Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the included US M507dn automatically duplex monochrome Legal documents over USB with 650 normal sheets at 7,500 pages monthly?
Qualifies with earlier models enabled and an actual compatible computer driver on approved media. Exact model hardware and the paper table independently support Legal duplex.
Explore this need in the finder →Can an unchanged standard M507dn provide infrastructure Wi-Fi because a general manual row names a wireless print server?
Fails the selected wireless connection. Exact current model fields require additional wireless hardware, which is excluded from the base setup.
Explore this need in the finder →Can Ethernet AirPrint also satisfy automatic Letter duplex by borrowing the compatible computer-driver plan?
Fails this combined requirement because mobile duplex is unconfirmed. Both selected essentials must be established in the same actual operating plan.

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M507dn is a monochrome print-only configuration with automatic two-sided printing included. Its standard connection choices are USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, so the useful starting point is a compatible computer or a managed office network. It contains no scanner, copier or fax hardware, regardless of generic support links describing those functions for other Enterprise products.
The exact US product page identifies 1PV87A#BGJ and labels it discontinued. The configuration reviewed here uses the documented 100–127-volt, 50/60-Hz electrical edition. HP separately specifies 220–240-volt hardware and says the power supply varies by regional option code; it is not dual voltage. The maker also identifies FCC Class A commercial rather than residential use.
Default speed is separate from the high-speed setting
The ordinary Letter rate is up to 45 pages per minute. HP separately lists up to 52 in HP High Speed mode, which may require a firmware upgrade. The original guide identifies 43 A4 pages per minute at the standard setting. This assessment uses default 45 Letter ppm for matching rather than assigning the highest mode to every print arrangement.
The recommended monthly range is 2,000–7,500 pages. Maximum duty cycle is separately 150,000 pages per month. These figures describe different maker specifications, not an instruction to run continuously at the duty ceiling. No performance measurements or long-term reliability testing are claimed here.
The standard 650 sheets support ordinary Legal duplex
Included Tray 1 holds 100 ordinary sheets and Tray 2 holds 550, on the original guide's 75 g/m² capacity basis. The total is 650. Additional 550-sheet feeders are optional; a larger fully equipped system should be assessed from the equipment actually supplied, not a maximum-capacity headline.
The specific HP paper table maps Letter, Legal and A4 to both included feeds and automatic duplex. The original exact dn column independently confirms the duplex hardware. This pairing is stronger evidence than a broad media list that calls a duplexer optional across multiple variants.
Use an actual compatible driver, select the loaded paper size and type, and choose the appropriate two-sided binding. The Mac instructions explicitly say driver duplex controls might not be available through AirPrint. The separate mobile plan therefore does not automatically inherit the documented computer-driver duplex behavior.
Legal loading requires extending the back of the main tray and allowing room around the dust cover. Envelopes and labels use Tray 1. The original envelope routine supports up to ten, face up with the short postage end leading, with Envelope type and manual feed selected. Acceptance of heavier stock through an input is not unrestricted duplex permission for envelopes, labels or other special media.
An Ethernet printer can still serve a phone on the same network
AirPrint and Mopria are positively documented for M507dn. A suitable phone or tablet can reach the Ethernet-connected printer through the local network; this does not require a built-in printer radio. The original AirPrint instructions specify the same network or subnet. Install and verify the actual printer firmware and client setup before depending on a routine.
Infrastructure Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct are not included standard connection claims here. Exact current technical fields make wireless a hardware-accessory option. A general row in the original family manual says a wireless-network print server is included, but the precise model fields and separate accessory descriptions do not establish an installed radio in dn. An expansion pocket or wireless-related menu cannot settle that equipment question.
The front USB host socket also has a distinct purpose from the computer print connection. The guide describes walk-up files on a flash drive and says that function needs enabling because it is disabled by default. Do not confuse file-on-drive printing with connecting the computer to the rear device USB port.
PIN-held documents require more equipment than the base box
The exact original n/dn/x table states a requirement for a 16 GB or larger USB thumb drive for stored and private jobs. The documented M507dn package does not include that extra drive. Default matching therefore does not claim ready PIN release merely because job storage appears as an included feature heading.
With storage and a compatible driver actually configured, Personal Job mode can require a PIN at the panel before printing. Confirm that a sample job stays held and releases as intended. The separately licensed HP Secure Print service and an administration password are different functions and should not be used as substitutes for this procedure.
Supplies and installation checks still matter
US replacement toner is 89A CF289A at approximately 5,000 pages, 89X CF289X at approximately 10,000 or 89Y CF289Y at approximately 20,000, under ISO/IEC 19752 declarations. HP discloses dynamic security for new or reused HP chips. An older printer's remaining toner and actual cost per page are not established by those nominal yields.
Closed depth agrees between maker sources at 14.8 inches, but width, height and weight figures conflict, so those bounds remain unknown here. Verify the real body and service clearance before fitting a tight shelf. M507dn fits a wired commercial monochrome workflow needing approved automatic duplex, while any scanner, wireless radio and private-job storage are separately planned.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Exact maker default up to 45 Letter ppm, separately 52 Letter HP High Speed; original standard 43 A4 and later 50 A4 High Speed remain separate. Matching uses default 45 Letter. High Speed may require firmware upgrade. Recommended 2,000–7,500 monthly pages differs from maximum duty 150,000. No actual testing or measured performance.
Paper handling
Original guide capacity basis is 75 g/m². Specific HP c06343182 table maps Letter, Legal and A4 to included 100-sheet Tray 1 and 550-sheet feeds, and automatic duplex where exact model hardware is included. Extra optional drawers excluded. Legal requires rear tray extension and dust-cover clearance. Up to ten envelopes use Tray 1 only, face up/short postage end first, correct Envelope type and manual feed; labels also Tray 1 only. Input heavy-stock limits are not automatic duplex permission.
Scanning arrangement
Exact M507 configurations are monochrome print only. Color display, generic support scan/copy/fax links, encrypted PDF/email management descriptions and mobile camera features do not establish scanner/copy/fax hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
Compatible USB 2.0 computer printing and Gigabit Ethernet. Included radio decision uses exact suffix current maker fields; original 2019 general wireless-print-server Included row conflicts with n/dn exact optional-radio fields and does not add a radio. Front host USB walk-up printing is disabled by default and needs enabling; it is distinct from rear computer device USB.
Supplies and declared yields
US 89A CF289A approximately 5,000, 89X CF289X approximately 10,000, 89Y CF289Y approximately 20,000 pages, ISO/IEC 19752 maker declarations; original box 5,000 is separate from remaining toner. Dynamic security for new or reused HP chips disclosed. No used-cartridge life, current availability, price or running cost assumed.
Software and support
Exact original n/dn/x model table requires a 16 GB or greater USB thumb drive for stored/private jobs; none is in the documented box. Default PIN release is false despite generic included-job headings and optional licensed HP Secure Print marketing. Actual driver Personal Job/PIN needs storage and setup. Compatible computer-driver duplex and local-network mobile plans remain separate; original Mac driver duplex may not be available through AirPrint.
Electrical edition and setup
Reviewed exact US model with 100–127 VAC 50/60 Hz configuration; separate 220–240 VAC edition is not dual voltage. HP identifies FCC Class A commercial rather than residential use. Current and original width/height/weight fields conflict, so those bounds remain unknown. Closed depth 14.8 inches agrees, but open service and Legal rear clearance differs. Check actual computer driver and firmware support.
