Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible Wi-Fi desktop print color with automatic duplex when paper size is left flexible?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled and the supported HP desktop driver. The actual driver procedure confirms automatic duplex; specific automatic paper-size limits remain unknown here.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it scan signed pages because the HP app description mentions scanning?
Fails. This exact model is print-only and has no physical scanner. App capabilities do not add document capture hardware.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its maximum duty figure justify a recommended 3,000-page monthly workload?
Fails. HP recommends up to 2,500 monthly pages, separately from its maximum duty figure.
Explore this need in the finder →Color output with a desktop two-sided routine
The HP Color LaserJet Pro M254dw suits compatible small-office computers that need color printing and automatic paper turning. It provides direct USB, Ethernet, infrastructure Wi-Fi and true Wi-Fi Direct. Its deciding scope limit is simpler: this is a print-only machine, without a scanner or fax.
HP marks the exact US T6B60A#BGJ reference discontinued. Check the offered unit, supplies, electrical plate and actual current driver before relying on it. A documented earlier feature set is not evidence of present stock, measured reliability or continuing support for every historical cloud service.
The touchscreen does not add a physical scanner
The original parts show the paper inputs, toner access, controls and connections of a printer. Generic app language about scanning does not create a document glass or feeder. If signed pages must become computer files, plan a separate scanner or compare a complete multifunction alternative.
The walk-up USB port can print supported files from a flash drive. That host socket is different from the USB connection used by a computer. Confirm that the intended file format and settings are available rather than assuming every socket performs every task.
Check the actual driver's duplex controls
The original Windows procedure selects Print on both sides in the driver's Finishing settings. The OS X procedure uses the installed HP driver's Layout binding option. That can suit routine reports without manually returning the first-side stack.
The guide explicitly warns that these desktop controls may not be available through AirPrint. Therefore, the finder keeps mobile printing separate from the positively documented desktop duplex arrangement. Confirm the real application, driver, binding and stock with a complete representative document.
Exact automatic paper-size limits remain unconfirmed here. A general two-sided loading table can also include manually re-fed paper, so it is insufficient to turn every supported print size into an automatic-duplex promise. A selected exact size must have its own positive support.
One cassette and a single-sheet priority route
The standard inputs are a 250-sheet cassette and a single-sheet priority slot. The normal paper reserve is 250 sheets; the attended priority path does not create another unattended supply position. The original loading instructions positively include Letter, Legal and A4 in these routes.
Legal loading extends the cassette roughly 2.2 inches beyond the front. Leave that working space when placing the printer on a shelf or near a walkway. The published body dimensions alone do not describe every loaded-paper arrangement.
Envelopes have a separate one-sided routine: one through the priority slot or a small batch through the cassette, with the specified driver and orientation. Ordinary-sheet input capacity is not an envelope count. Match the paper source and type before sending a longer job.
Choose shared networking or Direct deliberately
Infrastructure Wi-Fi works through the intended router, with documented 2.4 and 5 GHz operation. Ethernet provides a wired network alternative. AirPrint uses a shared suitable subnet, while Mopria is also positively listed for mobile printing.
Wi-Fi Direct instead connects a supported device to the printer's own Direct signal. Basic printing is established, but desktop duplex, envelope and exact-paper controls are not automatically transferred to that route. Check the intended device and application, including how it returns to its ordinary network afterward.
A private-printing marketing label is likewise insufficient to establish an included driver-to-panel PIN release routine. That capability remains unknown here. If confidential held jobs are essential, compare an arrangement with a documented complete procedure.
Use the workload and supply figures with their limits
HP declares up to 22 Letter pages per minute in black or color. Recommended recurring output is 150 to 2,500 monthly pages; the 40,000-page maximum duty figure is different. These are maker declarations, not measurements made for this review.
Introductory cartridges have lower declared yields than the 202A and 202X replacements. Match the regional parts and read the exact dynamic-security chip condition before comparing supplies. No current running cost or remaining toner is calculated.
Choose the M254dw for proven local color printing and an appropriate desktop duplex routine. Compare another complete configuration when physical capture, a specific unverified duplex size or guaranteed mobile duplex controls are essential.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Exact US manufacturer declaration is up to 22 Letter ppm in black or color, without borrowing an automatic-duplex or first-page rate. Recommended 150–2,500 monthly pages is distinct from maximum 40,000 duty. No measured speed or endurance result claimed.
Paper handling
Included Tray 2 holds 250 sheets at 75 g/m². The separate single-sheet priority slot is attended and excluded from the normal paper reserve, so minimum-capacity matching uses 250. Both original loading lists positively include Letter/Legal/A4. The Legal cassette extends about 2.2 inches beyond the front. Automatic desktop duplex is confirmed, but exact automatic size limits remain unestablished; general two-sided orientation lists also cover manual handling and do not fill duplex sizes. Envelopes use the specified one-sided loading, one in Tray 1 or up to five in Tray 2.
Scanning arrangement
Exact functions are print only, with complete original parts establishing no scanner, copy glass, original-document feeder or fax. A generic HP Smart app scanning heading and stray Scan to USB menu entry do not add absent capture hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
Computer USB 2.0, Fast Ethernet 10/100, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz infrastructure Wi-Fi and true Wi-Fi Direct. Walk-up host USB accepts supported files and is separate from the computer connection. Current compatible software, router/subnet and actual Direct settings need checking.
Supplies and declared yields
US exact page identifies 202A black CF500A (~1,400 pages), CMY CF501A/502A/503A (~1,300), and 202X black CF500X (~3,200), CMY CF501X/502X/503X (~2,500). Introductory black is about 800 and composite CMY about 700; measurement basis not independently established here. Dynamic-security wording requires an HP original chip and warns non-HP chips may stop working. No cost or remaining-yield claim.
Software and support
Original Windows driver uses Finishing > Print on both sides; OS X uses the HP driver Layout binding control and expressly warns this may be unavailable through AirPrint. AirPrint/Mopria shared-network printing is recorded separately without desktop duplex borrowing. Wi-Fi Direct basic printing is confirmed, but exact sizes, capacity, envelopes and duplex controls for that route remain unknown. Marketing Private Print does not establish an included driver-to-panel PIN workflow. Retired cloud services are not promised.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US T6B60A#BGJ is explicitly discontinued and specifies 110–127 V AC at 50/60 Hz; no universal-voltage inference. Body is 15.4×16.5×9.7 inches, with larger maximum/open dimensions; unit weight 32.6 lb has unestablished cartridge basis. Shipping weight 38.2 lb is not used for body fit.
