Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the base P2015 print Legal over USB with 300 included sheets for 2,000 monthly pages?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a compatible driver. Both documented tray ranges accommodate Legal, standard input totals 300 and the recommended monthly maximum is 3,000.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it automatically duplex Letter without reloading the stack?
Fails. The base model uses manual driver duplex and the Go button; the automatic unit belongs to d/dn/x configurations.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the original base package join a shared Wi-Fi network by itself?
Fails. A wireless Jetdirect print server is optional external hardware, not a standard radio.

The base HP LaserJet P2015 is worth assessing when one computer needs ordinary black-and-white document output and a direct USB connection is acceptable. The exact US CB366A#ABA is an earlier model that HP marks discontinued. It is the starting configuration of a family with several materially different suffixes: the base does not include the automatic duplexer of the d version or the internal network interface of the n and dn versions.
That makes the intended setup relatively clear. Use a compatible computer, an appropriate USB cable and a working driver. The family supports external Jetdirect accessories, but those are not built-in Ethernet or Wi-Fi. A listing mentioning network compatibility should therefore be checked for the actual accessory rather than treated as a standard feature of every P2015.
Paper handling is useful within its standard configuration
The included input is a 50-sheet multipurpose tray plus a 250-sheet enclosed tray. HP gives both trays a 3-by-5 to 8.5-by-14-inch media range, accommodating Letter, Legal and A4. The normal-paper total is 300 sheets using the documented 75 g/m² capacity basis. The optional third 250-sheet tray is excluded, so this base package does not receive the 550-sheet figure associated with an expanded configuration.
Tray 1 can also handle up to ten envelopes. The guide recommends the rear straight-through output path for envelopes and certain special media; paper exiting there does not stack in the normal bin and needs collecting. Set the correct driver media type and allow working space behind the printer. This is a different routine from filling the main tray with ordinary paper.
Two-sided output on the base P2015 uses manual driver support. The user prints one side, gathers and reloads the stack, then presses Go to continue. This can serve an occasional job when someone is present, but it does not meet an automatic-duplex requirement. A printed booklet option or two-sided software checkbox does not change the physical configuration.
Use the recommended workload rather than the peak figure
HP rates the engine up to 27 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 26 A4. These are manufacturer figures, not performance measured on a used unit. The recommended monthly range is 740 to 3,000 pages, while the maximum duty cycle is 15,000. The recommendation is the relevant sizing reference for a recurring workload; the duty figure should not be presented as the same operating target.
The printer is monochrome and print only. It has no document scanner, flatbed copier or fax hardware. Its six indicator lights and two buttons provide local status and basic controls, rather than a document-workflow screen. No exact AirPrint, Mopria or secure held-job PIN arrangement was established in the read material. Those requirements need positive support, not an assumption based on other LaserJet models.
Supplies, dimensions and an earlier unit's condition
The documented replacement cartridges are 53A Q7553A and 53X Q7553X, declared around 3,000 and 7,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. These declarations do not tell you how much toner remains in the machine being sold, and the included cartridge's yield is not assigned here without an exact package statement. A configuration and supplies-status page plus sample output are more useful checks on the actual unit.
The preliminary user guide contains an inconsistent width conversion 350 millimeters is followed by 16.8 inches. The later HP specification lists the same 350 millimeters as 13.8 inches, which is the consistent value retained here. The sheet gives a height of 256 millimeters, about 10.1 inches, and 22.7 pounds without toner. Its 14.3-inch depth is explicitly measured with Tray 1 open, so it is not silently reused as a closed-body limit. Reserve room for rear output and cartridge access as well.
For the reviewed US package, check the physical 110–127-volt rating and the 60-Hz setup described in the US sheet; a separate 220–240-volt edition exists. Verify a driver for the computer you actually use rather than relying on the historical CD's operating-system list. A working base P2015 can remain a focused USB document printer when its manual two-sided routine and lack of network or scanning hardware fit the job.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker maximum 27 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 26 A4. Neither is a measured result or automatic-duplex throughput. Use recommended 740–3,000 monthly pages for routine sizing rather than a duty-cycle maximum.
Paper handling
Included 50-sheet multipurpose Tray 1 plus 250-sheet Tray 2, rated at 75 g/m². HP gives a 3 × 5 to 8.5 × 14-inch range for each tray, covering Letter/Legal/A4; included normal-paper capacity 300 for each. Optional 250-sheet Tray 3 is excluded. Tray 1 accepts up to ten envelopes with the rear straight-through output open, correct driver type and suitable laser media.
Scanning arrangement
Monochrome print-only family hardware has no flatbed, document feeder, independent copier or fax. Print-driver booklet and copy-count options do not add original scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
Base P2015 standard Hi-Speed USB 2.0 only. External Jetdirect wired/wireless print servers are optional and excluded; no built-in Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Two-sided printing is manual stack reloading with supporting driver and Go button.
Supplies and declared yields
HP 53A Q7553A approximately 3,000 pages or 53X Q7553X approximately 7,000, declared under ISO/IEC 19752. These are replacement declarations, not remaining toner or cost per page. Included toner yield is not assigned without an exact package declaration.
Software and support
Original Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS X 10.2.8–10.4.3 lists are historical. Verify a currently compatible driver and real available controls. AirPrint, Mopria and secure held-print PIN release are not established; an embedded-Web-server password is not a job-release PIN.
Electrical edition and setup
Review the documented 110–127 V regional configuration; 220–240 V is separate, not universal. Original per-model electrical tables list 50/60 Hz, while later US sheet specifies 60 Hz for 110-volt stock; the US 60-Hz setup is retained. Confirm actual rating label. Width 350 mm is about 13.8 inches, not the erroneous 16.8-inch parenthetical in the preliminary guide. Sheet height 256 mm is about 10.1 inches. Its 362 mm/14.3-inch depth is explicitly with Tray 1 open, so closed body depth remains null; allow additional rear/service access.
