Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an earlier base LaserJet 1300 print monochrome Legal pages over USB with 260 ordinary sheets?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled, a compatible computer driver and correct separate cable. Its genuine ten-sheet priority feed adds to the 250-sheet main tray.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the base 1300 include the n model’s Ethernet print server?
Fails included Ethernet. The original manual explicitly makes that network card optional for the base 1300, and it uses the same LIO slot as the parallel adapter.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the manual’s 1,000-page monthly average establish a recommended monthly maximum?
Fails a selected recommended-volume requirement. The source labels that number as average and separately gives maximum duty; a recommended range has not been established.

The HP LaserJet 1300 is an earlier monochrome print-only laser for a compatible USB computer or legacy parallel workstation. It includes a 250-sheet main tray and a ten-sheet priority feed. The deciding limits are manual two-sided printing and no included network print server.
HP's exact US product listing identifies Q1334A#ABA and explicitly says discontinued. This assessment concerns the documented 110–127-volt, 50/60-Hz configuration. A separate 220–240-volt edition has its own regional power requirements. The original manual warns not to convert operating voltage; inspect the actual printer's label.
The base 1300 differs materially from the 1300n. The n configuration includes a Jetdirect print server card, while the base model's network and wireless options are accessories. No scanner, copier or fax hardware is included in either print-only architecture.
USB and legacy parallel need their real host setup
The original connection section establishes USB directly to a compatible computer. It separately describes an IEEE 1284-compliant parallel cable attached through the LIO parallel adapter in the rear slot. The adapter and correct host interface are part of that legacy setup; no USB converter is assumed.
A network card occupies the same LIO location as the parallel adapter. The original instructions describe inserting the appropriate card, rather than using two independent built-in sockets. This review's ordinary base configuration does not borrow the n model's included Ethernet card.
Install a driver actually compatible with the intended computer. The original 1300 section lists PCL 5e, PCL 6 and PostScript 2 emulation options, but its historical Windows and Mac environment is not a current compatibility guarantee. The exact support page says the USB cable is purchased separately.
AirPrint, Mopria and PIN-held job release are unconfirmed. A Confidential watermark labels a printed page; it does not hold the job pending a release code. The attended manual-feed Go-button routine likewise serves paper control rather than authenticated storage.
260 ordinary sheets, with the optional feeder excluded
The main tray holds 250 sheets of 20-lb/75-g/m² paper and the priority feed holds ten. The original common feeds support the documented paper range, while its booklet routine explicitly names Letter, Legal and A4. Those ordinary sizes therefore support the 260-sheet included computer configuration.
Load ordinary paper face up with its top toward the printer and adjust the guides. Before adding stock, remove the existing paper and straighten the combined stack. The priority feed prints before the main tray, which can support a separately loaded first-page stock.
The original 1300 configuration permits an additional 250-sheet feeder. It is not included here: the expanded arrangement must not be counted as standard capacity. The base model's included total remains 260.
For one supported envelope use the priority feed; for a batch use the main tray, up to the original limit of 30 envelopes. Load print side face up with the top along the left guide; if the flap is on a short edge, feed that edge first. Match the actual size and Envelope type in the compatible driver.
The original envelope routine opens the rear straight-through door. Sheets leave that path in reverse order and do not form an automatic stack: allow the surface below or remove each as it exits. That needs access space beyond the closed printer.
Manual duplex requires a second trip through the printer
For ordinary paper, close the rear output door, enable manual duplex in Device Settings and select the two-sided option in Finishing. Print the first side, remove unused input paper, straighten the output and reload it printed side down with the bottom edge entering first. Click OK on the computer to print side two.
Heavy media uses a separately instructed rear-output route and driver choice. Follow the routine for the actual paper and driver, rather than assuming a single reload rule covers every job. This machine does not turn sheets automatically.
The maker maximum is 20 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 19 A4. Special media can slow output. The manual lists 10,000 pages as maximum monthly duty and 1,000 as an average, not a recommended monthly range. A selected recommended-volume requirement therefore remains unconfirmed.
Exact supplies and space limits
The original ordering table identifies Q2613A for approximately 2,500 pages and Q2613X for approximately 4,000. Its historical discussion uses 5% text coverage, while HP's later exact 1300 cartridge-yield page separately declares those replacement figures under ISO/IEC 19752. The differing measurement descriptions remain distinct. Do not substitute the 1150's Q2624A cartridge or assume remaining toner in a used machine.
Width and depth are approximately 16.3 and 19.1 inches. Original and current family height and weight figures differ, so strict limits for those remain unconfirmed. Allow paper, rear-output, interface and cartridge access. Choose the base 1300 for a prepared direct computer routine; included network sharing or automatic duplex requires another documented configuration.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Original exact 1300 configuration declares up to 20 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 19 A4. Maximum duty 10,000 monthly pages and stated average 1,000 are distinct; average is not treated as a recommended maximum, so recommendation fields remain unknown. Special-sized media slows output. No measured speed, quality or noise claim.
Paper handling
Included 250-sheet enclosed main tray plus genuine ten-sheet priority feed, total 260 ordinary 20-lb/75-g/m² sheets. Actual original common feeds accept the documented 3×5–8.5×14-inch range; ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 are explicitly named in the booklet routine, not inferred from maximum alone. Main and priority ordinary loading top toward printer/face up, adjusted guides and straightened stack. Priority handles one envelope, main up to 30 supported envelopes as separate jobs, face up with top along left guide; short-edge flap enters first when present. Open rear straight-through path for envelopes, select actual Envelope type/size and allow exiting sheets to drop or remove each; no automatic output stacking on that rear path. Original driver manual duplex only, not an automatic mechanism.
Scanning arrangement
Actual original monochrome print-only architecture and black cartridge. No scanner, feeder, flatbed, standalone copier or fax. A network print server, optional wireless adapter or generic support app does not add paper capture.
Computer and mobile connections
Exact base 1300 Q1334A#ABA includes USB and the standard parallel LIO adapter, requiring a compatible computer, correct driver and IEEE 1284 cable for parallel. The network print server is optional for the base 1300 and included only on the 1300n. A network card and parallel adapter use the same rear LIO slot, not simultaneously installed independent sockets; optional wireless and Bluetooth hardware are excluded.
Supplies and declared yields
Original 1300 Q2613A approximately 2,500 pages or Q2613X approximately 4,000; the exact original ordering table maps both to the 1300 series. Original historical life discussion uses text at 5% coverage, density 3 and EconoMode off. The later exact HP 1300 yield declaration separately uses ISO/IEC 19752 for these replacement figures; measurement bases are not conflated. Actual supplied or remaining toner is unknown. Do not substitute the 1150 Q2624A; no live cost per page.
Software and support
Use an actually compatible computer printer driver and correct cable. Original standard-paper manual duplex closes rear straight-through output, enables manual duplex in Device Settings, selects Print on Both Sides in Finishing, prints side one, removes unused paper, straightens and reloads printed side down/bottom edge first, then clicks OK on the computer. Heavy-media routine uses rear output and a different selected path. Driver/OS availability varies; original historical Windows/Mac lists do not guarantee a present computer. A Confidential watermark or attended manual-feed Go button is not secure PIN-held release. AirPrint, Mopria and PIN release remain unconfirmed.
Electrical edition and setup
Documented low-voltage 110–127-V 50/60-Hz regional edition; separate 220–240-V 50/60-Hz edition is not a universal-voltage promise. Original exact electrical sections warn not to convert operating voltage. Body width 16.3 and depth 19.1 inches agree between original and current 1300 family support, but original height 10.0/18.6 lb with cartridge differs from current family 9.5/19 lb. Strict height/weight remain unconfirmed; allow paper support, rear output, interface and cartridge access beyond closed dimensions. No accessory-feeder height or shipping/carton weight included.
