A useful fit for

A prepared commercial computer setup needing ordinary Letter, Legal or A4 within the 1,500–5,000 monthly recommendation.

The main tradeoff

Second sides need platform-specific manual reloading. Wireless hardware is optional, mobile protocols and exact body depth remain unconfirmed, and personal jobs delete at power-off.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a direct USB computer print ordinary Legal with 600 sheets and temporary PIN release for 5,000 monthly pages?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a compatible driver. Both included inputs support Legal at the stated ordinary-paper basis. Personal Job/PIN is documented, with deletion at power-off and available-memory conditions.

Will the n automatically turn Letter pages on the wired network?

Fails automatic duplex. P3015n uses the instructed manual return; the different dn and x include automatic hardware.

Does its Ethernet and Bonjour listing establish AirPrint for an Apple mobile client?

Fails the essential AirPrint requirement because an exact supported mobile operating arrangement remains unconfirmed. Network transport and a general protocol listing do not establish AirPrint by themselves.

A network printer with a staffed second-side workflow

The HP LaserJet Enterprise P3015n fits a prepared office needing monochrome documents, a 600-sheet ordinary-paper supply and temporary computer-driver PIN release. Gigabit Ethernet is included, alongside a direct USB connection. Its central limitation is manual duplex: the n does not contain the automatic mechanism documented for P3015dn and P3015x.

The exact HP US page identifies CE527A#ABA and marks it discontinued. This earlier review describes the documented low-voltage configuration rather than a current offer or a particular used unit. The exact US record specifies a commercial Class A setting, although an older North American brochure lists Class B; verify the actual unit and follow the more restrictive US installation guidance.

Start with the actual two trays

Tray 1 holds 100 sheets and the normal lower drawer holds 500, at the original 20-lb/75-g/m² basis. The actual size table supports Letter, Legal and A4 in both. Six hundred sheets of one selected size means both inputs contain it. Additional 500-sheet feeders are separately purchased and do not count as included.

Open the front tray and pull out its extension. Keep paper under the tabs and below the height indicators, then set the guides gently against its edges. Remove the lower drawer to set its side and rear guides, keep the stack flat at all four corners and slide the drawer fully home. HP warns against fanning paper or loading trays during printing.

The panel's configuration prompt matters: the original accepts the current size/type with the back arrow and changes them with OK. Tray 1 at Any Size and Any Type behaves differently and may not show that prompt. Matching the actual stock and the driver's size/type helps prevent accidental use of letterhead or another special supply.

Follow the correct platform when turning the stack

For the original Windows driver, load the initial paper face up in Tray 1 or face down in Tray 2, then choose Print on both sides manually under Finishing. After the first pass, return the printed stack face down to Tray 1 or face up to Tray 2 and press OK for the second sides.

The separate original Macintosh routine has a different return: remove blank front-tray paper, follow the computer prompt and put the printed stack face up into Tray 1 with the top edge entering first. Its second pass must use that front input. These are platform-specific instructions, not interchangeable directions.

Either routine needs a person to retrieve and reload the output. A general P3015-series paper-saving claim does not make the n an unattended duplex printer. Choose an independently verified dn or x assembly if that is essential.

Connect a real computer and hold its output

The included rear USB 2.0 computer port uses an A-to-B cable no longer than two meters; the cable is separate. On Ethernet, print a configuration page to find the address and use it for the compatible host's network setup and embedded Web interface. Historical driver lists are not a promise of current operating-system support.

The original Windows Job Storage dialog offers Personal Job and a four-digit PIN. At the printer, open Retrieve Job with the folder button or menu, choose the user and job, select Print or Print and Delete, enter the PIN and set the copies. This temporary routine does not require assuming that an optional encrypted EIO hard disk is installed.

HP explicitly deletes Personal, Proof and Hold and Quick Copy jobs at power-off. Job names can receive a number or replace a prior file according to the driver's setting, while space pressure can remove older stored work. Keep the original document available rather than treating the printer as its only archive.

Use special media through its proper path

The front path supports ordinary stock from 60 to 199 g/m²; the lower path is limited to 60–120 g/m². These weight limits do not preserve the nominal capacity for thicker material. Use laser-approved stock and select the actual paper type rather than treating every printable sheet like plain paper.

Up to ten 75–90-g/m² envelopes go only in Tray 1, face up with the short postage end leading into the printer. Select their actual size and type. Opening and extending the rear output gives the straightest path and reverses output order; do not move that door while printing.

Keep mobile and flash-drive claims narrow

Wireless print servers and the parallel card are optional. Bonjour or IPP in a protocol list does not independently establish AirPrint or Mopria, and the reviewed originals do not confirm either mobile arrangement. A generic trademark credit is also insufficient.

The front host socket is a separate walk-up file route, not the computer cable connection or a scanner. The original guide supports specified PDF, XPS, PCL and PS files; the older brochure lists a different short set. Confirm the actual device and file rather than expecting arbitrary office applications to open there.

Assess workload, supply and fit before buying

HP recommends 1,500–5,000 monthly pages, distinct from its 100,000-page maximum duty. Original one-sided speed is up to 42 Letter pages per minute, separately 40 A4, without a new measured claim. CE255A and separately purchased CE255X replacement yields use ISO/IEC 19752 conditions and do not establish current cost per page.

The agreed body width is 17.6 inches and height 12.4. Exact depth remains unconfirmed because original sources differ. The brochure lists 35 pounds without the cartridge; allow full opening and service access. Verify the actual 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz plate and remember that this print-only model cannot scan, copy or fax.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact originals declare up to 42 one-sided Letter ppm, separately 40 A4. Recommended monthly volume is 1,500–5,000 pages, distinct from maximum duty 100,000. No test result or duplex-speed figure inferred.

Paper handling

Included front 100 plus lower 500 totals 600 ordinary 20-lb/75-g/m² sheets; actual Letter/Legal/A4 checkmarks appear in both input columns. Full selected-size capacity assumes both contain it. Set guides, keep paper flat below tabs/height marks, do not fan or load during printing, and match panel size/type to the computer job. Tray 1 Any Size/Any Type may suppress its prompt. Front ordinary range 60–199 g/m², lower 60–120. Windows manual duplex returns the printed stack face down to Tray 1 or face up to Tray 2, then OK. Original Mac manual routine instead returns printed side up/top entering in Tray 1; do not mix platform directions. Up to ten 75–90-g/m² envelopes use Tray 1 face up/short postage end entering and correct size/type; rear open and extended gives the straightest face-up, reverse-order path. Extra feeders are optional; standard n has no automatic duplex.

Scanning arrangement

This is a monochrome print-only printer without a physical scanner, flatbed, document feeder, copy or fax function. The four-line text display and generic software names do not add scanning hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Gigabit Ethernet and rear Hi-Speed USB 2.0 support a compatible computer driver. Original USB cable is A-to-B, at most 2 m, and purchased separately. Front host USB serves specified flash-drive files rather than the computer cable. Wireless print servers and parallel EIO card are optional, not included connections.

Supplies and declared yields

Original replacements are CE255A/55A and separately purchased high-capacity CE255X/55X, with declared average yields of 6,000 and 12,500 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. Original box lists a full-capacity approximately 6,000-page cartridge, not an included 55X. No installed remainder, current supply price, stock or cost per page inferred.

Software and support

Original Windows Job Storage offers Personal Job with a four-digit PIN. Use the folder button or Menu/Retrieve Job, choose user/job, select Print or Print and Delete, enter PIN and copies. The guide explicitly deletes Personal, Proof and Hold and Quick Copy jobs at power-off. Names may gain a number or replace an existing file according to driver selection; storage pressure may delete oldest jobs. Reviewed promise is the temporary Personal Job routine with available memory, not an installed encrypted hard disk, permanent archive or secure-erasure guarantee.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US CE527A#ABA is discontinued and establishes the documented 100–127-V, 50/60-Hz edition; verify actual plate and compatible driver. The separate high-voltage edition is not convertible. Current exact US page restricts use to commercial Class A, while the older North American brochure lists Class B; retain the discrepancy and use the more restrictive installation guidance. Agreed body width 17.6 inches and height 12.4; exact depth remains unconfirmed because US/brochure 16.2 differs from guide 15.7. Brochure weight is 35 lb without cartridge, versus guide rounded 35.1 lb without a stated basis. Measure actual assembly and allow opening, tray, cable and service access.
