Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an Ethernet computer print A4 duplex and scan A4 in color with 150 included sheets?
Qualifies with the configured compatible HP desktop driver/app, ordinary A4 stock and the actual flatbed scanner. No feeder is included.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it scan a full Legal original on the flatbed?
Fails the selected scanning size. Legal printing is supported, but the actual 216×297-mm glass supports Letter/A4 and is too short for a full Legal original.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a phone use AirPrint over Wi-Fi Direct without claiming the computer route’s paper or duplex controls?
Qualifies for the explicitly documented direct AirPrint route with Wi-Fi Direct enabled and actual authentication. Those extra mobile controls remain unconfirmed.

The HP LaserJet MFP M234dw suits a modest monochrome queue that also needs individual color scans and copies. It includes automatic print duplex, one 150-sheet input, computer USB, Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi. Its main limitation is document handling: this dw has a flatbed, without the automatic feeder found on a separate sdw configuration.
This review covers exact US 6GW99F#BGJ, documented for 110–127 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Match the actual electrical label, cartridge region and condition. The surviving US page is a current reference to the configuration; it does not establish stock or the condition of a particular seller's machine.
Choose a connection before installing the computer software
Rear USB works with a separately purchased cable. The original setup adds the connected printer through HP Smart and prompts account registration when required. The current US page calls this the HP app and states account/internet conditions for full app functionality. Check the current compatible driver and scan app for the intended computer.
Ethernet is 10/100Base-TX in the exact US specification. A different datasheet's isolated Gigabit entry conflicts with its own 100Base-TX network field, so do not choose this printer for a promised Gigabit link. Connecting Ethernet automatically disables the infrastructure Wi-Fi connection; disconnect the cable before switching back to wireless.
Infrastructure Wi-Fi supports both 2.4 and 5GHz. The original WPS sequence starts by holding the printer Wireless button for at least three seconds, then pressing the router's WPS button within two minutes. Its app setup may use Bluetooth/location permissions, expressly without Bluetooth printing. These details differ from other compact LaserJets.
Use the one input deliberately
The included 150-sheet ordinary input supports Letter, Legal and A4, while the output holds 100. Keeping different stock ready means changing that single input; there is no separate bypass drawer. The 60–163-g/m² input range is not a guarantee that every thickness has the same count or follows the duplex path.
Remove remaining paper, straighten the stack and use one size at a time. Load printable side up with its top forward, snug the guides, lower the cover and extend the output. Legal may require leaving the input cover raised, so allow extra operating room.
Up to ten suitable envelopes use that same input after ordinary paper is removed. Center them face up with the short postage end toward the back, and select their actual size/type in the driver. A full label sheet loads face up with its top toward the back. Neither routine should inherit automatic duplex merely because the printer has a duplexer.
Separate the print return path from the scanner glass
Automatic duplex is positively documented for ordinary Letter and A4. Exact Letter performance is up to 30 one-sided ppm and 19 duplex images per minute; A4 is separately up to 29 ppm and 18 duplex ipm. Those are manufacturer declarations, not measurements of a complex job. Legal duplex remains unconfirmed by this reading.
The scanner glass is only 216×297 mm, approximately 8.5×11.7 inches. Letter and A4 originals fit; full Legal originals do not. Generic support records containing ADF sizes or feeder-speed footnotes do not enlarge the glass or add a feeder to this dw.
Place the original print side down at the rear-left marking and close the lid. The configured HP app can scan from the printer to the computer, edit and save locally or share. Its phone-camera option is a separate source. The original also describes HP Scan on period Windows 7 systems; that historical procedure is not a current compatibility guarantee.
For a normal copy, choose count and darkness with the panel controls and press Copy. ID Card Copy requests a manual flip. Color scanning is supported, but output remains monochrome; automatic print duplex does not produce automatic two-sided scanning.
Give mobile printing its own conditions
AirPrint and Mopria work through the documented local network arrangement. The original separately confirms AirPrint over Wi-Fi Direct. Hold Information for three seconds to illuminate the controls, then press Resume and Wireless together to toggle Direct. The Information report provides its status/password; the original allows up to five direct clients.
Mobile paper size, input capacity, duplex controls and scanning-to-computer remain unconfirmed for that same mobile job. Direct authentication or an administrator PIN does not establish private document release. The app's sending-fax feature also does not add an analog fax modem.
Buy the correct regional supplies and leave the lid room
North American replacements are W1340A/134A around 1,100 declared pages and W1340X/134X around 2,400, with continuous-printing ISO/IEC 19752 conditions. The US box declares about 700 black pages. These differ from European 135A/X cartridge identities and are not remaining-toner or cost-per-page promises.
This non-e printer uses dynamic security that blocks modified or non-HP circuitry while permitting reuse through appropriate HP circuitry. Separate Cartridge Policy and permanent Cartridge Protection default off in the original. Disabling Protection does not undo existing pairing. The dwe's lifetime HP+ Original HP requirements are not imported into this dw review.
Recommended use is 200–2,000 monthly pages, distinct from the 20,000 maximum duty in the exact datasheet. The closed body is 14.49×11.76×9.52 inches and 16.76 lb, opening to about 16.52-inch depth and 17.18-inch height. If unattended original feeding or full Legal scanning matters, choose a model whose actual scanner route supports it.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Exact one-sided Letter speed is up to 30 ppm and two-sided Letter speed up to 19 ipm in the US-oriented exact datasheet. The exact A4 datasheet separately gives 29 ppm and 18 duplex ipm. Recommended 200–2,000 monthly pages is distinct from maximum 20,000 A4 duty. Scan/copy rates are not print speed, and no real-job performance is claimed.
Paper handling
One included 150-sheet ordinary input and separate 100-sheet output. Exact US supports Letter, Legal and A4 in that input; selected-size capacity assumes that ordinary stock. No separate capacity weight basis was established in the headline; the input range is 60–163 g/m². Remove remaining paper and straighten the stack, use one size at a time, load printable side up/top forward, snug guides, lower cover and extend output. Legal may require leaving the input cover raised; allow working clearance. Up to ten suitable envelopes use the same input, centered and face up with short postage end toward the back; remove plain stock first and select actual size/type. A full label sheet loads face up/top toward the back. Automatic duplex is confirmed for ordinary Letter and A4 by exact model speed sections; Legal duplex remains unconfirmed. Input media weight is not blanket duplex-media approval.
Scanning arrangement
Actual d/dw physical configuration has a scanner lid and glass, with no automatic document feeder; the separate sdn/sdw configuration is not borrowed. Exact model flatbed maximum is 216×297 mm or 8.5×11.7 inches, supporting Letter and A4, not Legal. Place the original print side down at the marked rear-left corner and close the lid. HP Smart/HP app can scan from the actual printer scanner to a computer and save locally or share; phone-camera scanning is a separate alternative. Color scan is supported separately from black-only printing. Panel Copy and ID Card Copy are manual glass routines; a two-sided ID requires flipping the card. No automatic duplex scan, single-pass feeder or analog fax. Stray ADF size/speed fields in generic support records do not add a feeder or Legal glass.
Computer and mobile connections
Included rear USB 2.0 device port, 10/100Base-TX Ethernet and dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi. Exact US 100Base-TX controls over an isolated Gigabit entry whose own datasheet network field also says 100Base-TX. USB/Ethernet cables are separately purchased. Ethernet automatically disables infrastructure Wi-Fi; disconnect it before switching. Actual WPS holds printer Wireless at least three seconds, then presses router WPS within two minutes. HP app/HP Smart setup may prompt account registration and has applicable internet conditions. Bluetooth/location assist setup; Bluetooth printing is excluded.
Supplies and declared yields
Actual original regional supply table limits North America to HP 134A/W1340A and 134X/W1340X, distinct from European 135A/X and other 136/137 regions. Exact US declares approximately 1,100/2,400 replacement pages and approximately 700 supplied black pages, with continuous-printing ISO/IEC 19752 conditions. Maker declarations are not installed remainder, guaranteed real-document yield, current price or cost per page.
Software and support
Use compatible current HP computer driver/app. Actual HP Smart USB/network setup and actual scanner-app workflow establish the configured desktop print/scan arrangement. Select the physical printer scanner, save locally or share; phone-camera scanning is a separate source. Original Windows 7 HP Scan steps are historical, not a current OS guarantee. Full app functionality has account/internet conditions. Dynamic security blocks modified or non-HP circuitry, with reuse enabled through appropriate HP circuitry. Separate Cartridge Policy and permanent Cartridge Protection default off; disabling Protection does not undo pairing. Do not borrow e-model lifetime Original HP conditions. Private job PIN remains unknown; Direct authentication and administrator passwords are different functions.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US configuration documents 110–127 VAC at 50/60 Hz, separate from 220–240-V editions. Match the actual plate and do not convert voltage. Closed US body is 14.49×11.76×9.52 inches and 16.76 lb, agreeing within source rounding with the d/dw original 368×298.62×241.9 mm and 7.6 kg. Opened working dimensions reach approximately 14.49×16.52×17.18 inches; allow additional cable, ventilation, scanner-lid and service access. The larger sdn/sdw feeder body is not borrowed. Inspect actual condition, included accessories and compatible current computer software.
