Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a USB computer print ordinary Legal duplex with 1,200 sheets and temporary PIN release?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled, a compatible HP driver and all three included inputs holding ordinary Legal stock. Personal Job deletes after printing or power loss.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a compatible Android device print through the exact US model’s included Wi-Fi Direct?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled, the documented US radio present and compatible Android embedded printing or HP Print Service Plugin. Paper-size, capacity, duplex and PIN settings are unconfirmed for that peer job.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the same Wi-Fi Direct route also establish Apple AirPrint without the separate network arrangement?
Fails this combined requirement. The original Apple paragraph concerns legacy Wireless Direct/3000w, while the positively supported peer route here is Android Wi-Fi Direct. Network AirPrint is recorded separately.

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M609x fits a commercial monochrome queue that wants automatic duplex and two full lower drawers without adding the first extra feeder. Its standard front 100 plus lower 550 plus another 550 totals 1,200 ordinary sheets. A 4.3-inch touchscreen replaces the keypad arrangement of the dn, and the exact US technical fields explicitly include Wi-Fi Direct.
HP identifies this discontinued US configuration as K0Q22A#BGJ. The documented low-voltage edition uses 100–127 V at nominal 50–60 Hz and is commercial Class A. This earlier-model review does not promise a seller's stock, condition or parts; check the actual plate, third drawer, wireless configuration and compatible host driver.
Decide how the three inputs will be filled
The original drawer rating uses 20-lb/75-g/m² ordinary paper. Letter, Legal and A4 are positively documented in the actual loading and automatic-duplex tables. The full 1,200-sheet reserve for one size assumes all three inputs contain it. Keeping letterhead in one drawer and Legal in another is useful, but divides that reserve rather than preserving it for every size.
Set width and length guides with their blue latches, keep below the full indicators and let guides touch without bending the stack. After closing each drawer, accept its displayed size and type only when correct; otherwise choose Modify. Make the computer job agree so a document does not silently use an unintended drawer.
The included third drawer is not the optional 2,100-sheet high-capacity feeder. A larger maximum-capacity figure describes an expanded assembly with more space and hardware. The reviewed standard configuration remains 1,200 ordinary sheets.
Use automatic duplex on the documented computer route
The compatible Windows driver offers Print on both sides under Finishing. The original OS X HP-driver routine provides a binding selection under Layout and Two-Sided; it warns that the feature might not be available through AirPrint. Mobile printing therefore has separate recorded limits.
Without an optional stapling mailbox, preprinted duplex stock loads front face down with its bottom edge entering first, or lower face up with its top at the back. One-sided directions differ. Alternative Letterhead Mode uses duplex orientation for applicable jobs, while a mailbox accessory changes the applicable directions again.
The front ordinary range reaches 199 g/m² and the lower range 120. Input weight alone does not establish that a special sheet can duplex. Envelopes instead use the original front Manual feed routine: select the actual size and Envelope type, send the compatible Windows job, then load up to ten face up with the short postage end leading. Envelope duplex is unsupported.
Keep Wi-Fi Direct, network AirPrint and optional accessories distinct
The exact US standard-connection list names Wi-Fi Direct 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth low-energy I/O alongside Gigabit Ethernet and computer USB. The older family guide lists direct-print accessories as optional across grouped columns. This review retains that source difference and scopes the included peer route to the exact US standard fields and the guide's positive Android embedded Wi-Fi Direct instructions.
Use a compatible Android device within range and the appropriate embedded print solution or HP Print Service Plugin. This route does not establish AirPrint, a particular paper size, the 1,200-sheet count, automatic duplex or PIN settings for that same phone job. Bluetooth low-energy I/O is not a promise of universal Bluetooth document printing.
The guide separately discusses Apple printing under legacy HP Wireless Direct with the optional 3000w accessory. That terminology is not silently transferred to the Wi-Fi Direct route. Exact US AirPrint and Mopria evidence instead supports a separate local-network arrangement: printer Ethernet, compatible client and access point on the same reachable subnet. Infrastructure Wi-Fi through the 2900nw remains optional.
Use the touchscreen to release a temporary private job
The original guide supports computer-driver Personal Job with PIN protection; its OS X routine uses four digits. At the printer, choose Print, Print from Job Storage, the folder and job, enter the code and release the desired copies. This is a documented computer workflow, not an assumed phone-app feature.
Personal Job deletes after printing and is lost on power interruption. Duplicate names can be numbered or overwritten, and space pressure can remove older jobs. Keep the source file elsewhere. The optional 500-GB hard disk is separate. The front flash-file USB host also needs administrator enablement and is distinct from rear computer USB; none of these features adds a scanner, copier or fax.
Check workload, supply restrictions and the taller assembly
HP declares up to 75 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 71 A4. The recommended monthly range is 5,000–30,000 pages, distinct from 300,000 maximum duty. Exact CF237A/X/Y replacements have declared yields of approximately 11,000/25,000/41,000 pages; higher yields are separate purchases, while the original box lists approximately 11,000.
HP explicitly warns that dynamic security can prevent non-HP chips from working. Separately, enabled administrator Cartridge Protection permanently pairs subsequently installed cartridges; switching it off does not release supplies already protected. Inspect the actual settings.
The standard assembly measures 17 inches wide, 18.3 deep and 19.9 high, with an original toner-included weight of 58 lb. Fully opened depth reaches approximately 43.3 inches. Allow the taller drawer stack, paper access and service room before choosing this x for its actual standard capacity.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Declared one-sided speed is up to 75 Letter ppm, separately 71 A4. Recommended use is 5,000–30,000 monthly pages, distinct from maximum duty 300,000. No measured throughput, duplex rate or mobile job performance inferred.
Paper handling
Included multipurpose input holds 100 ordinary sheets and each included lower drawer holds 550 sheets of 20-lb/75-g/m² stock. Actual loading tables positively include Letter, Legal and A4; full selected-size capacity requires all included inputs to hold that size. Set width/length guides, keep below full indicators and accept or Modify the panel size/type to match the computer job. No Stapling Mailbox is included. For ordinary one-sided preprinted stock, front loading is face up/top entering and lower loading face down/bottom at the rear; automatic duplex or enabled Alternative Letterhead Mode changes those directions. Up to ten envelopes use front Manual feed, face up/short postage end leading, after selecting exact size and Envelope type and sending the job. Envelopes do not duplex. Exact x includes two lower 550-sheet drawers, giving 1,200 ordinary sheets with the front 100. Original detailed orientations positively establish Letter, Legal and A4 automatic duplex. Without optional mailbox, duplex preprinted stock loads front face down/bottom entering or lower face up/top at the rear. Windows HP driver selects Finishing and Print on both sides; original OS X driver uses Layout and Two-Sided binding. Front ordinary range is 60–199 g/m² and lower 60–120; input limits do not prove universal duplex support for special media. Optional high-capacity feeder is not included.
Scanning arrangement
This is monochrome print-only hardware with no scanner, document feeder, copy function or fax. Generic scanning words beside the USB host in the family table do not establish a physical scanner.
Computer and mobile connections
Exact US K0Q22A#BGJ standard fields positively include Gigabit Ethernet, rear USB 2.0 computer device, Wi-Fi Direct 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth low-energy I/O. The older grouped guide lists direct-print accessories as optional; preserve this source difference and inspect the actual US assembly. The recorded included peer route is the guide’s positively supported compatible Android embedded/HP Print Service Plugin Wi-Fi Direct arrangement. Legacy Wireless Direct/3000w Apple instructions do not establish AirPrint on that peer route, and BLE I/O is not universal Bluetooth document printing. Infrastructure Wi-Fi through the 2900nw and the separate 3000w accessory remain optional. Front flash-file USB host is disabled until an administrator enables Print From USB Drive.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact M609x CF237A/37A, CF237X/37X and CF237Y/37Y declared yields are approximately 11,000, 25,000 and 41,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. The original box lists approximately 11,000 pages; high-yield replacements are separately purchased. Generic color-composite ISO/IEC 19798 footnotes are not used. HP explicitly states dynamic security and intended original HP chip use, warning that non-HP chips may stop working. Separate administrator Cartridge Policy and Cartridge Protection are off by default in the guide. Enabled protection permanently pairs subsequently installed cartridges; disabling the setting does not release existing protected supplies. No live price, stock, remainder or cost per page inferred.
Software and support
The actual original guide supports memory-stored Personal Job with compatible computer driver and PIN protection, separately from the optional 500 GB hard disk. The OS X routine specifies four digits. At the panel, select Print, Print from Job Storage, folder and job, then enter the PIN and release copies. Personal Job explicitly deletes after printing and is lost on power interruption. Duplicate names can be numbered or overwritten, and limited space can remove oldest jobs. No permanent archive, optional disk or fleet badge reader is included in this temporary release claim.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US K0Q22A#BGJ is discontinued and commercial Class A. The documented edition uses 100–127 V at nominal 50–60 Hz; separate high-voltage editions are not dual voltage or convertible. Original closed standard assembly is 17 inches wide, 18.3 deep and 19.9 high, weighing 58 lb with toner according to the guide, consistent with the exact US weight. Fully opened dimensions reach approximately 43.3-inch depth and 22.9-inch height. Allow cables, ventilation, drawer and service access. Confirm actual third drawer, radio, plate and compatible host software.
