Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible USB computer print black Legal documents on both sides, scan Legal color originals, copy and fax with 300 ordinary sheets available?
Qualifies with earlier models enabled, the full compatible computer setup and separate suitable telephone service for fax. The included inputs total 300 ordinary sheets, Legal automatic print duplex is documented, and Legal color originals use the 50-sheet feeder. Automatic two-sided scan files are not promised by this plan.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I use included office Wi-Fi for computer printing?
Fails. The exact nf original interface scope provides USB 2.0 and wired Ethernet, with separate fax ports. An added wireless bridge or another model is not included in this configuration.
Explore this need in the finder →Do the documented two-sided copies prove automatic two-sided Letter scan files over Ethernet?
Does not qualify on the reviewed evidence. Automatic 2-to-2 copying is expressly documented, but the computer scanning steps do not establish automatic duplex file capture or its mechanism. That selected scan requirement remains unconfirmed rather than being borrowed from copying.

The HP LaserJet M2727nf combines monochrome printing, copying, color scanning and analog fax with automatic print duplex. Its useful role is an established USB or Ethernet office that can maintain compatible full scanning software. It is less suitable when the main requirement is current mobile printing, wireless networking or independently confirmed automatic two-sided scan files.
This review concerns discontinued US CB532A#ABA and the documented 110–127-V, 50/60-Hz configuration. The M2727nfs adds another 250-sheet cassette and a convenience stapler; those are not included in the nf reviewed here. Historical support and installation instructions do not guarantee a current OS driver or an unused surviving unit.
HP rates Letter printing at up to 27 ppm and A4 at up to 26 ppm. The original US sheet recommends 750–3,000 printed pages monthly, distinct from the 15,000-page maximum printer duty figure. These are published declarations, not review measurements.
Keep the computer involved in Scan To
Included computer interfaces are Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. Install the compatible exact-model software, connecting USB when the installer requests it or identifying the actual printer by its configuration-page IP address on the wired network. The complete original interface list does not include Wi-Fi.
The guide explicitly permits the Start Scan route over USB or a network. Its Windows workflow uses HP LaserJet Scan, while Macintosh uses HP Director; TWAIN and the documented Windows WIA arrangement are alternatives. These paths deliver electronic files to a computer, unlike copying a page onto paper.
The panel's Scan To feature depends on a full software installation, running HP ToolboxFX, an available computer and previously programmed destinations. Use the scanning software to add a computer file location, application or email action, update the destination list, then select that destination on the printer and start capture.
Email uses a compatible MAPI mail program on the computer. This is not standalone SMTP delivery just because an Ethernet socket and email destination exist. The documented older Linux/UNIX print-only installations also do not inherit full scanning functionality. Verify the exact software arrangement before depending on panel convenience.
Color capture and two-sided copying are separate promises
The 50-sheet original feeder accepts Letter, A4 and Legal documents; the glass is described as Letter/A4. Color capture is independently documented at up to 300 ppi through the feeder or 1,200 ppi on the glass, despite the black-and-white print engine.
Load feeder originals face up, top first, and extend their support for longer pages. Use the glass for photographs, small or fragile originals, and keep staples or correction materials out of the feeder. The original scan procedure accepts either feeder or glass input.
The manual explicitly documents automatic 2-to-2 copying: select that option with the physical 2-Sided button and start the copy job. However, the reviewed computer-scanning steps do not positively establish an automatic two-sided file workflow or its physical mechanism. This finder therefore does not qualify automatic duplex or single-pass scanning. That is an evidence limit, not a claim that the documented duplex copying feature is absent.
Count the included 300 sheets
The standard inputs are a 50-sheet multipurpose tray and 250-sheet cassette, rated with 75-g/m², 20-lb ordinary paper. Their 300-sheet reserve excludes the 125-sheet output, original feeder and optional third cassette. Letter, Legal and A4 print sizes are documented; the US sheet expressly confirms Letter and Legal for the automatic duplex unit.
Adjust the guides for actual size and type. The main cassette loads ordinary stock face down, top forward; remove old media and straighten replenished stock without fanning. Set the tray's size and type at the panel or in ToolboxFX. For automatic duplex letterhead, the guide specifies front up/bottom first in Tray 1, or front down/top toward the back in the other input. Duplex stock must not exceed 105 g/m².
Envelopes use Tray 1 only, up to five below the stated weight limit; labels also use Tray 1, up to ten sheets. Select the actual special-media size and type. A3 or 11 × 17-inch Tabloid is not supported.
Fax and supplies have their own dependencies
The fax modem uses a telephone-line arrangement; HP recommends a dedicated analog line. USB or Ethernet does not replace that connection. Private Receive protects incoming faxes, and administration passwords protect settings; neither establishes PIN-held computer printing.
Replacement Q7553A is declared at about 3,000 pages or Q7553X at about 7,000, under ISO/IEC 19752. Those are nominal replacement yields, not remaining toner. The US brochure lists a 19.7 × 16 × 18-inch body and 37.8 lb without a cartridge-weight basis. A larger dimensions table in the guide differs, so check the actual unit and allow scanner, feeder, front supply, rear output and cable clearance.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Original exact nf configuration rates Letter monochrome output at up to 27 ppm and A4 at up to 26 ppm. US sheet recommends 750–3,000 printed pages monthly, distinct from 15,000 maximum printer duty. Feeder copying/scanning and fax-storage figures have separate bases; no review measurement is invented.
Paper handling
Included 50-sheet multipurpose input plus 250-sheet main cassette total 300 ordinary 75-g/m², 20-lb sheets; output 125, original feeder 50 and optional lower cassette are separate. Letter, Legal and A4 printing are confirmed, with automatic print duplex positively sized for Letter/Legal by the US sheet; A4 automatic duplex size is unconfirmed in the reviewed specific table. Main ordinary stock loads face down/top forward with size guides adjusted; remove and straighten new stock without fanning. Set actual tray size/type. Automatic duplex letterhead: Tray 1 front up/bottom first; other input front down/top back. Duplex weight must not exceed 105 g/m². Envelopes use Tray 1 only, up to five below 90 g/m²; labels use Tray 1 up to ten, correct driver type/size. No optional tray counted.
Scanning arrangement
Independent color capture on Letter/A4 glass up to 1,200 ppi and 50-sheet Letter/Legal/A4 feeder up to 300 ppi. Feeder originals load face up/top first and longer-than-Letter/A4 originals use its extension; fragile/photo/small originals use glass. Full compatible HP LaserJet Scan, HP Director, TWAIN or documented WIA setup provides computer capture. Start Scan explicitly supports USB or network. Scan To needs full install, running ToolboxFX, programmed destinations and the destination computer on. Original 2-to-2 automatic copying is positive, but reviewed computer scanning steps do not establish automatic duplex file capture or a single-pass mechanism; those remain unknown and do not qualify selected essentials.
Computer and mobile connections
Included computer USB 2.0 and Ethernet 10/100, with separate RJ-11 analog fax/telephone connections. No included Wi-Fi documented in the complete original interface scope. Connect USB when the compatible installer prompts; wired installation selects the actual configuration-page IP. Scan To file/application/email is computer-assisted; MAPI email is not native SMTP. Bonjour discovery alone does not establish AirPrint or Mopria. No mobile plan or optional wireless adapter borrowed.
Supplies and declared yields
Original US Q7553A replacement declares approximately 3,000 pages or Q7553X approximately 7,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Neither figure is remaining toner or a measured editorial test. A cartridge is listed in the historical box, without assigning an unconfirmed remaining/full replacement yield. No current price or lifetime HP+ commitment is invented.
Software and support
Original Windows HP LaserJet Scan, Macintosh HP Director, TWAIN and documented WIA workflows require their actual compatible installation. Full panel Scan To additionally needs ToolboxFX running, computer on and destinations configured/updated through scan software. Older print-only Linux/UNIX arrangements do not inherit capture. No current OS compatibility guarantee is made from legacy installation lists. Automatic 2-to-2 copies are documented separately from unconfirmed duplex scan files. Private Receive protects incoming faxes and settings passwords protect administration; held-print PIN remains unknown.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US CB532A#ABA is explicitly discontinued and original low-voltage model is 110–127 V, 50/60 Hz, separate from 220–240-V versions. nf excludes the nfs included extra cassette and convenience stapler. US sheet body is 19.7 W × 16 D × 18 H inches and 37.8 lb, cartridge-weight basis unstated; guide table instead lists 19.7 × 25.6 × 27.2 inches and is retained as a source difference, not mislabeled automatically as shipping or open dimensions. Check actual scanner, feeder, front supply, rear output and cable clearance. Fax additionally needs suitable telephone service; HP recommends a dedicated analog line.
