Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the xs scan both sides of Tabloid originals in color, provide fax and print Tabloid with 1,850 sheets ready?
Yes, with a compatible configured Ethernet folder and fax setup and the complete xs package. The feeder reverses originals.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the supplied configuration hold 2,100 Tabloid sheets?
No. The 250-sheet second tray does not accept that length. Documented larger-format capacity is 1,850 ordinary sheets.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the feeder capture both sides in one pass?
No. The original specification explicitly describes a reversing feeder.

The HP LaserJet M5035xs is an earlier monochrome multifunction model designed around larger office documents. It combines wide-format output, color capture, fax and an xs paper and stapling package. That combination can be relevant when ordinary Letter-only equipment does not cover the work.
Start with the documents repeated through the week. A larger sheet can be useful for plans, tables or layouts, but the benefit should be weighed against the tower's space, supplies and maintenance rather than treated as an automatic upgrade.
Large-format capacity is smaller than the headline total
The xs supplies several paper sources with an ordinary aggregate of 2,100 sheets. The second tray has a shorter supported length than the larger sources. It should therefore not be counted when assessing A3 or Tabloid capacity.
The documented larger-format sources total 1,850 ordinary sheets. That distinction matters for repeated large reports or drawings because a general capacity number can otherwise suggest fewer paper changes than the actual arrangement supports.
Assign a clear stock and size to each source and check the driver choices. Switching between ordinary and larger paper can be straightforward when defaults match the loading, but confusing when a shared queue selects a different source than the sender expects.
The xs finishing package is part of the configuration
This package includes its automatic stapler and stacker arrangement. It differs from lower family members, and the original specification does not describe it as a universal later upgrade for any cabinet in the series.
Inspect the actual installed feeder and output equipment. Test the intended finishing choice from the office software and include staple supplies in the purchase check. Confirm where finished jobs are collected when several people share the machine.
Automatic two-sided output is also included on the xs. Match the exact paper and software conditions for a real job rather than assuming all supported single-sided sizes and materials automatically qualify for every duplex combination.
Capture larger originals with the correct feeder expectations
The color scanner and larger document range can support electronic filing even though the print engine produces monochrome output. Scanning a colored original does not mean a paper copy can preserve those colors.
The 50-sheet document feeder reverses two-sided originals. It is not a single-pass dual-head route. Compare that handling with the frequency and condition of incoming batches, and use the glass for suitable originals that should stay out of rollers.
Check the complete saved file for order, edges, color and missing pages. Larger and mixed documents deserve a practical sample before the office relies on a routine destination button.
Configure delivery and fax as complete routes
Ethernet scanning to a network folder needs a reachable compatible share and correct access. Set the path and permissions deliberately, and check that staff can retrieve the saved files. Test again when computer or server settings change.
Computer USB printing and other accessory connections should not be taken as proof of direct scanning into an arbitrary computer application. Optional external print servers may provide a print-only route. Analog fax needs its supported telephone arrangement as well.
Inspect the whole earlier installation
Check current software support, feeding, capture, representative output, finishing and supply condition. The historical print rate and maximum duty do not predict the condition of the particular offered unit or the wait for a complex larger-format job.
Verify the exact regional electrical plate and allow room for the lid, paper sources, output and service access. Choose the M5035xs when those larger-document and finishing functions solve recurring work. Compare a smaller or more current arrangement when the main need is occasional standard-sized printing.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Manufacturer declares 35 Letter monochrome pages per minute. Recommended monthly output is 3,000–12,500 pages, distinct from 200,000 maximum duty. Long landscape/ledger jobs may slow according to the original footnote. No measured timing or color output is claimed.
Paper handling
The xs supplies 100+250+250+three 500-sheet sources, totaling 2,100 ordinary sheets. The second tray does not accommodate A3/Tabloid length; large-format capacity is 1,850 through the other documented sources. Automatic output duplex is included, with precise size-specific duplex limits unconfirmed here. The supplied automatic 30-sheet stapler/500-sheet stacker is xs-specific, not a universal field upgrade.
Scanning arrangement
Color flatbed plus 50-sheet reversing two-sided ADF. Reviewed ADF range covers ordinary Letter, Legal, A4, A3 and Tabloid. Glass range establishes Letter/Legal/A3/Tabloid; its literal published minimum leaves exact A4 glass matching unassigned. Computer delivery uses a configured compatible Ethernet network folder; direct computer USB scanning is unconfirmed.
Computer and mobile connections
Computer USB and embedded Fast Ethernet are supplied; this is not a Gigabit declaration. Analog fax needs its telephone setup. Optional wireless and external-server routes require separate hardware, and some are print-only. They do not establish a computer scanning route.
Supplies and declared yields
Match original Q7570A black supply, voltage-specific maintenance kit, ADF parts and staple cartridges against the actual equipment. Declared yield is not remaining toner or current running cost.
Software and support
Original memory is 256 MB, expandable to 512 MB, with an embedded hard disk. General private-print descriptions do not establish the exact PIN driver and panel procedure here. DSS, AutoStore and advanced workflow software are optional. Check current client and network-share compatibility.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US manufacturer Q7831A model reference. Original rawlead#BCC option is retained but does not establish an offered unit’s voltage; inspect its actual plate. Original fullxs body 29.1×29.1×46.5 inches/213 lb. Allow feeder, stapler, output, lid and service access.
