LaserJet Enterprise M610dn (7PS82A#BGJ; US configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A prepared commercial computer queue needing ordinary Letter, Legal or A4 within the 5,000–20,000 monthly recommendation.

The main tradeoff

Rear USB needs enablement and a separate cable. Wireless hardware is optional, exact evidence establishes 147A supplies only, and original weight figures conflict.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a direct computer print ordinary Legal duplex with 650 sheets and PIN after USB setup?

Qualifies when an administrator enables the rear Device USB port and a compatible HP driver and separately purchased cable are used. Both inputs must hold ordinary Legal for full capacity; Personal Job is temporary.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the standard M610dn include an infrastructure wireless connection without an accessory?

Fails the standard Wi-Fi requirement. Included connections are Ethernet and the administrator-enabled rear computer USB port; wireless hardware is optional.

Can a compatible AirPrint phone use the local network while the printer stays wired?

Qualifies with the client on the same reachable subnet through its access point. This separate mobile route does not establish computer-driver paper, capacity, duplex or PIN settings.

A wired duplex queue that benefits from administrator setup

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M610dn fits a commercial office that wants automatic two-sided monochrome computer printing, 650 ordinary sheets and PIN-controlled release. Gigabit Ethernet and rear computer USB are included. The practical setup condition is easy to miss: the original guide says the rear USB device port is disabled by default and must be enabled before installing the compatible print software.

HP's exact US page identifies 7PS82A#BGJ and currently displays Not Available. This is a specification reference, not a stock or price promise, and that message is not itself a discontinuation notice. The reviewed 100–127-V, nominal 50–60-Hz edition is commercial Class A. Check the actual plate and configuration.

Enable the correct USB port or prepare the Ethernet queue

For a direct computer, an administrator opens Settings, General and Enable Device USB, then selects Enabled. Install compatible software after the port is enabled, and provide the separately purchased USB cable. Merely seeing the socket on the back does not establish an immediately working plug-and-print arrangement.

The front flash-drive USB host is separate and also disabled by default. Its Enable Print From USB Drive setting allows specified file types through the printer panel; it does not install a computer queue. Ethernet instead provides the included network connection. Confirm the actual firmware, administrator access and driver before deployment.

This is print-only hardware. The generic Multifunction Printer phrase in the box list does not add a scanner, document feeder, copying or fax. Likewise, nearby product recommendation cards describe other machines rather than the M610dn configuration.

Load 650 sheets for the actual selected size

The included front 100 and lower 550 make 650 ordinary sheets. HP rates the lower drawer using 20-lb/75-g/m² stock. Letter, Legal and A4 are positively documented for the inputs and automatic-duplex arrangement. Full capacity for one size requires both inputs to hold it; mixed forms and plain paper divide the supply.

The guide notes that drawer guides may be locked. Otherwise use the blue latches to adjust width and length, keep below the full indicator and let guides touch without bending the stack. Confirm the reported size and type when closing the drawer, choosing Modify if needed, and make the computer job agree.

In the compatible Windows driver, select Print on both sides under Finishing. The original macOS HP-driver routine uses Layout and a Two-Sided binding choice; HP cautions that it might not be available through AirPrint. The ordinary lower and duplex paths are 60–120 g/m², separate from the front input's 60–200 range.

Use this guide's actual form and envelope directions

Without the optional stapling mailbox, the original lower-drawer table places preprinted duplex stock face down with the bottom edge at the back. Its simplex instruction is face up with the top at the back. Tray 1 duplex stock also goes face down, bottom entering first; simplex uses face up/top entering.

Alternative Letterhead Mode and a mailbox accessory change the applicable routine. Instructions memorized from another LaserJet generation should not override this exact table. For up to ten front envelopes, select the actual size, Envelope type and Manual feed in the compatible Windows driver, send the job, then load face up with the short postage end leading. Envelopes do not duplex.

Release Personal Job without expecting permanent retention

The original configuration includes 8 GB of embedded eMMC storage and 512 MB memory. Its documented compatible-driver Personal Job routine supports PIN protection; the macOS procedure specifies four digits. At the touchscreen choose Print, Print from Job Storage, Choose and the folder/document, then Select, enter the PIN, set copies and Print.

HP explicitly says Personal Job deletes after printing and is lost on power interruption. Names can be numbered or overwritten, and storage pressure may remove older jobs. Included eMMC does not justify ignoring those stated rules. Keep the source document elsewhere; the optional 500-GB hard disk is a separate component.

Keep phone printing and toner eligibility specific

The exact US fields list AirPrint and Mopria. A separate local mobile arrangement keeps the printer on Ethernet and places a compatible client on the same reachable subnet through its access point. Its paper size, input count, duplex and PIN settings are unconfirmed here. Wireless hardware remains optional for this dn.

The exact M610dn replacement list establishes W1470A/147A at approximately 10,500 declared pages under ISO/IEC 19752, also the original box yield. A generic family list containing 147X and 147Y does not establish them for this model. HP's dynamic-security statement permits new or reused HP chips while warning that non-HP chips can be blocked by firmware changes; that is not a promise about every refilled cartridge.

HP recommends 5,000–20,000 monthly pages, distinct from 250,000 maximum duty. Original one-sided speed is up to 55 Letter ppm, separately 52 A4. The closed body is 17 inches wide, 18.3 deep and 15 high, but original weights conflict. Allow its approximately 40.9-inch opened depth and service access before choosing the actual wired duplex arrangement.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared one-sided speed is up to 55 Letter ppm, separately 52 A4. Recommended use is 5,000–20,000 monthly pages, distinct from maximum duty 250,000. No measured job time, duplex rate or comparative speed inferred.

Paper handling

Actual original input and automatic-duplex loading tables positively include ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. Each lower drawer holds 550 sheets of 20-lb/75-g/m² stock, with 100 in the multipurpose input. Full capacity for one size requires all included inputs to hold it. Guides may be locked; otherwise use the blue width/length latches, keep below the fill indicator and confirm or Modify the panel size/type to match the computer job. Without an optional stapling mailbox, this original’s lower preprinted duplex orientation is face down with bottom at the rear; simplex is face up/top at the rear. Front preprinted duplex is face down/bottom entering, simplex face up/top entering. Alternative Letterhead Mode and mailbox settings change the applicable instructions. Ten front envelopes use exact size, Envelope type and Manual feed selected before sending; then load face up/short postage end leading. Envelope duplex is unsupported. No optional 75-envelope feeder or high-capacity input included. Exact dn includes 650 ordinary sheets and automatic duplex, with no additional feeder included. Lower ordinary and duplex paths are 60–120 g/m²; front ordinary range is 60–200. Windows HP driver uses Finishing and Print on both sides; macOS HP driver uses Layout and Two-Sided binding, with the original AirPrint caveat retained.

Scanning arrangement

This is monochrome print-only hardware without scanner, feeder, copy function or fax. Generic Multifunction Printer box text and unrelated recommendation cards do not establish physical scanning hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Gigabit Ethernet and rear USB 2.0 computer device connection are included. The rear port is disabled by default: an administrator must enable Settings, General, Enable Device USB before installing compatible print software; the USB cable is separately purchased. The distinct front flash-file USB host is also disabled by default until Enable Print From USB Drive is enabled. Confirm actual firmware, administrator access, cables and compatible host driver.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact M610dn replacement list establishes W1470A/147A at approximately 10,500 declared pages under ISO/IEC 19752 continuous-printing conditions, with approximately 10,500 pages listed in the original box. Generic family 147X/147Y lists do not establish compatibility for this model. HP states dynamic security allows new or reused HP chips and blocks non-HP chips, including cartridges that may have worked before a firmware update; this is not a guarantee for every refilled cartridge. Separate administrator Cartridge Policy and Cartridge Protection are off by default in the original guide. Enabled protection permanently pairs subsequently installed cartridges, and switching it off does not release existing protected supplies. No live stock, price, remainder or cost per page inferred.

Software and support

The exact original configuration includes 8 GB embedded eMMC and 512 MB memory; its compatible computer-driver Personal Job supports PIN protection. The documented macOS routine uses four digits. At the panel choose Print, Print from Job Storage, Choose, folder/document and Select, enter the private PIN, choose copies and Print. Personal Job explicitly deletes after printing and is lost on power interruption. Duplicate names can be numbered or overwritten, and storage pressure can remove oldest jobs. The optional 500 GB disk is separate. Included eMMC does not change the guide’s explicit temporary-job deletion rules or establish a permanent archive.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US 7PS82A#BGJ is commercial Class A with documented 100–127 V at nominal 50–60 Hz. Separate high-voltage editions are not dual voltage or convertible. The observed US page says Not Available, which is not proof of discontinuation or a future stock promise; this is a current manufacturer specification reference. Closed dimensions are 17 inches wide, 18.3 deep and 15 high. The guide’s 380 mm corroborates height despite its incorrect inch label. Weight remains unresolved between exact US 47.7 lb and original guide 45.4 lb with toner. Fully opened dimensions reach approximately 40.9-inch depth and 17.8-inch height. Allow ventilation, cable and service room; verify actual plate, administrator access and compatible driver.
