LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602dn (CE992A#BGJ; US configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A prepared commercial computer network needing ordinary Letter, Legal or A4 automatic duplex within the 3,000–15,000 monthly recommendation.

The main tradeoff

The extra x paper tray is absent. Temporary PIN jobs have deletion limits; mobile printing needs a separate network route with its own unconfirmed job settings.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a wired computer automatically duplex Legal with 600 sheets and temporary PIN jobs for 15,000 monthly pages?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled, the included duplexer and a compatible computer driver. Use supported ordinary media and closed rear output; Personal Job/PIN has temporary deletion and memory conditions.

The M602 package for automatic two-sided office documents

The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602dn fits a prepared commercial computer queue that needs automatic two-sided monochrome documents and temporary PIN release. It includes the duplex accessory, Gigabit Ethernet and a USB computer connection. Its ordinary input remains 600 sheets; choosing dn does not add the extra paper tray supplied with M602x.

HP's exact US page identifies CE992A#BGJ and marks it discontinued. The actual original configuration table confirms that CE992A adds automatic duplex to the M602n equipment. This is an earlier assessment of the documented US low-voltage edition, without a stock, condition or current-driver guarantee. HP specifies commercial Class A use.

Configure the duplex job before leaving it unattended

The original size table positively supports automatic duplex for Letter, Legal and A4. The ordinary duplex-media range is 60–120 g/m². In the compatible Windows driver, use Finishing and Print on both sides, with the correct size/type. The documented Mac route instead selects the binding under Two-Sided.

The rear output must be closed. Opening it directs sheets face up through the straighter route and makes the duplexer unavailable. That explains why leaving the printer in an envelope configuration can interrupt an otherwise supported two-sided routine. The front input's acceptance of labels or envelopes does not make them automatic-duplex media.

For duplex letterhead without an optional finishing unit, the front input uses face down with the bottom entering first. The lower input uses face up with its bottom edge toward the tray front. Check the real binding and orientation with the chosen document; instructions for a fitted stapler are a separate arrangement.

Count the supplied inputs rather than an expanded maximum

The supplied inputs are a front 100 and lower 500, totaling 600 ordinary sheets at the original 20-lb/75-g/m² basis. Both actual size columns support Letter, Legal and A4. Full capacity for one size assumes both inputs contain it; mixed paper divides the count, and heavier stock reduces the actual stack.

Adjust the lower tray's side and rear guides, keep the stack flat below the height indicators and slide the tray fully home. Extend the front support and keep paper below its tabs. Do not fan or load during printing. Accept or correct the panel's size/type prompt so that it matches the job rather than leaving an unintended Any Size/Any Type front-tray selection.

The reviewed lower-media limit uses the exact US 120 g/m² rather than a generic guide table's 135. Extra inputs and the 75-envelope feeder are optional. The normal front input holds up to ten suitable envelopes face up, short postage edge leading into the printer, with the rear output open and extended.

Use each USB connection for its documented purpose

A compatible computer can connect over included Gigabit Ethernet or the rear Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface. For Ethernet, the original setup uses the address on the Embedded Jetdirect configuration page. For USB, use an appropriate A-to-B cable, with the original recommendation of at most two meters, and connect when the installer prompts. Check current host compatibility separately from the historical software list.

The front walk-up host socket is different. The original lists PDF, PRN, PCL, PS and CHT files and warns that not every storage accessory is recognized. That feature does not establish scanning to USB or support for every file. The numeric keypad and hardware integration pocket also do not include an optional card reader or added software solution.

Release a temporary job with the actual PIN procedure

Choose Personal Job in the compatible driver's Job Storage tab, then PIN to print and a four-digit code. At the device, Retrieve Job from Device Memory selects the user and job and requests the PIN before printing. The original procedure positively supports that temporary feature without relying on an encrypted disk package.

Personal jobs delete after printing and at power-off. Same-name work can replace an earlier job, while limited space can remove older jobs. Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job have separate optional-hard-disk conditions. A product-page storage field does not change this review into a promise of encryption, indefinite retention or permanent archiving.

Keep network mobile printing separate from USB desktop work

The actual guide documents network AirPrint, with a possible firmware update, and the exact dn record lists Mopria certification. Connect the printer to Ethernet and use a compatible phone or tablet on the same reachable local network through an access point. The printer does not need a wireless card for that arrangement.

USB desktop printing alone does not provide AirPrint or Mopria. Mobile paper sizes, capacity, automatic duplex and PIN behavior were not independently established for the separate mobile route. The computer driver's capabilities are therefore not borrowed. Built-in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct are also absent from the reviewed normal package.

Match the workload and inspect the physical unit

HP recommends 3,000–15,000 monthly pages, distinct from the 225,000-page maximum duty. Original one-sided speed is up to 52 Letter pages per minute, separately 50 A4. These are declarations, not a new test. The machine includes no scanner, feeder, copier or fax.

Exact US fields list 16.3-by-20-by-15.7-inch dimensions and 57.8 pounds, separating packaging and open dimensions. A generic guide combines n/dn values, so verify the actual assembly and access space. Check its 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz plate and CE390A or CE390X supply; a replacement's declared yield does not establish installed remainder, stock or running cost.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact M602dn original declares up to 52 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 50 A4. Exact US recommended 3,000–15,000 monthly pages is distinct from maximum duty 225,000. No measured or duplex rate inferred.

Paper handling

Exact M602dn includes front 100 plus lower 500, total 600 ordinary 20-lb/75-g/m² Letter/Legal/A4 sheets, and automatic duplexer. Actual automatic-size column supports all three; ordinary duplex 60–120 g/m², compatible driver Finishing/Print on both sides, rear closed. Duplex letterhead without finishing: front face down/bottom first, lower face up/bottom toward front. Labels/envelopes/transparencies excluded from auto duplex. Set guides and panel size/type, keep flat below limits and do not fan or load while printing. Lower limit uses exact US 120 versus generic guide 135; thicker media reduce capacity. Up to ten front envelopes: face up/short postage edge leading, rear open and extended. Third input, 75-envelope feeder and finishing equipment optional.

Scanning arrangement

This is monochrome print-only hardware without a document scanner, flatbed, automatic document feeder, copy function or fax. A color control-panel display does not make color output or add color scanning.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Gigabit Ethernet and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 support a real compatible computer driver. The rear computer connection uses A-to-B USB; the original recommends no more than 2 m and connecting only when installation prompts. The front walk-up host socket is a separate file-printing route, not the computer cable port. Wireless LAN and Wireless Direct accessories are optional; no built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct is presumed.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact M602dn replacements are CE390A and CE390X, declared about 10,000 and 24,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. High-yield X is a separately purchased replacement; no full installed yield, current remainder, stock, price or cost per page inferred.

Software and support

The original compatible computer driver provides Personal Job with PIN to print and a four-digit PIN. Retrieve Job from Device Memory selects user/job and requests the PIN. Temporary personal jobs delete after printing and at power-off; repeated user/job names may replace earlier jobs, and space pressure can delete older jobs. Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job have separate optional-hard-disk conditions. The reviewed promise is temporary PIN-held printing, not encryption, permanent archiving or an installed secure hard disk.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US CE992A#BGJ identity/discontinued, 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz edition and commercial Class A context. Check actual plate and driver; separate high-voltage model is not convertible. Exact US dn body 16.3 W × 20 D × 15.7 H inches, 57.8 lb, distinct from package or open dimensions. Generic combined n/dn guide table has a visible 4515-mm depth typo; exact model-specific fields control. Allow real cover, cable, tray and cartridge access. Keypad/HIP do not include extra solutions or authentication accessories.
