Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an Ethernet office scan both sides of Legal originals in color, print Legal duplex with PIN release and retain 2,100 input sheets for 10,000 monthly printed pages?
Qualifies with the complete z package, compatible driver, configured SMTP server and suitable telephone service. Scanned files arrive as email attachments, and feeder duplex reverses the original.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its Ethernet scan route capture both sides in a single pass?
Fails. The exact source positively identifies a reversing feeder, so automatic duplex does not establish single-pass capture.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the supplied paper package hold 2,100 A3 sheets while printing automatic duplex over USB?
Fails the capacity requirement. Tray 2 excludes A3, leaving 1,850 supported A3 sheets in the complete z package.

The HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M725z combines monochrome printing and copying with color scanning, analog fax and an inline stapler/stacker. Its six supplied inputs total 2,100 ordinary sheets. The reason to consider this configuration is a substantial shared document station, with the important qualifications that large paper uses fewer trays and the duplex scanner reverses originals.
The exact US reference identifies CF068A#BGJ. HP explicitly maps that option to 110–127 VAC at 50/60 Hz and identifies the device as FCC Class A commercial equipment. The separate higher-voltage edition is not interchangeable. The surviving US page does not establish present stock or a usable zero-dollar offer, and this assessment makes neither claim.
Declared printing reaches 40 Letter pages per minute, separately 41 ppm on A4. HP recommends 5,000–20,000 printed pages monthly, against a much higher 200,000-page maximum duty figure. Scan rates and images per minute describe different operations, not the printer's measured output.
A3 capacity is smaller than the overall headline
The original z configuration includes the 100-sheet multipurpose input, two 250-sheet trays and three 500-sheet feeders with a stand. Its total differs from the z+ high-capacity package. Check that the actual offered unit retains all of the assessed trays.
The operating table marks Letter, Legal and A4 in all six inputs. A3 and 11-by-17-inch Tabloid fit the multipurpose tray, Tray 3 and the three 500-sheet feeders, but not Tray 2. Their supported included capacity therefore totals 1,850 sheets. A general 2,100-sheet headline does not satisfy a 2,100-sheet A3 requirement.
Automatic print duplex is explicitly supported for these five ordinary sizes. Choose the correct media, size and binding settings in a compatible desktop driver. The 250- and 500-sheet cassette ratings use 75-g/m², 20-lb paper; thick or special stock has different limits. Envelopes use the multipurpose tray alone, up to ten, and do not inherit duplex permission.
Automatic feeder duplex involves a reversing pass
The 100-page feeder supports automatic two-sided color capture, but HP specifically calls it a reversing ADF. It is not a dual-head single-pass scanner. This distinction matters when comparing a requirement to capture both sides without reversing the original.
The exact US support reference gives an 11-by-17-inch feeder maximum, while a regional metric page lists A3 dimensions. Letter, Legal and A4 feeder originals are established here; the differing larger-format descriptions should be checked for the actual intended original. A general scan maximum is also insufficient to assign a specific size to the flatbed. Its physical route is confirmed, with exact glass sizes left uncommitted in the finder.
For network capture, enable the required digital-send feature in the Embedded Web Server first. Saving to a shared folder requires an accessible path, appropriate permissions and credentials. The original panel procedure accepts glass or feeder originals and provides additional job settings before starting.
Email is another route, requiring a configured outgoing mail server. The actual procedure explicitly permits two-sided originals through Original Sides. Scans reach the computer as attachments; this is not direct USB scanner acquisition. A computer USB print connection and the front USB flash-drive socket serve separate purposes.
Job release and finishing have their own controls
The documented Personal Job mode can require a PIN before output. Set it in a compatible driver, then retrieve the named job at the device and enter the PIN. A general administrator password is a different control. The original guide's 320 GB storage description differs from current model specifications listing at least 500 GB; the supported job procedure does not depend on promising one capacity for every revision.
The inline stapler supports up to 30 sheets of suitable ordinary paper and a 500-sheet stack. A single-sheet job or a job exceeding the stapling limit can be delivered without a staple. Output capacity is not additional blank-paper input.
Plan the network, supplies and installation
Computer USB and Gigabit Ethernet are included. Wireless servers are accessories. AirPrint and Mopria can use an appropriate shared network with applicable firmware, but their mobile jobs do not inherit desktop PIN controls, exact paper capacities or scanning.
The US model page lists CF214A toner around 10,000 pages and CF214X around 17,500, using its stated ISO/IEC 19752 declaration. An erroneous color-cartridge table in the shared guide is excluded. The US body figure is approximately 29.3 by 26.8 by 46.9 inches and 206.3 pounds; a regional metric weight differs. Verify the actual assembly and allow considerably more space for operation before choosing this large office station.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker-declared up to 40 Letter ppm and separately 41 A4 ppm, not a measured review rate. Recommended recurring print volume 5,000–20,000 versus 200,000 maximum duty. Scan volume and duplex images per minute are separate quantities.
Paper handling
Exact z includes 100 plus two 250 plus three 500 ordinary input sheets and stand, totaling 2,100 for Letter/Legal/A4. Tray 2 excludes A3/Tabloid, leaving 1,850 for those sizes. All five positively checked for automatic print duplex. Cassette rating basis 75 g/m², 20 lb; actual media limits apply. Up to ten envelopes from Tray 1 only, face up and short postage end leading, without duplex promise. Stapler 30 ordinary sheets and output 250/500 are separate from blank input.
Scanning arrangement
100-page color/monochrome automatic duplex feeder is explicitly reversing, not single-pass. Exact US support gives 11 × 17-inch maximum, while regional metric page lists 297 × 420 mm; Letter/Legal/A4 confirmed here and larger-size regional discrepancy retained. Flatbed route positively confirmed but exact glass sizes remain unknown. Configured network folder accepts glass or feeder; actual SMTP job explicitly provides Original Sides, 2-sided. No direct USB computer scanner route inferred from front flash-drive scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
Included rear computer USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet; optional Jetdirect wireless servers excluded. AirPrint/Mopria use suitable shared local network with applicable firmware, with no borrowing desktop scan, capacity, PIN or duplex controls. Telephone service and flash-drive USB are separate from computer connections.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact US model lists CF214A black around 10,000 pages and CF214X around 17,500, declared ISO/IEC 19752; original box around 10,000. Regional page has a different ISO standard label. Shared UG physical 64 incorrectly lists unrelated 651A color supplies and is excluded. Remaining toner, live availability and cost per page unestablished.
Software and support
Compatible computer print driver supports Personal Job PIN and named retrieval. Digital-send features must be enabled in EWS, shared paths/permissions/credentials prepared; SMTP requires an outgoing server and any required authentication. Email scans are attachment delivery to a computer. Historical Windows/Mac lists do not guarantee present compatibility. Guide 320 GB versus current minimum 500 GB disk difference retained without exact capacity promise.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US CF068A#BGJ explicitly maps to 110–127 VAC, 50/60 Hz, separate from #AAZ higher voltage; actual plate required. FCC Class A commercial equipment. US body 29.3 × 26.8 × 46.9 inches, maximum 36.1 × 40.6 × 46.9, weight 206.3 lb with unstated cartridge basis; regional 92.35-kg weight differs. Living US technical reference is not a stock or price claim; no official discontinued status established.
