LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdw (2Z619F#BGJ)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

An office with a proven software setup needing automatic two-sided original capture and ordinary monochrome document output.

The main tradeoff

Private job release needs a separately supplied dedicated USB storage device of at least 16 GB. The e-model HP+ lifetime toner commitment is not transferred to this non-e reference.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Ethernet support single-pass color capture of Legal originals with 350 included Legal input sheets?

Qualifies with earlier references enabled and compatible full HP desktop software. The feeder range and both included paper inputs support Legal. This does not promise Legal glass or a specific duplex-print paper size.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the included configuration provide PIN-held print release without adding storage?

Fails. The documented workflow first needs a dedicated rear USB storage device of at least 16 GB; that extra device is not counted as included.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is it a source-backed choice for 5,000 pages every month?

Fails the recommended-volume requirement. HP recommends up to 4,000 monthly pages; the much larger maximum duty cycle is a separate limit.

Single-pass capture in a monochrome office configuration

The HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdw fits an office that prints ordinary black documents and needs to capture both sides of originals without manually turning every page. Its exact US reference includes a 50-sheet single-pass duplex feeder, automatic print duplex, copying and fax. The deciding qualification is the actual software and storage setup: private job release needs an additional dedicated USB drive.

HP marks the US 2Z619F#BGJ reference discontinued. This is an assessment of that documented configuration, without a claim of current availability or a hands-on reliability test. The non-e identity matters because an HP+ e-model's continuing account, Internet and lifetime toner requirements cannot simply be transferred to it.

Choose the original route before starting a batch

The feeder supports originals up to 8.5 by 14 inches, covering Letter, Legal and A4. HP explicitly describes single-pass two-sided scanning for this exact model. That is useful for double-sided agreements: select the appropriate source and side settings, then inspect the saved file for order, orientation and missing pages.

Color capture is available even though printed output is monochrome. Those are different functions. A color record can therefore remain a color file on the computer while its paper copy prints in black.

The glass provides another capture route for originals unsuitable for the feeder. Its exact size range is unconfirmed in the evidence used here, so Legal feeder support is not presented as Legal glass. A particular glass dimension requires separate confirmation.

Make the computer receive a real file

The original guide describes HP Scan on Windows and HP Easy Scan on a compatible Mac. The Windows application can save an image or pass it to another application; the Mac sequence ends by saving the scanned pages. A successful print queue alone does not verify those capture controls.

USB, Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi serve the documented desktop arrangement with compatible full software. Install and check the intended scanner route as well as the printer. For a shared office, Ethernet can place the device on the network without depending on its wireless radio.

Panel email and network-folder destinations are separate administration tasks. Email needs the correct SMTP details; a shared folder needs a valid path, permissions and credentials. These are useful workflows when maintained, but plugging in a network cable does not complete their setup. Analog fax likewise requires the appropriate telephone connection and configuration.

Two paper inputs, with duplex conditions kept explicit

The included configuration combines a 100-sheet multipurpose input and a 250-sheet cassette at the stated ordinary-paper weight. Both support Letter, Legal and A4. The optional extra 550-sheet tray is not included in the 350-sheet total.

Allow space for the extended cassette when loading longer paper and for normal service access. Envelopes use their own one-sided multipurpose-tray loading and driver settings; a plain-paper capacity is not an envelope count.

The original desktop driver routine positively provides automatic two-sided printing. The exact supported duplex-paper subset is unestablished here, so that feature can satisfy a flexible paper requirement without promising a particular selected size. The Mac instructions also warn that controls can differ under AirPrint. Mobile printing does not inherit every desktop-driver function.

Private release is an added-storage workflow

The original job-storage section requires a dedicated USB 2.0 device of at least 16 GB in the rear host port. Setup formats that device, after which the driver must expose its Job Storage controls. A Personal Job can then use PIN protection and panel retrieval.

Removing the drive disables the storage feature. Consequently, the unexpanded configuration does not qualify here for included PIN release. A wireless connection PIN and an administrative password do not replace that documented print-job process.

Workload and supplies set the sensible boundary

HP declares up to 42 one-sided Letter pages per minute and recommends 750 to 4,000 monthly pages. Its 80,000-page maximum duty cycle is different from that recommended workload. Neither declaration is a timing or endurance measurement by this site.

Match US 148A or 148X replacement supplies and read the applicable chip-security wording. Check the actual electrical plate because the specification lists separate regional voltage editions. Choose this model for proven monochrome output and automatic original capture; compare another documented configuration when included private-release storage, confirmed glass dimensions or a higher recommended monthly workload is essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

HP declares up to 42 one-sided Letter ppm under its ISO method. Recommended 750–4,000 monthly pages is separate from the 80,000-page maximum duty cycle. Scan images per minute are not print pages per minute.

Paper handling

Included Tray 1 holds 100 and Tray 2 holds 250 ordinary sheets at 75 g/m². Letter, Legal and A4 are established for both inputs. An extra 550-sheet tray is optional. Legal loading extends Tray 2; allow operating space. Automatic desktop print duplex is confirmed, but its exact paper-size subset is unestablished here. Envelopes use their one-sided Tray 1 routine.

Scanning arrangement

Exact US feature text confirms single-pass two-sided scanning. The 50-sheet feeder range supports Letter, Legal and A4; its 8.5×14-inch maximum does not establish Legal glass. Flatbed capture is confirmed with size unestablished. Compatible HP Scan or Easy Scan saves files to the computer; network-folder and SMTP-email destinations require separate configuration and permissions.

Computer and mobile connections

Compatible USB desktop, Gigabit Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi routes are documented. A USB computer connection differs from the rear host used for storage. AirPrint/Mopria shared-network printing and true Wi-Fi Direct basic printing have separate plans; neither borrows desktop scanning or automatic-duplex conditions.

Supplies and declared yields

US 148A W1480A declares about 2,900 pages and 148X W1480X about 9,500; the box cartridge has no confirmed yield here. HP describes dynamic security for new or reused HP chips and allows refilled/remanufactured cartridges with reused HP chips. No live supply cost is calculated.

Software and support

The original private-print workflow requires a dedicated rear USB 2.0 storage device of at least 16 GB, formats it, and checks the driver Job Storage tab before sending a Personal Job with PIN. Removing the drive disables job storage. Base PIN release is therefore false. Check current driver, scanner and firmware compatibility.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US 2Z619F#BGJ is discontinued. The electrical table lists separate 110–127 V and 220–240 V editions, so the actual unit plate must establish US mains suitability; these are not a universal-voltage promise. Closed body is 16.54×15.35×12.72 inches and 27.78 lb, cartridge basis unestablished. Allow tray, lid and service access. Analog fax needs the suitable telephone setup.
