Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the base scan both sides of Tabloid originals in color and print Tabloid with 350 sheets ready?
Yes through the supplied reversing feeder and a compatible configured Ethernet folder; the larger paper uses the bypass and third tray.
Explore this need in the finder →Is automatic two-sided output included on the base M5035?
No. It requires the correct optional duplex accessory.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the supplied base include fax with the other functions?
No. Analog fax hardware and its supported telephone setup are optional.
Explore this need in the finder →The base model keeps the larger document capability
The HP LaserJet M5035 is an earlier monochrome multifunction model with color scanning and a larger document range. The exact Q7829A base provides a different starting package from the taller x and xs configurations, even when an offer uses a general family photograph.
It can suit an office that needs to capture or print larger sheets without requiring the supplied finishing station. Begin with the recurring document sizes and destinations. A bigger paper path is useful when it solves actual work, rather than simply making the specification look more capable.
Six hundred sheets does not mean six hundred larger sheets
The base combines a 100-sheet multipurpose input with two 250-sheet sources. That gives an ordinary Letter, Legal or A4 total of 600 sheets. The second tray has a shorter maximum supported length than the third.
For A3 or Tabloid, count the bypass and third tray: 350 ordinary sheets. The second tray should not be added merely because the general capacity total includes it. That distinction affects paper changes when larger reports or layouts make up a substantial part of the day.
Set a clear size and stock for each source and confirm the driver selection. Shared queues work more predictably when people know which source holds the larger material and do not silently change it for another job.
Output duplex and scanner duplex are separate capabilities
Automatic two-sided printing requires optional hardware on this base package. A seller describing duplex should therefore identify what is installed and show the intended output routine working. Do not borrow the supplied duplex equipment of a different suffix.
The included 50-sheet document feeder does automatically handle two-sided originals by reversing them. That scanner function can coexist with a base print package that lacks automatic two-sided output. A single duplex label does not describe both paths accurately.
The feeder is not a single-pass dual-head arrangement. Check its handling with representative originals and inspect the saved file for page order, edges, color and missing pages. Use the glass for suitable originals that should not travel through rollers.
Color capture does not mean color paper output
The print engine produces monochrome output, while the scanner can preserve color in electronic files. That is useful for filing colored annotations or incoming documents even when the office mainly distributes black printed pages.
Check whether the eventual destination needs an electronic color copy or a color paper copy. These are different requirements. Also check original-size instructions for the chosen glass or feeder path instead of assuming that every supported print size has identical handling everywhere.
Configure network delivery before making it routine
The established computer-file route uses Ethernet scanning to a configured network folder. The share needs a compatible setup, correct path, permissions and valid access. Test retrieval with the people who will use the machine and choose a clear panel destination name.
Repeat that test after a computer, server or password changes. Printing can remain available while a folder route stops accepting scans. The practical value comes from a complete maintained filing route rather than a list of destinations in a brochure.
Computer USB printing and optional external print servers should not be taken as proof of direct scanning into an arbitrary desktop application. Some accessory routes are print-only. Analog fax also needs the correct optional equipment and supported telephone setup.
Inspect what the earlier offer actually includes
Check current software compatibility, repeated paper feeding, scanner condition, representative output and supplies. Look for the exact duplex accessory, extra feeders or other equipment the seller includes. The xs automatic stapler and tower are not part of the base Q7829A package.
Confirm the regional electrical plate and leave room for loading, scanner access and service. Choose the M5035 when larger-document capture and monochrome output are recurring needs, while budgeting optional functions explicitly. Compare another arrangement when automatic two-sided output or a smaller everyday installation matters more.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Manufacturer declares 35 Letter monochrome pages per minute, recommended recurring output 3,000–12,500 monthly and maximum duty 200,000. Long landscape/ledger jobs may slow under the original footnote. No color output or measured timing is claimed.
Paper handling
Base supplies 100-sheet bypass plus two 250-sheet sources: 600 ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 sheets. Tray 2 does not accept A3/Tabloid length; those larger formats use bypass plus Tray 3, totaling 350 ordinary sheets. Automatic output duplex, extra feeders and fax are optional. No xs tower, stapler or stacker is counted. Envelopes follow the instructed bypass route.
Scanning arrangement
Base includes color flatbed and 50-sheet reversing two-sided ADF. Documented feeder range covers ordinary Letter/Legal/A4/A3/Tabloid. Glass range establishes Letter/Legal/A3/Tabloid; literal published minimum width leaves A4 glass unassigned. Configured compatible Ethernet folder delivery needs valid path and access; direct computer USB scanning remains unconfirmed.
Computer and mobile connections
Computer USB and embedded Fast Ethernet are supplied, not Gigabit. Fax and wireless accessories are optional. Some external-server routes are print-only; do not treat them as computer-scanning support. Verify current client and server compatibility.
Supplies and declared yields
Original Q7570A black cartridge family and voltage-specific maintenance parts require exact equipment matching. Check ADF and paper-path parts as well as toner. Declared yield is not remaining supply or current running cost.
Software and support
Original 256 MB memory, expandable to 512 MB, with embedded hard disk. General private-job descriptions do not establish the precise PIN driver and panel procedure here. DSS, AutoStore and advanced workflow software are optional.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US manufacturer Q7829A base reference. Original body 24×22.5×23 inches, 121 lb. Leave space for lid, input, output and service; cabinet and xs finishing tower are not supplied. Regional electrical editions differ; inspect the actual plate.
