M507nIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A commercial wired monochrome workgroup that accepts manual duplex and verifies compatible computer or same-LAN mobile printing.

The main tradeoff

No automatic duplex, scanner or included wireless radio. PIN-held jobs require added USB storage; width, height and weight remain unresolved between maker sources.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a standard M507n automatically duplex Legal pages over Ethernet because a shared paper table lists a duplexer?

Fails automatic duplex. The original exact n column says not available; the shared media compatibility column applies only where the mechanism exists.

Can M507n handle monochrome Letter AirPrint jobs over Ethernet with 650 normal sheets at 7,500 monthly pages?

Qualifies with earlier models enabled and the actual same-network supported device/firmware arrangement. This is a print routine with no automatic duplex or scanner.

Does an unchanged standard M507n include PIN-held document release without a storage drive?

Fails the default PIN requirement. The exact original table requires a separate 16 GB or larger USB thumb drive and the actual driver/storage setup.

A wired monochrome workgroup printer with manual duplex

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M507n is the non-duplex configuration in this family. The original exact model table lists automatic duplex as not available for M507n, even though neighboring dn and x configurations include it. Two-sided work on n therefore involves a manual software routine and operator reloading. A duplex media column on a shared support page does not add the missing mechanism.

HP's US product page identifies 1PV86A#BGJ and explicitly marks it discontinued. This review covers the documented 100–127-volt, 50/60-Hz US configuration. The separately specified 220–240-volt edition is different electrical hardware, not a selectable voltage setting. HP also identifies this as an FCC Class A device intended for commercial environments rather than residential use.

The engine prints black only. A color graphics display does not produce color documents, and this print-only configuration contains no scanner, copier or fax. It is a candidate for ordinary monochrome workgroup output when document capture is already provided elsewhere.

USB and Gigabit Ethernet are the included routes

A compatible computer can use USB 2.0 or the built-in Gigabit Ethernet network connection. Suitable software must be obtained and checked for the actual computer. An older supported-operating-system list does not establish current driver behavior in every application or processor environment.

The original 2019 family table contains a general row calling a wireless-network print server included. The exact current M507n specifications instead explicitly make wireless capability dependent on an additional hardware accessory. Those precise fields control the reviewed base arrangement. No Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct radio is counted as included, and a Hardware Integration Pocket is not itself a radio.

AirPrint and Mopria are documented mobile options on the network. An Ethernet-connected printer can serve a suitably configured phone on that local network; the printer need not have its own Wi-Fi connection. The original AirPrint instructions require the same network or subnet. This does not turn the printer into a scanner or remove the manual-duplex limitation.

Included paper capacity is 650 ordinary sheets

Tray 1 holds 100 sheets and Tray 2 holds 550, based on 75 g/m² ordinary stock. Together they provide 650 included sheets. Further 550-sheet drawers are optional and excluded from base capacity. The stated maximum for a fully expanded system is not what a standard n configuration contains.

The original HP paper table maps Letter, Legal and A4 to both included feeds. Legal loading requires extending the back of the tray and allowing rear dust-cover clearance. The closed body depth is therefore not a complete statement of the space needed for every paper size.

The compatible Windows manual-duplex procedure prints the first sides, asks the operator to retrieve the output and reload Tray 1, then continue. The Mac driver has its own manual-duplex controls. Check a short numbered job with the real application before relying on a long stack to return in the correct order.

Envelopes and labels use Tray 1 rather than the 550-sheet cassette. Up to ten envelopes load face up with the short postage end entering first. Select the precise size, Envelope type and manual-feed setting. Capacity measured in ordinary sheets and the input's heavier-stock allowance should not be treated as unrestricted special-media or two-sided permission.

Private printing needs an actual storage upgrade

The model table marks stored and private jobs as a feature, but immediately states that a 16 GB or larger USB thumb drive is required. The documented standard box does not include that separate drive. Default matching therefore does not claim ready PIN-held document release.

With the actual storage and compatible driver configured, the guide describes Personal Job mode, assigning a PIN and releasing at the control panel. The optional licensed HP Secure Print service is a separate product. An administrator password or broad security heading cannot substitute for the required held-job equipment and procedure.

Speed, workload and supplies complete the assessment

HP declares up to 45 Letter pages per minute by default, separately up to 52 in HP High Speed mode; the original standard A4 rate is 43. This review matches the default Letter rate, not the boost setting, which may require firmware. The recommended monthly range is 2,000–7,500 pages, distinct from the 150,000-page maximum duty cycle.

US toner options are 89A CF289A, approximately 5,000 pages, 89X CF289X, approximately 10,000, and 89Y CF289Y, approximately 20,000, under ISO/IEC 19752 declarations. HP discloses dynamic security for new or reused HP chips. Remaining toner and running cost of an individual used printer are unknown.

Current and original width, height and weight figures conflict, so those matching bounds remain unconfirmed; closed depth agrees at 14.8 inches. Verify actual installation clearance and lifting requirements. M507n fits a wired monochrome office that accepts manual two-sided handling and treats wireless or private-job storage as separately verified equipment.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact maker default up to 45 Letter ppm, separately 52 Letter HP High Speed; original standard 43 A4 and later 50 A4 High Speed remain separate. Matching uses default 45 Letter. High Speed may require firmware upgrade. Recommended 2,000–7,500 monthly pages differs from maximum duty 150,000. No actual testing or measured performance.

Paper handling

Original guide capacity basis is 75 g/m². Specific HP c06343182 table maps Letter, Legal and A4 to included 100-sheet Tray 1 and 550-sheet feeds, and automatic duplex where exact model hardware is included. Extra optional drawers excluded. Legal requires rear tray extension and dust-cover clearance. Up to ten envelopes use Tray 1 only, face up/short postage end first, correct Envelope type and manual feed; labels also Tray 1 only. Input heavy-stock limits are not automatic duplex permission.

Scanning arrangement

Exact M507 configurations are monochrome print only. Color display, generic support scan/copy/fax links, encrypted PDF/email management descriptions and mobile camera features do not establish scanner/copy/fax hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Compatible USB 2.0 computer printing and Gigabit Ethernet. Included radio decision uses exact suffix current maker fields; original 2019 general wireless-print-server Included row conflicts with n/dn exact optional-radio fields and does not add a radio. Front host USB walk-up printing is disabled by default and needs enabling; it is distinct from rear computer device USB.

Supplies and declared yields

US 89A CF289A approximately 5,000, 89X CF289X approximately 10,000, 89Y CF289Y approximately 20,000 pages, ISO/IEC 19752 maker declarations; original box 5,000 is separate from remaining toner. Dynamic security for new or reused HP chips disclosed. No used-cartridge life, current availability, price or running cost assumed.

Software and support

Exact original n/dn/x model table requires a 16 GB or greater USB thumb drive for stored/private jobs; none is in the documented box. Default PIN release is false despite generic included-job headings and optional licensed HP Secure Print marketing. Actual driver Personal Job/PIN needs storage and setup. Compatible computer-driver duplex and local-network mobile plans remain separate; original Mac driver duplex may not be available through AirPrint.

Electrical edition and setup

Reviewed exact US model with 100–127 VAC 50/60 Hz configuration; separate 220–240 VAC edition is not dual voltage. HP identifies FCC Class A commercial rather than residential use. Current and original width/height/weight fields conflict, so those bounds remain unknown. Closed depth 14.8 inches agrees, but open service and Legal rear clearance differs. Check actual computer driver and firmware support.
