HP LaserJet P4515n: a fast wired monochrome queue with 600 standard sheets review

A faster monochrome engine without every family accessory

The HP LaserJet P4515n is an earlier wired workgroup printer for substantial monochrome document output. HP's original US selection guide identifies CB514A, and the current US cartridge compatibility list independently names CB514A#ABA. This review covers its documented 100–127-volt configuration. The n includes USB, Gigabit Ethernet and the standard two paper feeds, rather than the larger accessory assemblies shown for other P4515 suffixes.

The practical attraction is the higher maker-rated one-sided speed and recommended volume. Neither makes it a multifunction printer or proves that automatic duplex is included. There is no scanner, paper-original copier, automatic document feeder or fax hardware. The standard n also lacks the added cassette, duplexer and mailbox found in other configurations.

Six hundred sheets, with manual two-sided handling

The original configuration paragraph lists a 100-sheet multipurpose Tray 1 and 500-sheet Tray 2. At the stated 75 g/m² capacity basis, the standard total is 600 ordinary-paper sheets. The guide's size table checks Letter, Legal and A4 for both feeds, so those requirements can use the included arrangement.

Additional 500-sheet cassettes, the 1,500-sheet high-capacity feeder and other paper accessories are optional for the n. A family maximum assembled from several options is not the capacity supplied with this model. Check the actual feeder inventory and configuration page on an older unit rather than relying on a family photograph.

Automatic duplex is also optional on the P4515n. A driver can present two-sided settings, but that is not proof of an installed turning mechanism. Standard n output requires manual two-sided handling when both sides are needed. A P4515x or xm includes a different arrangement, and those accessories should not be borrowed merely because the engine is related.

For occasional envelopes, Tray 1 accepts up to ten suitable laser envelopes with the correct media settings. That separate feed is not an automatic-duplex envelope claim. The included tray range used here supports Letter, Legal and A4, not A3 or Tabloid.

Wired sharing and Personal Job release need a compatible driver

The included HP Jetdirect interface supports 10/100/1000 Ethernet for a compatible shared computer queue. The USB 2.0 device connection serves a directly attached computer. Host USB ports for accessories or third-party solutions are separate from that device connection; their presence does not establish a mobile protocol.

No standard Wi-Fi radio or Wi-Fi Direct setup was established. AirPrint and Mopria remain unconfirmed rather than being inferred from Ethernet or an HP mobile plug-in listing. Verify the intended operating system and current driver, including the actual available paper and job controls. A historical software list does not guarantee current support.

HP does document confidential Personal Job printing: a compatible driver stores a job protected by a four-digit PIN, then the user releases it at the control panel. Test both halves of that route on the intended local or server queue. An administrator password protects settings and is a different function. Temporary personal jobs also do not imply that a permanent storage disk is included or that documents survive a power loss.

Separate workload ratings from the condition of a surviving unit

HP rates one-sided output up to 62 Letter pages per minute, separately 60 A4. These are maker claims, not our measurements and not duplex throughput. The recommended monthly range is 5,000 to 20,000 pages. The separate 275,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle is not substituted for a recurring workload recommendation.

The original P4515 supply column identifies 64A CC364A at approximately 10,000 pages and 64X CC364X at approximately 24,000 under HP's ISO/IEC 19752 declaration. These replacement figures do not establish remaining toner or the cartridge supplied with an offered machine. Request supplies information and sample output, and inspect feeding and print quality under the intended workload.

The original base/n physical row gives 16.75 inches wide, 15.5 high and 51.9 pounds. Its depth contains an inconsistent metric entry, so exact closed depth is left unresolved rather than silently repaired. Measure the actual cabinet and allow paper-loading, rear and service space. Check the rating label for the reviewed 100–127-volt version; a separate 220–240-volt edition is not universal-voltage hardware.

A complete P4515n can serve a defined wired monochrome workgroup when its standard 600 sheets, manual duplex and current compatible computer workflow are sufficient. Assess the actual machine and accessories as carefully as the engine's speed claim.
