M3035Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A wired office within 2,000–6,000 monthly pages using configured SMTP email or a compatible network folder for computer scan delivery.

The main tradeoff

USB does not deliver scans. No analog fax or standard wireless; network destination and credentials must be configured, and duplex ADF is reversing rather than single-pass.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the base M3035 print duplex Legal, copy and deliver color two-sided Legal scans over Ethernet with 600 included sheets?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a configured compatible SMTP gateway/recipient or administrator-enabled network folder with credentials. The Legal glass and reversing ADF are real; the scan is not single-pass.

Can USB alone deliver its scanned files to the connected computer?

Fails. HP explicitly requires network Jetdirect for Send to Email/Folder; the USB type B route is credited for printing and local copy only.

Can this base model satisfy print, scan, copy and analog fax together?

Fails. Analog fax is not available on base CC476A and cannot be added as the xs accessory.

The base M3035 already includes both kinds of duplex

The HP LaserJet M3035 is an earlier monochrome multifunction printer with color scanning, copying and configured network digital sending. HP's original US selection guide identifies the base model as CC476A. This assessment covers its documented 110–127-volt, 60-Hz configuration. An inherited CC476A#BCC package suffix was not independently crosswalked and is not used as proof of a precise US SKU.

The base hardware includes automatic two-sided printing and a reversing automatic document feeder. These are separately documented capabilities, rather than guesses from a model suffix. It does not include the xs model's analog fax, convenience stapler or additional 500-sheet cassette. The HP specification explicitly says fax and the stapler cannot be added to this base model as accessories.

Legal scanning is available on the glass and in the feeder

The color flatbed accepts originals up to 8.5 by 14 inches, including Legal. This is a genuine Legal-size glass, rather than a Letter glass borrowing its feeder's larger size. Use it for receipts, photographs, irregular or worn originals that should not travel through a feeder.

The included 50-sheet ADF supports Letter, Legal and A4 originals and automatically handles both sides through a reversing path. It is not a single-pass scanner. Choose the original's size and sides correctly before sending or copying. The feeder sheet count depends on suitable media and thickness; stapled or fragile originals belong on the glass. Automatic two-sided copying uses the feeder, and the guide does not promise two-sided flatbed copying as one automatic operation.

Choose Ethernet when scans must reach a computer

The included Fast Ethernet connection supports printing and configured scan delivery. Email requires a working SMTP gateway and an actual recipient; the manual describes sending the scanned file as an attachment. Network-folder delivery requires an administrator-enabled compatible destination and, where necessary, credentials. These are setup requirements, not a promise that every current mail or file server accepts the device's historical protocols.

The USB type B port supports computer printing. HP's separate support article expressly states that Scan to Email and Scan to Folder are not supported over USB. A USB-only installation can still print and make local copies, but it is not credited with computer scan delivery. Host USB for accessories is a different connection. Optional Digital Sending Software workflow functions are not treated as standard.

A compatible print driver can use automatic duplex and Private Job printing with a four-digit PIN released at the panel. Test the actual driver and release controls. No built-in wireless, Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint or Mopria setup was established, and an embedded web interface is not evidence of a mobile-printing protocol.

Six hundred included sheets and a defined monthly range

Standard paper input is 100-sheet Tray 1 plus 500-sheet Tray 2. The original matrix supports Letter, Legal and A4 in those feeds and in automatic duplex. The optional third cassette is excluded from the base model's 600-sheet count. Occasional envelopes use up to ten in Tray 1 with the correct media setting; they do not go in the main cassette.

One media table lists duplex stock to 120 g/m², while the actual automatic-duplex procedure cautions against more than 105 g/m². This review retains the more restrictive 60–105 g/m² working guidance. The maker's one-sided rate is up to 35 Letter pages per minute, separately 33 A4, not scan speed or our test. Recommended volume is 2,000 to 6,000 monthly pages, distinct from the 75,000-page maximum duty cycle.

Replacement toner choices are 51A Q7551A at approximately 6,500 pages and 51X Q7551X at approximately 13,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Check remaining toner, sample output, configuration and network-send operation on the actual machine. The included hard disk supports job storage but does not replace a working destination setup.

The later HP sheet gives a body about 20.5 inches wide, 20 deep and 21.7 high, weighing 60.6 pounds with toner. Earlier guide dimensions differ slightly, so measure if clearance is tight and allow lid, tray and service access. A complete M3035 can suit a wired office needing Legal color capture and monochrome duplex, provided its network delivery requirements and lack of fax fit the work.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Maker maximum 35 one-sided Letter print pages per minute, separately 33 A4. Not scan IPM, duplex throughput or an actual-unit test. Recommended 2,000–6,000 monthly pages; maximum monthly duty 75,000 is separate.

Paper handling

Base CC476A includes 100-sheet Tray 1 and 500-sheet Tray 2, 600 standard Letter/Legal/A4 sheets. Added 500-sheet Tray 3 is optional. Automatic duplex supports Letter/Legal/A4; table permits 60–120 g/m² but procedural warning limits to 105, so 60–105 retained. Ten envelopes use Tray 1 only.

Scanning arrangement

Legal-size color flatbed and 50-sheet automatic reversing ADF support Letter/Legal/A4 originals. Duplex scan is reversing, not single-pass. Computer delivery is configured Ethernet SMTP email attachment or an administrator-enabled compatible network folder; no USB scan-to-computer route is credited.

Computer and mobile connections

USB type B supports computer printing and local copy, not scan delivery. Included 10/100 Fast Ethernet supports printing plus configured SMTP email or administrator-enabled compatible folder scan delivery with credentials. Base has no analog fax and cannot add xs fax/stapler as accessories.

Supplies and declared yields

51A Q7551A approximately 6,500 pages and 51X Q7551X approximately 13,000, declared under ISO/IEC 19752. Replacement yield is not installed remaining toner, included-cartridge yield or a cost-per-page claim.

Software and support

Use a currently compatible print driver with automatic duplex and four-digit Private Job PIN controls. Ethernet scan delivery requires working SMTP gateway/recipient or compatible folder destination and credentials; an old Windows/Novell destination list is historical, not a current-server guarantee. Optional Digital Sending Software workflow/FTP features are not counted as included. AirPrint/Mopria are unestablished.

Electrical edition and setup

Review is limited to documented US 110–127 V, 60 Hz operation from later US HP sheet; original guide also lists broader regional 100–127 V, 50/60 Hz. Separate 220–240 V edition is not universal-voltage hardware. Confirm actual rating label and current network destination compatibility. Later 2009 HP sheet gives 20.5 × 20 in body; earlier 2007 guide rounds width/depth differently. Allow extra open-lid, tray, rear and service space.
