LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603dn (CE995A#BGJ; US configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A prepared commercial computer network needing ordinary Letter, Legal or A4 automatic duplex within the 5,000–20,000 monthly recommendation.

The main tradeoff

The extra paper tray and xh encrypted disk are different equipment. Temporary PIN jobs have deletion limits, and AirPrint settings remain separate.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a USB computer automatically duplex ordinary Legal with 600 sheets and temporary PIN release at 20,000 monthly pages?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled, the included duplexer and a compatible computer driver. Use ordinary supported media and closed rear output; Personal Job/PIN has temporary storage/deletion conditions.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the normal dn include the 1,100-sheet paper arrangement?

Fails 1,100 included sheets. The normal dn has 100 plus 500; the extra 500-sheet input is different equipment.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the AirPrint record establish the same temporary PIN release for a mobile job?

Fails that combined requirement because mobile PIN behavior is unconfirmed. The separate computer-driver Personal Job/PIN routine is not borrowed for AirPrint.

Automatic duplex in the M603 two-input configuration

The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603dn suits a prepared commercial office that needs automatic two-sided monochrome documents and a 5,000–20,000-page recommended monthly routine. The normal package includes the duplex accessory, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB computer interface and 600 ordinary sheets. Temporary computer-driver PIN release is also documented, with specific retention limits.

HP's exact US page identifies CE995A#BGJ and marks it discontinued. The original table separately confirms that the dn adds automatic duplex to M603n's equipment. This earlier review covers the documented low-voltage US version, without promising stock, current driver installation or the condition of a surviving unit. HP specifies commercial Class A use.

Use the included duplexer with a matching ordinary-paper job

The actual automatic-size column positively supports Letter, Legal and A4. The ordinary duplex-media range is 60–120 g/m². In the compatible Windows driver, select Finishing and Print on both sides. The documented Mac route selects a binding option under Two-Sided. Set the job's correct paper size and type.

Keep the rear output closed. An open rear output takes the face-up straight path and makes the automatic mechanism unavailable. That means an envelope routine cannot simply be left in place for a subsequent duplex job. Labels, envelopes and transparencies do not gain duplex support from their front-input acceptance.

Without a finishing accessory, duplex letterhead loads front face down with the bottom edge first, or lower face up with its bottom toward the tray front. Optional stapling equipment changes orientation rules, so its settings are not used for this standard dn.

600 supplied sheets are different from the xh's extra input

The normal front 100 and lower 500 total 600 ordinary sheets at the original 20-lb/75-g/m² basis. Both actual size columns support Letter, Legal and A4. Full capacity for a selected size assumes both inputs contain it; a mixed-size load divides the count and heavier stock reduces the actual stack.

Set the lower side and rear guides, keep corners flat below the height marks and slide the tray fully into the printer. Pull out the front support and keep its stack below the tabs. Do not fan paper or load during printing. Accept or correct the panel's size/type prompt to agree with the real job.

The reviewed lower-paper limit uses the exact US 120 g/m² rather than a generic guide table's 135. Another 500-sheet input belongs to the different xh package or additional hardware. The optional 75-envelope feeder, stacker and stapler are also excluded. Up to ten supported envelopes use the normal front input face up, short postage edge leading into the engine, with the rear output open and extended.

Verify the actual computer route and distinguish host USB

For the included Gigabit Ethernet route, the original setup reads the printer address from the Embedded Jetdirect configuration page and selects that device in compatible software. Test a real document from the intended host rather than assuming the historic operating-system list guarantees present-day support.

The rear Hi-Speed USB 2.0 computer port takes an appropriate A-to-B cable, separately purchased. HP recommends at most two meters and connecting when installation prompts. The front host socket instead handles walk-up files of the specified types from recognized storage. It does not establish scan-to-USB or support for every file and storage accessory.

The numeric keypad and hardware integration pocket do not include an optional reader or separate authentication solution. Wireless networking and Wireless Direct accessories are additional equipment; the standard device does not qualify as built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct.

Use temporary PIN release with the real retention conditions

The actual compatible driver provides Personal Job, PIN to print and a four-digit code. At the device, Retrieve Job from Device Memory selects the user and job, then requests that code before release. This independently documented temporary feature is the PIN arrangement assessed here.

Personal jobs delete after printing and at power-off. Same-name work can replace an earlier job, and storage pressure can remove older jobs. The guide gives Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job separate optional-hard-disk conditions. No permanent archive or unlimited storage is promised.

HP's broader secure-disk promotional text has a specific footnote limiting the High-Performance Secure Hard Disk to M603xh. The dn does not inherit that encrypted-disk package. A separate product-page storage field does not turn temporary PIN release into an encryption claim.

AirPrint has a separate local-network arrangement

The actual guide and exact dn record support AirPrint over a network, with firmware possibly needing updating. Use the printer on Ethernet and a compatible Apple client on the same reachable local network through an access point. That arrangement does not require printer Wi-Fi.

The mobile route does not independently confirm paper-size choices, input-count guarantees, automatic duplex or PIN behavior. Those computer-driver features remain with the computer route. No Mopria claim is borrowed from another model. The hardware also has no document scanner, feeder, copier or fax.

Check the workload, access space and replacement supply

Declared one-sided speed is up to 62 Letter pages per minute, separately 60 A4. Recommended monthly volume reaches 20,000, while maximum duty is 275,000. These are source declarations rather than tests or duplex throughput.

The exact US dn fields list 16.3 inches wide, 20 deep and 15.7 high, weighing 57.8 pounds. Generic guide n/dn measurements differ, so measure the actual assembly and leave room for access. Verify its 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz plate and CE390A or CE390X supply. Replacement yield does not establish remaining toner, an included high-yield cartridge, availability or current running cost.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact M603dn original declares up to 62 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 60 A4. Exact US recommended 5,000–20,000 monthly pages is distinct from maximum duty 275,000. No measured, color or duplex rate inferred.

Paper handling

Exact M603dn includes front 100 plus lower 500, total 600 ordinary 20-lb/75-g/m² Letter/Legal/A4 sheets, and automatic duplexer. Actual automatic-size column supports all three; ordinary duplex 60–120 g/m², compatible driver Print on both sides and rear closed. Duplex letterhead without finishing: front face down/bottom first, lower face up/bottom toward front. No duplex labels/envelopes/transparencies. Set guides/panel size/type, keep flat below limits and do not fan or load during printing. Full selected-size count assumes both inputs contain it; thicker stock reduces capacity. Lower ordinary range uses exact US 120 rather than generic guide 135. Up to ten front envelopes use face up/short postage edge leading, rear open and extended. Extra lower input, 75-envelope feeder and finishing optional.

Scanning arrangement

This is monochrome print-only hardware without a document scanner, flatbed, automatic document feeder, copy function or fax. A color control-panel display does not make color output or add color scanning.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Gigabit Ethernet and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 support a real compatible computer driver. The rear computer connection uses A-to-B USB; the original recommends no more than 2 m and connecting only when installation prompts. The front walk-up host socket is a separate file-printing route, not the computer cable port. Wireless LAN and Wireless Direct accessories are optional; no built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct is presumed.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact M603dn replacements CE390A and CE390X are declared about 10,000 and 24,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. Exact page says high-yield X is separately purchased. No installed remainder, guaranteed full included yield, current stock, price or cost per page inferred.

Software and support

The original compatible computer driver provides Personal Job with PIN to print and a four-digit PIN. Retrieve Job from Device Memory selects user/job and requests the PIN. Temporary personal jobs delete after printing and at power-off; repeated user/job names may replace earlier jobs, and space pressure can delete older jobs. Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job have separate optional-hard-disk conditions. The reviewed promise is temporary PIN-held printing, not encryption, permanent archiving or an installed secure hard disk.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US CE995A#BGJ identity/discontinued, 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz edition and commercial Class A context. Verify actual plate and driver; separate high-voltage unit is not convertible. Exact US dn body 16.3 W × 20 D × 15.7 H inches, 57.8 lb, distinct from package/open dimensions. Generic guide combines n/dn fields and has visible 4515-mm depth typo; exact model-specific included-duplex fields control. Measure actual assembly and allow cover, cable, tray and cartridge access. Exact page footnote restricts encrypted high-performance disk to M603xh; no such package borrowed.
