LaserJet M209dwe (6GW62E#BGJ; US HP+ configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A small black-document workflow willing to maintain the HP+ account, Internet connection and required Original HP supplies for the printer’s life.

The main tradeoff

USB is available after network setup and does not remove the Internet requirement. Optional Instant Ink cancellation is separate from HP+; there is no physical scanner or feeder.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the HP+ USB arrangement automatically duplex black reports at a 2,000-page recommended monthly requirement?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and paper size flexible, after network setup and while maintaining Internet, the HP account and Original HP cartridges. USB does not provide an offline exemption.

Can shared-network Mopria print ordinary Legal documents from the 150-sheet input?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a suitable supported network, while all HP+ conditions remain satisfied. This does not add an automatic-Legal-duplex claim.

Can this Ethernet HP+ printer scan originals through an automatic feeder?

Fails. It has no physical scanner or document feeder. App camera scanning is a different activity.

Decide about HP+ before the print hardware

The HP LaserJet M209dwe can handle small-office black documents with automatic duplex, a compact body and several connection options. Its deciding condition is HP+: this configuration requires an HP account, an ongoing Internet connection and exclusive Original HP cartridges for the printer's life. Those requirements remain relevant even when the document is sent by USB.

HP identifies the exact US configuration as 6GW62E#BGJ and explicitly marks it discontinued. Assess it as an earlier reference and check the actual unit's setup status and condition. It is a reasonable fit only when the HP+ conditions suit the intended workflow. An offline USB-only requirement calls for a different documented configuration.

USB follows network setup and does not replace it

The original E-series guide requires first setup through Internet-connected Wi-Fi or Ethernet. A label can cover the USB socket. After completing network setup, the owner can remove that label and use USB, but the printer must still remain connected to the Internet. This is an operating dependency, not merely a download requirement for installing a driver.

The included network choices are 10/100 Ethernet and dual-band infrastructure Wi-Fi. Connecting Ethernet automatically disables the infrastructure wireless connection, so plan the desired arrangement. Bluetooth helps the setup app find the printer; it is not a Bluetooth print connection. Use compatible software and separately supplied cables where required.

AirPrint and Mopria are documented mobile choices on a suitable shared network. The original guide also describes AirPrint using Wi-Fi Direct when the device joins the printer's peer signal. That direct job still does not cancel the printer's separate HP+ Internet requirement. Mobile automatic-duplex behavior and held-job PIN release are not established by those protocol names.

Automatic duplex in a single-tray machine

The M209dwe has one 150-sheet input and no second standard cassette. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 are supported. The published supported media-weight range is not a weight basis for a full 150-sheet stack, so heavier media should not be assumed to fit at the headline capacity.

The original routine removes the existing stack, loads one size face up with the top forward and moves the guides to the paper. Legal loading can require leaving the cover open. Envelopes use the same emptied tray, face up with the postage end toward the back. This is useful for occasional envelopes, but it means changing stock rather than selecting a permanently loaded second input.

Automatic two-sided printing is standard. Its exact supported paper-size list was not established in the read material, so desktop duplex can qualify with paper size flexible; a specific size still needs confirmation. Supported Legal input is not automatically proof of Legal duplex. The 100-sheet output tray should also remain separate from the input count.

Printing, camera scanning and monthly volume

This is a monochrome print-only laser. The original parts and controls provide no physical scanner, copy platen, feeder or fax. App descriptions about scanning and sending fax documents refer to functions on the phone or computer, not additional hardware inside the printer. A buyer needing to digitize paper originals should choose an actual documented multifunction model.

The exact original US sheet declares up to 30 black Letter pages per minute, separately from up to 19 duplex images per minute. Neither figure is a result measured for this review. HP recommends 200 to 2,000 pages monthly; its 20,000-page maximum duty figure is a different limit and should not be used as the normal workload recommendation.

Supplies and the space around the printer

The supplied black cartridge is declared at about 700 pages. Replacement W1340A and W1340X cartridges declare 1,100 and 2,400 pages under ISO/IEC 19752 continuous-printing conditions. Actual yield varies. The Original HP-only requirement belongs to this E configuration, and the original guide warns that refilled or non-Original cartridges do not operate as expected.

Instant Ink is a separate optional service. Its cancellation terms should not be interpreted as removing HP+ requirements, and an old introductory promotion is not a current entitlement. The exact body measures 13.98 by 11 by 8.07 inches and weighs 12.35 pounds; allow more room for loading and service. The US electrical specification is 110–127 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Choose this model for compatible connected black printing, with its account and supply commitments understood in advance.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact original US data sheet rates Letter simplex black up to 30 ppm, separately from duplex up to 19 ipm. Recommended monthly 200–2,000 pages differs from maximum 20,000 Letter pages. These maker declarations are not measured results, and A4 speed is not substituted for Letter.

Paper handling

Single standard and maximum 150-sheet input; ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 positively supported. Capacity paper-weight basis unestablished; supported 60–163 g/m² media range is not an invented full-stack basis. Original Legal loading may leave the tray cover open. Automatic duplex standard but exact duplex paper-size list unconfirmed. Envelopes use the same emptied tray face up/postage end toward the back as a separate job. Output 100 is not input.

Scanning arrangement

Exact US print-only black laser and original complete parts/control panel contain no physical scanner, original feeder, copier or fax. Smartphone camera scanning or sending a fax from an app does not add those hardware functions. LED describes the panel, not the laser imaging method.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact original data sheet and support confirm USB device, 10/100 Ethernet, 2.4/5-GHz infrastructure Wi-Fi and actual Wi-Fi Direct. Original E guide requires first setup through Internet-connected Wi-Fi or Ethernet; USB may be used afterward but the printer must retain Internet. Ethernet disables infrastructure Wi-Fi. Bluetooth supports discovery only, not printing.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact US introductory black cartridge declares about 700 pages. W1340A 134A replacement declares 1,100 and W1340X 134X 2,400 under ISO/IEC 19752 continuous-printing conditions. Actual yields vary. The E model’s Original HP-only HP+ condition is retained rather than borrowing the non-e reused-chip policy as a refilling promise. No current availability, subscription price or cost per page is claimed.

Software and support

HP+ requires an HP account, ongoing Internet and exclusive Original HP cartridges for printer life. All plans retain those conditions, including direct USB and peer Wi-Fi Direct. Original guide says non-Original or refilled cartridges do not work as expected. Instant Ink is a separate optional service with separate cancellation terms; no current trial entitlement promised. AirPrint/Mopria use a suitable shared network; direct AirPrint is separately documented. Mobile duplex/PIN release remain unconfirmed; EWS setup PIN is not held-job release.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact discontinued US 6GW62E#BGJ body is 13.98 × 11 × 8.07 inches, 12.35 lb with exact-row cartridge basis unspecified. Original shared guide lists 13.98 × 11.07 × 8.08 inches with cartridges and different fully-open dimensions; current exact row controls body display, with source variation retained. Exact US/data-sheet power states 110–127 VAC at 50/60 Hz; global two-edition support row does not mean universal voltage. Allow paper and service access; cables separate.
