Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the standard P4014n share Legal printing and PIN-held jobs over Ethernet with 600 sheets at 10,000 monthly pages?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a compatible Personal Job driver. The included Ethernet and 100+500 paper feeds support Legal, recommended volume reaches 12,000, and the guide permits four-digit PIN release using arrow keys.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the n suffix guarantee automatic A4 duplex without an added part?
Fails. Automatic duplex is optional on the exact n configuration and is not credited as installed.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its standard network interface satisfy a Wi-Fi requirement?
Fails. Standard networking is wired Gigabit Ethernet; an optional wireless print server is not built-in Wi-Fi.

The HP LaserJet P4014n is an earlier monochrome workgroup printer with included USB and HP Jetdirect Gigabit Ethernet. The exact n configuration is CB507A in HP's original US selection guide; HP's current US cartridge compatibility list also identifies CB507A#ABA. This review concerns its documented 100–127-volt configuration. It is useful when a shared computer queue, substantial ordinary-paper capacity and one-sided documents are the main requirements.
Do not treat every surviving web address as evidence of the model. One inherited HP store link now displays an unrelated Deskjet. The original P4014n configuration paragraph, US selection guide and exact current support record independently establish this LaserJet. They also establish a significant limitation: automatic duplex is an option on the n, rather than included equipment.
Six hundred sheets without an extra feeder
Standard input consists of the 100-sheet multipurpose Tray 1 and 500-sheet Tray 2, rated with 75 g/m² paper. The guide's paper table positively lists Letter, Legal and A4 in both feeds. That makes 600 normal-paper sheets a supported included capacity for those sizes, rather than a maximum assembled from optional accessories.
A second cassette, high-capacity feeder and envelope feeder appear in the accessory material, but none is silently counted as standard. For occasional envelopes, Tray 1 accepts up to ten appropriate laser envelopes with the correct driver media settings. The ordinary-sheet capacity and envelope limit describe different loads in the same multipurpose feed. The manual's supported-size table does not turn this into an A3 or Tabloid printer.
The n configuration prints two-sided documents through a manual routine unless the optional duplexer has actually been fitted. A driver can expose duplex-related controls without proving that the accessory is present. Inspect the rear hardware and configuration page before relying on automatic turning. This standard-configuration assessment therefore does not qualify the P4014n for an automatic-duplex requirement.
Ethernet sharing and confidential jobs need compatible software
USB serves a directly connected computer; the included 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface serves a compatible wired network queue. The separate host USB ports are for supported accessories or solutions, not substitute computer-network connections. There is no included Wi-Fi radio or Wi-Fi Direct arrangement established here, and a modern mobile protocol is not inferred from the network socket.
The original guide documents Personal Job storage with a four-digit PIN. Its release instructions allow either a keypad or the up/down arrows to enter digits, so the P4014's lack of a numeric keypad does not by itself remove this workflow. Use a compatible computer driver with the actual Job Storage controls, then test sending and releasing a personal job at the printer. Temporary personal jobs and permanent stored jobs are different promises; this review does not claim an included hard disk or indefinite retention.
The device is print-only. It has no scanner glass, document feeder, independent copier or fax. An interface that offers multiple copies of a computer file does not capture a paper original.
Match the workload and verify the offered unit
HP rates the engine up to 45 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 43 A4. These are maker ratings, not measured results on an offered machine or a duplex throughput claim. The recommended monthly range is 3,000 to 12,000 pages. The separate 175,000-page maximum duty cycle should not replace that recurring-workload recommendation.
The US selection guide identifies the 64A CC364A replacement cartridge at approximately 10,000 pages. HP's current cartridge declaration uses ISO/IEC 19752. That is a replacement yield declaration, not the toner remaining in a used cartridge. A generic family list also mentions 64X, but this review does not borrow that larger cartridge from the P4015/P4515 column for the P4014n.
Request a configuration page, supplies information and sample output through the intended connection. Confirm current driver support, feed reliability and the actual voltage label. Published body and weight figures differ between the older guide and current family support material, so unresolved exact measurements are left unknown rather than used as a guaranteed shelf fit. Allow space for paper loading, rear access and service. The P4014n is a specific earlier wired option when its standard 600 sheets and manual duplex meet the work.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker maximum 45 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 43 A4. Recommended 3,000–12,000 monthly pages is distinct from 175,000 maximum monthly duty; no measured or automatic-duplex rate is claimed.
Paper handling
P4014n includes 100-sheet Tray 1 plus 500-sheet Tray 2 at 75 g/m², totaling 600 Letter/Legal/A4 sheets. Optional added cassettes, 1,500-sheet feeder, duplexer and 75-envelope feeder are not included. Tray 1 accepts ten suitable envelopes with correct driver settings.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only monochrome hardware has no original scanner, flatbed, document feeder, copier or fax. A print-driver copy-count setting does not add copying hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB 2.0 device port and Jetdirect 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Standard n has no automatic duplex; optional print servers do not establish built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct. Host USB accessory ports are separate from the computer device connection.
Supplies and declared yields
P4014 US selection-guide column establishes 64A CC364A approximately 10,000 pages; current HP declaration uses ISO/IEC 19752. Do not borrow 64X from P4015/P4515 columns. Remaining toner, included cartridge yield and cost per page are not assigned.
Software and support
Use a currently compatible computer driver, including its Job Storage/Personal Job controls for four-digit PIN release. The original guide permits keypad or arrow-key PIN entry; a numeric keypad is not a prerequisite. Temporary personal jobs are not a promise of an included disk or permanent job storage. AirPrint and Mopria are unestablished; an HP Print Service Plugin listing is not a Mopria claim.
Electrical edition and setup
Review is limited to the documented US 100–127 V, 50/60 Hz configuration. The separate 220–240 V edition is not universal-voltage hardware. Check the actual rating label, installed trays and accessories, current driver and available operating space. Cables are not assumed included.
