P4015nIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Shared Letter/Legal/A4 monochrome computer printing within 3,000–15,000 recommended monthly pages, with manual duplex acceptable.

The main tradeoff

Automatic duplex and extra input trays are optional. No scanner or standard wireless; exact closed depth remains unresolved.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the P4015n share Letter PIN-held printing over Ethernet at 15,000 monthly pages with 600 included sheets?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a compatible Personal Job driver. Exact n includes Ethernet and 600 sheets; the recommended monthly maximum is 15,000 and the guide supports four-digit PIN release.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does this standard n automatically duplex Legal documents?

Fails. The duplexer is optional on P4015n; the included automatic-duplex configurations are separate.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can the original n package hold 1,100 sheets without an added tray?

Fails. Its standard input is 100+500 sheets; the extra 500-sheet cassette belongs to a different included configuration or an added accessory.

A fast wired queue that still needs manual duplex

The HP LaserJet P4015n is an earlier monochrome workgroup printer with standard USB and Gigabit Ethernet. HP's original US selection guide identifies it as CB509A, and the current US cartridge compatibility record independently lists CB509A#ABA. This assessment covers its documented 100–127-volt configuration. It is a print-only device intended for a shared document queue, rather than a multifunction station.

The n configuration has the P4015 engine and networking but does not include the automatic duplexer. That distinction matters more than a family headline advertising optional two-sided output. If automatic duplex is essential, the separate dn or x configuration includes a materially different accessory arrangement. A used n may have been upgraded, but an added part has to be verified on that actual unit.

Standard paper capacity is 600 sheets

The P4015n includes 100-sheet Tray 1 and 500-sheet Tray 2 at the guide's 75 g/m² basis. The original media table checks Letter, Legal and A4 for both feeds. A 600-sheet requirement for those ordinary-paper sizes therefore fits the actual standard configuration.

The tn and x models add a second 500-sheet cassette. Those 1,100-sheet arrangements are not assigned to the n simply because all four appear together in a brochure. Other high-capacity feeders and a dedicated envelope feeder are also optional. Inspect which trays are physically present and recognized rather than relying on a seller's family description.

For occasional envelopes, Tray 1 accepts up to ten suitable laser envelopes with the correct media settings. This is separate from its 100-sheet ordinary-paper rating. Neither the supported envelope feed nor a manual two-sided routine establishes automatic duplex on the standard n. A3 and Tabloid are outside the documented Letter/Legal/A4 configuration used here.

Networking and personal PIN release are supported computer workflows

The included HP Jetdirect interface supports 10/100/1000 Ethernet for a wired network queue. The USB 2.0 device port supports direct computer printing. Host USB connections described for accessories or third-party solutions are separate and should not be mistaken for an additional computer connection or a mobile protocol.

Use a currently compatible driver and verify the controls it actually exposes. No built-in Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint or Mopria setup was established for this standard configuration. A generic network connection or an HP mobile plug-in listing does not establish those specific protocols.

There is positive documentation for confidential Personal Job printing. The guide directs the driver to store a personal job with a four-digit PIN, then asks for the PIN at the control panel before release. A compatible driver's Job Storage controls and the printer's release menu are both necessary. Test that complete route rather than substituting an administrator password for a job-release PIN. Temporary personal jobs do not promise an included permanent storage disk or retention after power loss.

Use recommended workload, not maximum duty, for routine sizing

HP rates one-sided speed up to 52 Letter pages per minute, separately 50 A4. These are manufacturer ratings, not measurements of a particular surviving machine. The recommended monthly range is 3,000 to 15,000 pages. The separate 225,000-page maximum duty cycle is not substituted for that recurring-workload recommendation.

The documented replacement choices are 64A CC364A at approximately 10,000 pages and 64X CC364X at approximately 24,000, with HP declaring the ISO/IEC 19752 basis. These numbers describe replacement yields, not remaining toner or a guaranteed cost per page. Check the installed cartridge and supplies information; a high-yield compatibility claim does not establish that a high-yield cartridge is supplied.

The original guide's base/n row gives a 16.75-inch width, 15.5-inch height and 51.9-pound weight. Its depth entry contains an inconsistent metric figure, so an exact closed-depth filter is left unresolved rather than silently correcting the source. Allow loading, rear and service access beyond the cabinet. Check the actual 100–127-volt rating label because the 220–240-volt edition is separate.

Before choosing an earlier P4015n, request configuration and supplies pages, inspect sample output and test a real network job through the intended driver. It can suit a substantial wired monochrome queue when 600 standard sheets and manual two-sided handling are enough; it does not supply scanning, copying or fax hardware.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Maker maximum 52 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 50 A4. Recommended 3,000–15,000 monthly pages; maximum monthly duty 225,000 is separate. No measured or automatic-duplex rate.

Paper handling

P4015n includes Tray 1 100 plus Tray 2 500 sheets at 75 g/m², Letter/Legal/A4 supported in both. Standard total 600; extra 500-sheet cassette and automatic duplexer are optional on n. Tray 1 accepts ten suitable envelopes separately from its normal-paper capacity.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only monochrome hardware has no original scanner, flatbed, document feeder, copier or fax. A print-driver copy-count setting does not add copying hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB 2.0 device port and HP Jetdirect 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Standard n uses manual two-sided handling; no included wireless. Host USB accessory connections do not establish computer/mobile network routes.

Supplies and declared yields

P4015 original US column lists 64A CC364A approximately 10,000 pages and 64X CC364X approximately 24,000, declared under ISO/IEC 19752. These are replacement declarations, not remaining toner or a supplied-cartridge promise.

Software and support

Use a currently compatible computer driver, including its Job Storage/Personal Job controls for four-digit PIN release. The original guide permits keypad or arrow-key PIN entry; a numeric keypad is not a prerequisite. Temporary personal jobs are not a promise of an included disk or permanent job storage. AirPrint and Mopria are unestablished; an HP Print Service Plugin listing is not a Mopria claim.

Electrical edition and setup

Review is limited to the documented US 100–127 V, 50/60 Hz configuration. The separate 220–240 V edition is not universal-voltage hardware. Check the actual rating label, installed trays and accessories, current driver and available operating space. Cables are not assumed included. Guide base/n row gives width 16.75 in, height 15.5 in, weight 51.9 lb. Its depth 4515 mm (17.8 in) is internally inconsistent; exact closed depth remains null. Allow operating clearance.
