 75 g/m². For Letter and A4, the included total is 650 ordinary sheets. Legal is different: HP's exact tray/component table supports it in Tray 1 and the optional 550-sheet feeders, but not the standard Tray 2. Standard Legal capacity is consequently 100 sheets.

This distinction matters for a long Legal job. A family maximum of 2,300 sheets requires optional trays and does not describe the original package. Even a smaller 650-sheet requirement fails for standard Legal input. Inspect the actual installed feeders and their configuration before relying on an expanded machine.

HP positively lists Letter, Legal and A4 for automatic print duplex. Use the compatible driver's two-sided control and correct media settings; the documented duplex stock range is 60 to 163 g/m². Envelopes are a separate routine, up to ten in Tray 1 with the Envelope and manual-feed settings. General tray acceptance does not establish duplex envelopes or every special stock.

Choose the connection for the complete workflow

The included interfaces are USB device printing and 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Use a compatible computer driver for automatic duplex and Personal Job or Stored Job PIN release. The guide documents assigning a four-digit PIN and entering it at the panel. An administrator password is not a substitute for that document-release routine.

Computer scan delivery is credited through the wired network after an administrator configures a compatible SMTP email gateway or shared folder with the necessary credentials. Test the actual recipient or folder. The documented USB flash-drive scan feature is an enabled walk-up port and a removable-file workflow; it is not evidence of scanning through a USB cable to a computer. USB computer printing therefore does not borrow the network scan route.

AirPrint and Mopria are listed for the exact US model. They can use the Ethernet-connected printer when the mobile device reaches the same network or subnet. That does not mean the printer includes a wireless radio. Optional Jetdirect wireless accessories are excluded, and the z model's integrated Wi-Fi Direct is not assigned to the f. Mobile printing is kept separate from computer-driver PIN and duplex controls that were not established for that mobile routine.

Scanning, fax and consumables need their own checks

The ADF's documented original range reaches 8.5 by 14 inches and supports Letter, Legal and A4 single-pass duplex capture. A flatbed is also present, but a separate exact glass-size specification was not established from the material read. A Legal ADF rating is therefore not relabeled as Legal glass. Use appropriate originals, remove staples and verify scan output.

Included analog fax still requires a suitable telephone line and configuration. Ethernet does not supply that service. The convenience stapler is a local aid, not automatic in-line finishing. Check both fax and staple operation if they are part of the intended work.

HP rates one-sided output up to 40 Letter pages per minute in black or color, separately 38 A4. These are maker claims, not scan speed or our test. Recommended volume is 2,000 to 7,500 monthly pages, distinct from the 80,000-page maximum duty cycle. The 508A replacements declare about 6,000 black or 5,000 composite color pages; 508X declares about 12,500 black or 9,500 composite color under ISO/IEC 19798 continuous printing.

Check remaining toner, sample output, the configuration page and current driver/firmware support on the offered machine. The closed body is about 18.98 by 19.84 by 22.95 inches and 84.5 pounds with cartridges; opening and service space is greater. A complete M577f can suit a defined wired color office when the configured network scan and analog-fax requirements, actual paper capacity and earlier hardware condition fit the work.
