M507xIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A commercial monochrome workgroup needing the included third paper tray and verified wired or wireless computer and mobile print arrangements.

The main tradeoff

No scanner; private jobs require extra USB storage. Mobile duplex and radio band details remain unresolved, as do conflicting width, height and weight fields.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can standard M507x duplex monochrome Legal computer jobs over router Wi-Fi with 1,200 included sheets at 7,500 monthly pages?

Qualifies with earlier models enabled, actual compatible computer driver, configured included radio and approved paper. The third 550-sheet tray is included in the exact x configuration.

Can a compatible iOS device print by AirPrint over the included Wi-Fi Direct route without a router?

Qualifies with earlier models enabled and Direct enabled/configured on actual supported firmware and device. This direct print routine does not promise mobile duplex or a scanner.

Does standard M507x provide PIN-held printing merely because it has a touchscreen and a security feature list?

Fails the default PIN requirement. The exact original table requires a separate 16 GB or larger USB thumb drive and driver/storage setup; that drive is not in the documented box.

More included paper and wireless choices in the x configuration

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M507x is the three-tray monochrome print-only configuration. Its original exact column includes the 100-sheet multipurpose feed, the 550-sheet main cassette and an additional 550-sheet third tray. That makes 1,200 ordinary sheets before purchasing further drawers, rather than the 650-sheet starting point of n and dn.

The exact US product page identifies 1PV88A#BGJ and marks it discontinued. This assessment covers the documented 100–127-volt, 50/60-Hz US hardware. The separate 220–240-volt electrical edition is not a setting on the same power supply. HP identifies commercial FCC Class A use rather than residential placement, a relevant condition when considering where this workgroup printer belongs.

The larger color touchscreen improves access to controls; it does not add color output or a scanner. M507x prints black only and has no copier, fax, flatbed or feeder. Its capacity is for printing, not for acquiring a large stack of originals.

Use the exact current wireless configuration

Standard computer interfaces include USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. The exact US M507x technical fields also positively list embedded Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth Low Energy. That evidence supports including router-network Wi-Fi and genuine Wi-Fi Direct here. It should not be transferred to the n or dn suffix.

The original 2019 guide discusses wireless accessories and contains inconsistent broad configuration wording. Current exact M507x fields make the included radio distinction clearer. They also conflict on band detail: a field says dual-band station capability while a footnote refers to 2.4-GHz operation only. This review does not promise a particular band; verify the actual hardware and firmware with the intended network.

AirPrint and Mopria are documented for network printing. On Ethernet or configured router Wi-Fi, the original AirPrint routine uses the same local network or subnet. The guide also describes compatible iOS AirPrint devices using Wi-Fi Direct without a router. That direct mobile route is retained because M507x independently establishes the required included Direct capability.

Mobile printing still does not inherit every computer-driver option. The guide warns that Mac driver duplex controls might not be available through AirPrint. A phone routine is therefore separate from the confirmed automatic-duplex computer queue. Likewise, Bluetooth Low Energy in a feature list should not become an unrestricted Bluetooth document-printing promise.

Automatic duplex and the 1,200-sheet total

The original exact x column confirms included automatic print duplex. HP's paper table separately maps Letter, Legal and A4 to the relevant feeds and automatic duplex path. An actual compatible computer driver can use the approved size and type, with the intended two-sided binding selected.

Capacity is based on 75 g/m² ordinary paper: 100 plus 550 plus 550. Additional optional feeders are excluded from matching. Each drawer has its own loaded-size and type settings, and Legal requires extending the rear of its cassette. Make sure the installation leaves space behind the machine rather than planning from closed depth alone.

Special media follows a different routine. Envelopes and labels use Tray 1. The original envelope instructions specify up to ten, face up with the short postage end entering first, plus Envelope type and manual feed in the driver. The feed's heavier-paper allowance and a general duplex feature are not permission to duplex any special medium.

A touchscreen and a security heading do not supply private-job storage

The original n/dn/x specification explicitly states that stored or private jobs require a 16 GB or larger USB thumb drive. The documented M507x box does not include that separate storage. It therefore fails a default requirement for ready PIN-held document release, even though the guide describes the feature and the product page promotes optional security services.

With storage and a suitable driver actually configured, Personal Job mode can assign a PIN and release a held document at the panel. The optional licensed HP Secure Print service is a separate arrangement. Confirm a representative held job and the intended retention behavior before using the setup for confidential work.

Workload, supplies and unresolved body measurements

HP declares up to 45 Letter pages per minute by default, separately up to 52 in HP High Speed mode. Original standard A4 speed is 43; high-speed mode may need a firmware upgrade. Matching uses the default Letter rate. The recommended monthly range is 2,000–7,500 pages, while the separately stated maximum duty is 150,000.

US replacement toner is 89A CF289A, approximately 5,000 pages, 89X CF289X, approximately 10,000, or 89Y CF289Y, approximately 20,000, under ISO/IEC 19752 maker declarations. Dynamic security for new or reused HP chips is disclosed. Remaining toner in a used unit and actual running cost remain unknown.

Closed depth agrees at 14.8 inches, but current and original width, height and weight differ substantially, especially for the complete x assembly. Those matching bounds remain unconfirmed. Verify the real supplied trays, body and clearance. M507x fits a commercial monochrome office needing more included paper and verified wireless choices, with scanning and any private-job storage planned separately.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact maker default up to 45 Letter ppm, separately 52 Letter HP High Speed; original standard 43 A4 and later 50 A4 High Speed remain separate. Matching uses default 45 Letter. High Speed may require firmware upgrade. Recommended 2,000–7,500 monthly pages differs from maximum duty 150,000. No actual testing or measured performance.

Paper handling

Original guide capacity basis is 75 g/m². Specific HP c06343182 table maps Letter, Legal and A4 to included 100-sheet Tray 1 and 550-sheet feeds, and automatic duplex where exact model hardware is included. Extra optional drawers excluded. Legal requires rear tray extension and dust-cover clearance. Up to ten envelopes use Tray 1 only, face up/short postage end first, correct Envelope type and manual feed; labels also Tray 1 only. Input heavy-stock limits are not automatic duplex permission.

Scanning arrangement

Exact M507 configurations are monochrome print only. Color display, generic support scan/copy/fax links, encrypted PDF/email management descriptions and mobile camera features do not establish scanner/copy/fax hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact US M507x positively includes USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, embedded Wi-Fi station and genuine Wi-Fi Direct/BLE. Current dual-band field conflicts with 2.4-GHz-only footnote; no band guarantee. Original generic optional-radio guide wording does not remove exact positive US included-radio fields. Network and Direct mobile routines remain separate from computer duplex.

Supplies and declared yields

US 89A CF289A approximately 5,000, 89X CF289X approximately 10,000, 89Y CF289Y approximately 20,000 pages, ISO/IEC 19752 maker declarations; original box 5,000 is separate from remaining toner. Dynamic security for new or reused HP chips disclosed. No used-cartridge life, current availability, price or running cost assumed.

Software and support

Exact original n/dn/x model table requires a 16 GB or greater USB thumb drive for stored/private jobs; none is in the documented box. Default PIN release is false despite generic included-job headings and optional licensed HP Secure Print marketing. Actual driver Personal Job/PIN needs storage and setup. Compatible computer-driver duplex and local-network mobile plans remain separate; original Mac driver duplex may not be available through AirPrint.

Electrical edition and setup

Reviewed exact US model with 100–127 VAC 50/60 Hz configuration; separate 220–240 VAC edition is not dual voltage. HP identifies FCC Class A commercial rather than residential use. Current and original width/height/weight fields conflict, so those bounds remain unknown. Closed depth 14.8 inches agrees, but open service and Legal rear clearance differs. Check actual computer driver and firmware support.
