Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it scan both sides of Legal documents in color to a network folder with 600 sheets ready?
Yes, with earlier models enabled and a correctly configured compatible Ethernet shared folder.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the supplied configuration cover fax as well?
No. Analog fax is optional on this exact non-Flow h model.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the base configuration provide Wi-Fi?
No; the appropriate optional radio accessory is required.
Explore this need in the finder →Consider the M630h for capture as well as printing
The HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M630h is a monochrome printer with color scanning, copying and a 100-sheet document feeder. The exact J7X28A configuration is useful for a shared office that handles incoming paper but does not need the larger finishing package supplied with the M630z.
Its print engine produces black output. Color capture is a separate capability, so a scanned color document does not imply that a subsequent paper copy can reproduce those colors. Decide which side of that distinction matters for your work.
Single-pass capture can simplify repeated two-sided batches
The US manufacturer comparison explicitly lists single-pass two-sided scanning for this model. That avoids planning the same hand-turning routine needed with a simple one-sided feeder. It is especially relevant when incoming forms regularly have information on both sides.
Use a representative complete batch when checking a machine. Confirm page order, blank-page treatment, color and the resulting file before making the workflow routine. Mixed sizes and delicate originals deserve their own loading decisions rather than being forced into a single stack.
The glass and documented feeder size range cover ordinary Legal documents. Glass access matters for originals that should not travel through rollers. The enhanced EveryPage feature, pull-out keyboard and embedded OCR associated with the Flow z package should not be assumed on this exact non-Flow h configuration.
Network-folder setup determines whether scanning reaches the computer
The established office route is Ethernet scanning to an administrator-configured network folder. The destination needs a valid path, suitable permissions and a compatible server or shared computer. A reachable printer does not by itself prove that the destination folder will accept files.
Set up the folder and test delivery after a restart. Check who can retrieve the files and how names are assigned. Those practical steps matter more than a feature list when several people will use the same capture button.
The computer USB printing connection and the walk-up USB memory-device port are different paths. A memory-stick scanning option should not be taken as confirmation of direct scanning into an arbitrary computer application over USB.
Start with the supplied two-tray arrangement
The base M630h supplies a 100-sheet multipurpose input and a 500-sheet cassette. That is its 600-sheet ordinary-paper starting point. Larger feeders, a cabinet and a stapling mailbox change the installation and require the correct additional equipment.
Automatic two-sided output is included, but the chosen stock still needs supported size, weight and software settings. Check the actual job rather than assuming that every material accepted for single-sided printing can follow the duplex path.
Envelope work uses its instructed loading routine. A dedicated larger envelope feeder is a separate accessory. Compare the frequency of these jobs with the effort of changing paper and collecting finished output.
Keep fax and wireless requirements explicit
USB and Ethernet are supplied. Wireless and Direct arrangements need optional hardware, and analog fax is optional on the exact J7X28A configuration. If either is essential, inspect the installed equipment rather than relying on a broad family description.
The included hard disk supports documented private desktop jobs through compatible software. Test holding a file and releasing it at the control panel with the assigned PIN. That routine is separate from cloud pull-print services or an optional authentication accessory.
Inspect an earlier office machine as a complete installation
This is an earlier commercial model, and HP marks the US product discontinued. Confirm current drivers, electrical rating, supplies, feeder condition and access for service. Its body dimensions do not include all the space needed to open trays and the scanner lid.
Choose it when the wired capture route and supplied paper arrangement suit the office. Compare alternatives when color output, built-in fax, cable-free placement or a smaller installation are central requirements.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
HP declares 60 Letter or 57 A4 monochrome pages per minute. Recommended monthly output is 5,000–28,000 pages, distinct from the 250,000-page maximum Letter duty figure. No measured timing is claimed.
Paper handling
Supplied input is a 100-sheet bypass plus a 500-sheet cassette. The larger feeder, cabinet and finishing mailbox are optional. Only one additional feeder arrangement can be fitted at once. Automatic duplex hardware is included; paper-specific limits remain unconfirmed here. A dedicated envelope feeder is optional.
Scanning arrangement
The exact non-Flow J7X28A has a 100-sheet single-pass two-sided color feeder, confirmed by the explicit US model matrix and exact US product page. Both glass and feeder cover ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. Enhanced Flow z features are not transferred. Computer delivery uses a configured compatible Ethernet share with valid access; USB flash scanning does not prove computer USB scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
Included computer USB and Gigabit Ethernet; Wi-Fi, legacy Wireless Direct and NFC require optional Jetdirect accessories. The guide forbids combining certain radio accessories; verify installed hardware. Historical driver and network-folder compatibility must be checked on actual computers.
Supplies and declared yields
The original guide identifies HP 81A CF281A and 81X CF281X black supplies. Check exact regional maintenance parts and installed condition; declared yield is not remaining toner or current cost.
Software and support
The exact non-Flow h includes a 320 GB secure disk. Compatible desktop Personal Job mode supports PIN/password release through Retrieve from Device Memory. Cloud pull-print, optional TPM and badges are separate arrangements.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US J7X28A#BGJ, marked discontinued and commercial Class A. Body: 29 × 25.3 × 22.4 inches, 113.7 lb including cartridge. Check the actual electrical plate and allow tray, lid, cover and service access.
