A useful fit for

A prepared wired computer queue using the actual supplied 200m card and compatible driver for modest monochrome batches.

The main tradeoff

No automatic duplex or paper capture. Ethernet and a parallel adapter share one LIO slot; optional wireless hardware is excluded, while recommended volume and mobile/PIN features remain unconfirmed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can an earlier 1300n print monochrome Legal documents over its included Ethernet server with 260 ordinary sheets?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled, the supplied Jetdirect 200m installed in the LIO slot, a working wired network and compatible computer driver. No optional wireless server is required for that wired route.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the n model complete automatic two-sided Letter documents over Ethernet?

Fails automatic print duplex. The n addition is the print server; the original routine still requires reloading the first-side stack and confirming side two on the computer.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the stated 1,000-page monthly average satisfy a recommended-volume requirement?

Fails that essential because a maker recommended monthly maximum has not been established. The original average and maximum duty figures are different measurements.

A network model whose print server occupies a real slot

The HP LaserJet 1300n is an earlier monochrome print-only laser with an included Jetdirect 200m Ethernet print server and USB computer connection. Its ordinary input totals 260 sheets. The deciding restrictions are manual two-sided printing, no scanner and a single LIO interface slot that must be configured for the intended connection.

HP's exact US product listing identifies Q1335A#ABA and explicitly says discontinued. This assessment concerns the documented 110–127-volt, 50/60-Hz configuration. A separate 220–240-volt edition is region-specific. The original manual warns not to convert voltage, so inspect the actual older unit's rating.

The n package's included print server is its useful difference from the base 1300, which lists network hardware as an option. Optional wireless servers and the additional paper feeder are excluded from this ordinary configuration.

The included 200m card needs its own network setup

The original model section adds a Jetdirect print server to the 1300 features, and its dedicated appendix identifies the included card specifically as the 200m. The ordering section classifies it as Fast Ethernet for LIO peripherals. This establishes a wired 10/100 network arrangement, not Gigabit or built-in Wi-Fi.

The server seats in the printer's rear LIO slot until its latches engage. Connect the actual network cable and install the compatible printer software on each computer using that network. The original server's Test button prints a configuration page containing its IP address.

The 200m embedded web server opens through that address. Consult the administrator before changing network settings, and expect to reconnect using the new address if it is changed. That local management interface does not establish authenticated PIN-held document release.

The parallel adapter described for the 1300 family uses the same slot as the server card. Do not expect the parallel adapter and included Ethernet card to occupy independent sockets simultaneously. This assessment's normal n network arrangement keeps the supplied 200m installed; it does not invent another adapter in the package.

USB computer printing is separately documented for every model in the guide. Provide the correct cable, which the exact US support record lists separately, and an actually compatible driver. Historical Windows and Mac lists are not present compatibility guarantees. AirPrint, Mopria and PIN release remain unconfirmed.

Included paper capacity is 250 plus ten

The enclosed main tray holds 250 sheets and the priority feed holds ten, using 20-lb/75-g/m² ordinary paper. The original common feeds cover the documented paper range and explicitly name Letter, Legal and A4 in the booklet routine. The normal computer-printing arrangement supports 260 ordinary sheets for each of those sizes.

Load stock face up with its top toward the printer, adjust the guides and straighten the stack before adding more. The priority feed is used before the main tray, which can help with a separately loaded cover or special first page.

The optional additional 250-sheet feeder is not included. A larger expanded total cannot satisfy an included-capacity requirement. Similarly, the ordinary sheet total is not a count of envelopes.

For one supported envelope use the priority feed; a main-tray batch can contain up to 30 under the original routine. Load print side face up with the top along the left guide, feeding a short-edge flap first if present. Select the actual size and Envelope type in the driver.

Open the rear straight-through output for envelopes. Its pages leave in reverse order and drop below rather than forming an automatic stack. Provide a suitable surface or remove them as they exit, with room behind the printer.

A network job still needs manual duplex handling

The n suffix does not add an automatic duplexer. For normal lightweight paper, close the rear output door, enable manual duplex in the compatible driver and select its two-sided setting. Print side one, remove unused input paper and straighten the output stack.

Reload printed side down with the bottom edge entering first, then click OK on the computer for side two. Heavy media has a separate instructed rear-path setting. The shared queue does not remove that attended handling stage or make the two-sided job automatic.

The original maker speed is up to 20 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 19 A4. Special media can slow printing. The source's 10,000-page maximum duty and 1,000-page monthly average are not a recommended monthly range. Recommended-volume matching remains unconfirmed.

Keep cartridge identity and body limits precise

The original ordering table maps Q2613A and Q2613X to the 1300 series, with approximately 2,500 and 4,000 replacement pages. Its historical life discussion uses 5% text coverage; HP's later exact cartridge-yield declaration separately specifies ISO/IEC 19752 for those figures. Neither declaration establishes remaining toner in an older unit, and the 1150's different Q2624A is not substituted.

Width and depth are approximately 16.3 and 19.1 inches. Conflicting original and current family height/weight figures leave strict limits for those unconfirmed. Allow paper, rear-output, server/cable and cartridge access. Choose the 1300n for a prepared wired monochrome queue; automatic duplex, wireless/mobile protocols or paper capture need different positive evidence.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original 1300-series maximum 20 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 19 A4, explicitly applying to 1300n configuration. Maximum duty 10,000 monthly pages differs from stated average 1,000; no recommended monthly range is established. Special media reduces speed; no measured output/quality/noise claim.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet enclosed main tray plus genuine ten-sheet priority feed, total 260 ordinary 20-lb/75-g/m² sheets. Actual original common feeds accept the documented 3×5–8.5×14-inch range; ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 are explicitly named in the booklet routine, not inferred from maximum alone. Main and priority ordinary loading top toward printer/face up, adjusted guides and straightened stack. Priority handles one envelope, main up to 30 supported envelopes as separate jobs, face up with top along left guide; short-edge flap enters first when present. Open rear straight-through path for envelopes, select actual Envelope type/size and allow exiting sheets to drop or remove each; no automatic output stacking on that rear path. Original driver manual duplex only, not an automatic mechanism.

Scanning arrangement

Actual original monochrome print-only architecture and black cartridge. No scanner, feeder, flatbed, standalone copier or fax. A network print server, optional wireless adapter or generic support app does not add paper capture.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact US 1300n Q1335A#ABA includes Jetdirect 200m Fast Ethernet 10/100 in the rear LIO slot plus separate USB. The same LIO slot takes either the network card or a parallel adapter; do not assume both installed or an extra parallel adapter supplied. Normal included network setup keeps the 200m, uses a working wired network and compatible computer driver. Optional wireless/Bluetooth hardware is excluded; mobile protocols and PIN release remain unknown.

Supplies and declared yields

Actual original 1300-series ordering table maps Q2613A approximately 2,500 pages and Q2613X approximately 4,000. Original historical life discussion uses 5% text coverage, density 3 and EconoMode off; later exact HP 1300 cartridge-yield page separately declares ISO/IEC 19752. Those measurement bases remain distinct. Exact 1300n belongs to documented 1300 series, not the 1150 Q2624A supply. Supplied or used remaining toner unconfirmed, no live cost per page.

Software and support

Use an actually compatible computer printer driver and correct cable. Original standard-paper manual duplex closes rear straight-through output, enables manual duplex in Device Settings, selects Print on Both Sides in Finishing, prints side one, removes unused paper, straightens and reloads printed side down/bottom edge first, then clicks OK on the computer. Heavy-media routine uses rear output and a different selected path. Driver/OS availability varies; original historical Windows/Mac lists do not guarantee a present computer. A Confidential watermark or attended manual-feed Go button is not secure PIN-held release. AirPrint, Mopria and PIN release remain unconfirmed.

Electrical edition and setup

Documented low-voltage 110–127-V 50/60-Hz regional edition; separate 220–240-V 50/60-Hz edition is not a universal-voltage promise. Original exact electrical sections warn not to convert operating voltage. Body width 16.3 and depth 19.1 inches agree between original and current 1300 family support, but original height 10.0/18.6 lb with cartridge differs from current family 9.5/19 lb. Strict height/weight remain unconfirmed; allow paper support, rear output, interface and cartridge access beyond closed dimensions. No accessory-feeder height or shipping/carton weight included.
