LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603n (CE994A#BGJ; US configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A prepared commercial computer network needing ordinary Letter, Legal or A4 printing within the 5,000–20,000 monthly recommendation.

The main tradeoff

Automatic duplex and the xh encrypted disk are different equipment. Temporary PIN jobs have deletion limits, and AirPrint job features remain separate.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the standard n print ordinary Letter over Ethernet with 600 sheets and temporary PIN release for 20,000 monthly pages?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a compatible computer driver. The exact monthly recommendation reaches 20,000, and the original Personal Job/PIN feature uses device memory with deletion and space conditions.

A higher-volume M603 routine with manual page turning

The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603n fits a prepared commercial office whose monochrome computer-printing routine reaches the 5,000–20,000-page recommended monthly range. Its included Gigabit Ethernet, USB computer interface and temporary PIN-held job feature support a wired queue. The deciding limitation is manual duplex: the n's 600-sheet ordinary package does not include the automatic mechanism.

The exact HP US page identifies CE994A#BGJ and marks it discontinued. The original configuration table independently confirms M603n and its normal equipment. This is an earlier review of the documented US low-voltage edition, without promising stock, used-unit condition or a current driver. HP specifies commercial Class A use.

Separate the Letter rating from the actual job

The original M603 table declares up to 62 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 60 A4. That is distinct from the recommended monthly range and the 275,000-page maximum duty. None is a new measurement, a duplex rate or a guarantee that a surviving unit will maintain that speed on every document.

The original also notes that Tray 1 can print more slowly. Driver, media and document complexity matter, so the highest engine declaration should not replace a real check of the intended office job. This machine is monochrome print-only hardware, without a document scanner, feeder, copier or fax. A color panel does not make color pages.

Configure the included 600 ordinary sheets

The front input holds 100 and the lower input 500 at the original 20-lb/75-g/m² basis. Actual size columns support Letter, Legal and A4 in both. Full capacity for one selected size assumes both inputs contain it; mixed formats divide the supply and thicker media can reduce actual capacity.

Set the lower side and rear guides, keep the paper flat at all four corners below the height marks and slide the tray home. Extend the front support and keep its stack below the tabs, with guides touching without bending it. HP warns against fanning paper and loading during printing.

Accept or correct the panel's size/type prompt and match the computer job. A front input left at Any Size/Any Type may be used despite a mismatch. The reviewed lower-paper limit uses the exact US 120 g/m² rather than a generic guide table's 135. Extra lower inputs and finishing equipment are optional, and A3 or Tabloid is outside this ordinary-size arrangement.

Manual duplex and envelopes require different handling

The n lacks the automatic duplexer included with M603dn or M603xh. The actual compatible Windows routine selects Print on both sides (manually) in Finishing. Print the first sides, return the stack to Tray 1 with the printed side facing up and press the panel's OK button for second sides.

The front input governs each returned batch even when first sides came from the lower tray. A faster engine or full 600-sheet supply does not make that person-assisted routine unattended. If automatic duplex is essential, the other configuration's included mechanism matters.

Up to ten supported envelopes instead use the front face up with their short postage edge leading into the printer. Open and extend the rear output for the straighter path and set the actual envelope size/type. The optional 75-envelope feeder is additional hardware; envelopes are not automatic-duplex media.

Verify the computer connection and temporary PIN procedure

The included network connection is Gigabit Ethernet. Use the address on the Embedded Jetdirect configuration page when selecting the printer in compatible computer software. The rear Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port is a direct alternative with an appropriate A-to-B cable; HP recommends no more than two meters and connecting when the installer prompts.

The front host socket instead offers walk-up printing of specified file types from recognized storage. It is separate from the computer cable port and does not add scanning. Wireless LAN and Wireless Direct accessories are optional. Check a usable driver and actual job from the intended host rather than relying on a period operating-system list.

For temporary PIN-held work, select Personal Job and PIN to print with a four-digit code in the real driver. Retrieve Job from Device Memory selects the user and job and requests that PIN. Jobs delete after release and at power-off; duplicate names and storage pressure can replace or remove earlier work.

The product page's promotional secure-disk language has an important footnote: the HP High-Performance Secure Hard Disk belongs to M603xh. That equipment is not borrowed for n. The actual temporary Personal Job feature is independently documented, while Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job have separate disk conditions. No encryption or permanent archive is promised.

AirPrint uses the local network, with separate job limits

The original guide explicitly supports network AirPrint and notes that firmware may require updating. Keep the printer on Ethernet and the compatible Apple client on the same reachable local network through an access point. Printer Wi-Fi is unnecessary for that arrangement.

Mobile sizes, input-count guarantees, duplex and PIN behavior were not independently established, so they are not copied from the computer route. No positive Mopria arrangement is borrowed from an M602 listing. HP ePrint also has separate Internet and Web Services conditions.

Exact US body fields list 16.3-by-16.9-by-15.7 inches and 52.1 pounds, differing from a generic combined guide table. Measure the actual assembly with access space and verify its 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz plate. Documented CE390A/CE390X replacement yields do not establish installed remainder, an included high-yield cartridge, stock or running cost.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact M603n original declares up to 62 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 60 A4. Exact US recommended 5,000–20,000 monthly pages is distinct from maximum duty 275,000. Tray 1 may be slower. No measured or duplex rate inferred.

Paper handling

Exact M603n includes front 100 plus lower 500, total 600 ordinary 20-lb/75-g/m² Letter/Legal/A4 sheets. Full selected-size count assumes both inputs contain it. Set guides and panel type/size, keep flat below limits, do not fan or load while printing. Conservative lower 60–120 g/m² uses exact US source rather than generic guide 135; thicker media reduce capacity. Automatic duplexer and additional inputs are optional. Actual Windows manual routine uses Finishing/Print on both sides (manually), returned stack front Tray 1 printed side up, then panel OK. Up to ten front envelopes use face up/short postage edge leading, rear open and extended. Optional 75-envelope feeder and finishing excluded.

Scanning arrangement

This is monochrome print-only hardware without a document scanner, flatbed, automatic document feeder, copy function or fax. A color control-panel display does not make color output or add color scanning.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Gigabit Ethernet and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 support a real compatible computer driver. The rear computer connection uses A-to-B USB; the original recommends no more than 2 m and connecting only when installation prompts. The front walk-up host socket is a separate file-printing route, not the computer cable port. Wireless LAN and Wireless Direct accessories are optional; no built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct is presumed.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact M603n replacements CE390A and CE390X are declared about 10,000 and 24,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. Exact page notes X is not included and is separately purchased. No current installed remainder, guaranteed full supplied yield, stock, price or cost per page inferred.

Software and support

The original compatible computer driver provides Personal Job with PIN to print and a four-digit PIN. Retrieve Job from Device Memory selects user/job and requests the PIN. Temporary personal jobs delete after printing and at power-off; repeated user/job names may replace earlier jobs, and space pressure can delete older jobs. Quick Copy and permanent Stored Job have separate optional-hard-disk conditions. The reviewed promise is temporary PIN-held printing, not encryption, permanent archiving or an installed secure hard disk.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US CE994A#BGJ identity/discontinued, documented 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz edition and commercial Class A context. Verify actual plate and driver; separate high-voltage unit is not convertible. Exact US n body 16.3 W × 16.9 D × 15.7 H inches, 52.1 lb, distinct from packaging. Generic guide combines n/dn physical values and has a visible 4515-mm depth typo; exact per-model fields control, with actual assembly/access still checked. The encrypted high-performance disk is restricted by exact page footnote to M603xh and is not included here by inference.
