Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the native Ethernet setup scan and copy loose Legal originals in color capture mode?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled and compatible full computer software. The simplex ADF supports Legal; copying still produces monochrome output, and remote shared print queues do not inherit scanning.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a Legal original be scanned on the glass over USB?
Fails. The exact glass is Letter/A4, while Legal scanning is supported through the document feeder.
Explore this need in the finder →Will it automatically print both sides of Letter pages without reinserting the stack?
Fails. The 3052 uses driver-assisted manual duplex; automatic print duplex belongs to other family configurations.

The HP LaserJet 3052 combines black-and-white laser printing, copying and color scanning with a 50-sheet original feeder and Letter/A4 glass. Its useful fit is an established USB or wired-network setup whose computer can still run the required full-feature software. Automatic two-sided output, fax and modern wireless convenience are not supplied by the 3052 configuration.
HP's exact US reference identifies Q6502A#ABA and currently says not available. This is assessed as an earlier reference because its documented setup and software are from the 2006 generation, without turning that availability wording into an asserted formal discontinuation date. A surviving support page is not a guarantee of current stock or present operating-system compatibility.
The declared one-sided print figure is up to 19 Letter pages per minute, separately 18 ppm on A4. HP recommends 500–2,000 printed pages monthly. Its 7,000-page maximum duty figure is a different ceiling, not the recommended routine or our measured endurance result.
Use the feeder for Legal originals and the glass for bound work
The original exact-model table gives the 3052 a Letter/A4 flatbed and a 50-sheet ADF with a confirmed scan maximum of 8.5 by 14 inches. Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary loose originals fit the one-sided feeder route. Legal feeder support does not make the glass Legal size.
Load the feeder face up, leading edge first, with the first page on top, and set its guides against the stack. Keep staples, clips, correction material, photos and fragile originals out of that path. For a book, photograph or suitable smaller original, empty the ADF and place the item face down on the glass using its marked alignment.
The documented computer scan drivers explicitly do not support duplex scanning. This assessment therefore provides one-sided feeder and glass routes, without inventing an automatic two-sided computer scan or borrowing the larger 3390's copying controls. Color capture is real even though printed and copied output is monochrome.
Native networking differs from sharing a USB print queue
The 3052 includes a Hi-Speed USB interface and a 10/100Base-T TCP/IP network port. Install a genuinely compatible full solution on the computer rather than assuming that a working print driver also installed scanning. The original software reference supports computer scanning through both a direct USB installation and the printer's native network arrangement.
Windows printer sharing is different. Another computer using the shared queue can print, but it does not inherit the directly connected computer's scanning functions. Network cables and the computer USB cable also need an actual package check; HP's exact USB-cable field says to purchase it separately.
HP LaserJet Scan can save a file or attach a scan through a compatible email application. That email routine uses the computer's software, not an independently configured printer SMTP gateway. The panel's Scan To destinations require setup and running HP ToolboxFX. Network panel initiation is off by default; configure the destination rather than expecting the USB one-touch behavior automatically.
260 sheets include the small priority input
The 250-sheet main input and ten-sheet priority slot total 260 ordinary sheets on the original 80-g/m² capacity basis. The documented standard paper table includes Letter, Legal and A4. The 50-sheet original feeder and 100-sheet output bin are separate quantities.
Two-sided printing is manual: select the supported driver option, print the first side and follow its reinsertion instructions for the second pass. It does not qualify when automatic duplex is essential. Check the actual driver and media settings before making a batch of preprinted forms.
For suitable envelopes, HP recommends the priority input. The original media table allows up to ten and specifies a maximum 90-g/m² envelope weight. Choose an appropriate envelope type and size; avoid damaged stock, exposed adhesive, windows and metal fasteners. A capacity headline does not remove those media restrictions.
Check the electrical plate, supplies and installation space
The original configuration distinguishes 3052 print/copy/scan from the 3055's additional fax modem. The 3052 does not gain fax from shared software menus. AirPrint, Mopria and private PIN release remain unconfirmed rather than inferred from Ethernet or RAM.
The original guide lists Q2612A black toner at approximately 2,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752 conditions. That is a declared cartridge yield, not toner remaining or a current cost per page. Separate 110–127 V and 220–240 V editions are documented, so inspect the actual voltage plate. Exact US and original-guide depth/height figures differ; measure the installed assembly and leave room for the glass lid, feeder, paper supports and cables.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker one-sided speed up to 19 Letter ppm, separately 18 A4 ppm. Recommended monthly print volume 500–2,000 pages is separate from maximum duty 7,000. No measured speed, scan image rate or inferred sustained workload.
Paper handling
Included main input 250 plus priority slot ten totals 260 ordinary sheets on the original 80-g/m² basis. Exact standard table supports Letter, Legal and A4; ADF originals 50 and output 100 are excluded. Automatic print duplex is not supplied; driver-assisted manual duplex needs a second pass. Original priority-input media table allows up to ten envelopes, maximum 90 g/m², with media-condition restrictions. No optional expansion or envelope duplex is assumed.
Scanning arrangement
Exact 3052 glass is Letter/A4; 50-sheet ADF confirms ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 simplex originals within the documented 8.5 × 14-inch scan maximum. Generic custom-feed line of 15 inches does not override the exact 14-inch scan maximum. Color capture positive. Actual TWAIN and WIA computer drivers expressly do not support duplex scanning; no computer duplex route. Global physical duplex mechanism remains unconfirmed rather than inferred from software alone. Feeder originals face up/leading edge first/first page on top; photos, books and fragile originals use suitable glass placement.
Computer and mobile connections
Included Hi-Speed USB and native 10/100Base-T TCP/IP networking support the original full-feature computer print/scan arrangements. A remote Windows shared USB print queue supports printing only, not inherited scanning. No wireless accessory, AirPrint or Mopria route is inferred. USB cable separately purchased according to exact US cable field. Present driver/OS compatibility requires confirmation.
Supplies and declared yields
Original exact 3052 configuration uses black Q2612A cartridge declared approximately 2,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. Supplied print cartridge is listed, but no remaining toner, current stock, measured yield, price or running cost is inferred. Interpolated scan figures are not optical resolution.
Software and support
Use compatible full software for HP LaserJet Scan, TWAIN or WIA. Save files or use the supported computer email client; this is not autonomous SMTP delivery. Panel Scan To needs configured destinations and HP ToolboxFX running; network initiation is off by default, with different one-touch behavior from direct USB. Readiris OCR is a separate installation. No included private PIN release procedure is established. Exact 3052 has no fax; shared fax menus belong to other variants.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US Q6502A#ABA maker reference says not available, not an independently observed formal discontinued notice. Earlier classification reflects the documented 2006 legacy setup; no retirement date is invented. Original guide lists separate 110–127 V and 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz editions without exact option crosswalk; mains unknown. Exact US width 19.6 inches and weight 27.4 lb, cartridge basis unspecified. US depth/height 14.9/16 inches differ original 406/393 mm, so those scalar limits remain unknown; verify actual assembly and all operating access.
