Neverstop Laser MFP 1202nw (5HG93A; documented US low-voltage configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A desk printing a recommended 250–2,500 black pages monthly and scanning individual Letter/A4 originals with an actual compatible computer setup.

The main tradeoff

Originals need manual glass handling and two-sided printing needs manual reload. App scanning requires its documented same-network setup; verify the actual paper-length guide before relying on Legal.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can an Ethernet computer print black A4 pages, scan A4 originals on glass and copy, with 150 ordinary sheets and a recommended 2,500-page monthly workload?

Qualifies with the compatible same-network computer-scanning application configured, or the documented compatible full HP scanning arrangement. This exact nw includes Ethernet and an A4-capable flatbed. The 150-sheet print input is separate from its lack of an original feeder.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can a stack of Letter originals be fed automatically for scanning over Wi-Fi?

Fails. The exact model has a flatbed only, without an original feeder. Its 150-sheet blank-paper input cannot feed originals into the scanner.

Explore this need in the finder →
Will a USB computer get automatic two-sided Letter printing?

Fails. The exact sheet specifies manual duplex with driver support, requiring the printed stack to be reloaded face down/top first. That does not satisfy automatic duplex.

Refillable black printing with a flatbed

The HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202nw combines monochrome printing and copying with a flatbed scanner and a toner-reloading system. It suits a desk that produces ordinary black documents and scans individual originals. It is a poor match for unattended original stacks or automatic two-sided printing: there is no original feeder or automatic print duplexer.

This review concerns 5HG93A in the documented US low-voltage configuration, 110–127 V at 50–60 Hz. Exact HP US support and the original model sheet establish that configuration. Other regional pages describe 220–240-V versions, so the shared product name is not a universal-voltage promise. The surviving reference is not a stock or condition claim.

The exact sheet declares up to 21 black Letter pages per minute. HP recommends 250–2,500 pages monthly, distinctly below the 20,000-page maximum duty figure. Neither the refill concept nor maximum duty establishes a measured cost advantage or a reason to use the machine beyond its recommended volume.

Choose computer scanning deliberately

The detailed exact-model table includes computer USB 2.0, Fast Ethernet 10/100 and 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi. Its first-page abbreviated connection headline omits Ethernet, but the technical table and model-specific support independently confirm it. A network installation connects the computer and printer to the actual router and completes the compatible software setup.

The guide documents HP Scan through HP Printer Assistant for Windows 7. The same Assistant manages its USB, Ethernet and wireless installations. That is a specific legacy software arrangement, not a recommendation to install an unsupported OS merely to operate this printer.

For Windows 10-and-later or Mac HP Smart scanning, the original guide explicitly requires the computer and printer on the same network. That provides a separate network flatbed-file route; it does not automatically certify USB or Wi-Fi Direct scanning in the app. Check the current supported application and its requirements before relying on the older instructions.

The flatbed maximum is 8.5 × 11.7 inches for Letter/A4 originals, with optical scanning up to 600 ppi and 24-bit capture distinct from 256-level grayscale. Place each original against the glass indicators. Multiple pages require attending to each original; the 150-sheet paper input is not a document feeder.

Paper length varies across the preserved references

The one included input holds up to 150 sheets, with a separate 100-sheet output. Letter and A4 use are supported. The original operating guide explicitly says only some configurations accept Legal/Oficio, and illustrates different paper-length guides for identifying them.

The preserved July 2020 exact sheet permits custom stock up to 14 inches long, while the assigned HP support identity lists an 11.69-inch maximum. Consequently, this assessment does not guarantee Legal printing across those configurations. Inspect the actual guide and exact unit documentation before depending on that length.

Remove the tray cover and existing stock, adjust the guide for the selected size, then load the print side up with its top edge toward the printer. This guide specifically allows flexing or fanning the stack edge to separate pages. Bring the guides against the stack and replace the cover when the supported paper length permits it.

Envelope input is one at a time. Remove ordinary paper, center the envelope face up with its short postage end toward the back, adjust the guides and choose Envelope in the driver's media settings. Do not treat its capacity as 150 envelopes.

Two sides still need manual handling

The Windows procedure selects Print on Both Sides Manually in Layout. After the first pass, put the printed stack back face down with its top edge entering first, confirm at the computer and respond at the panel if prompted. This cannot satisfy automatic duplex.

ID Copy puts both sides of a small card onto one side of a sheet. The operator scans the first face, flips the card on the glass when prompted and resumes. That useful routine is neither an automatic two-sided scanner nor automatic two-sided printing.

AirPrint, Mopria and genuine Wi-Fi Direct printing are documented. The mobile guide allows a shared network or a direct wireless arrangement with a compatible device. Those print routes do not inherit computer scanning, exact paper capacities or held-job PIN release. Historical cloud-service names are not availability promises.

Reload toner when the printer permits it

The supplied imaging drum contains approximately 5,000 introductory toner pages and has a separately stated approximately 20,000-page useful life. A 143A reload kit adds a declared approximately 2,500 pages; a 143AD pack contains two reloads. These ISO/IEC 19752 continuous-printing declarations vary with actual use and do not describe remaining toner.

Wait for the steady white Reload Status light. Shake the kit for at least ten seconds, uncover the port, insert and turn the kit clockwise 180 degrees, then fully depress its plunger. An exposed white plunger label indicates incomplete loading. Turn it back to disengage and cover the port afterward.

Allow space to lift the scanner for reloading and drum replacement. The body is approximately 14.98 × 11.55 × 11.3 inches, growing to 20.51 inches high when fully open; listed weight is 19.36 lb without a stated cartridge basis. A feeder-equipped automatic-duplex MFP is the sensible alternative when paper handling matters more than this refill routine.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact July 2020 sheet expressly rates monochrome Letter printing up to 21 ppm. Recommended monthly volume 250–2,500 is distinct from 20,000 maximum duty. Copy speed and first-page times are separate. No measured speed or current cost-per-page savings is invented.

Paper handling

One included 150-sheet input, with paper-weight capacity basis unstated in the exact sheet; 100-sheet output separate. Letter/A4 ordinary use is confirmed. The 14–27-lb supported-weight range is not a capacity-measurement basis. The exact July 2020 sheet permits custom length of 14 inches, while assigned US support 30334628 instead lists 11.69 inches and the original guide explicitly distinguishes Legal-capable paper guides. Legal is therefore not guaranteed or qualified across this configuration boundary. Load print side up/top forward, adjust actual size and guides, and replace the cover where length permits. This original guide explicitly permits flexing or fanning the stack edge. Envelope capacity is one, face up/short postage end toward the back, with ordinary stock removed and Envelope media selected. Windows manual duplex reload is printed side down/top first, then confirm; no automatic duplex.

Scanning arrangement

Flatbed only to 8.5 × 11.7 inches for Letter/A4, up to 600-ppi optical and 24-bit capture independently listed alongside 256-level grayscale. Color capture is interpreted from that explicit 24-bit scanner specification, not monochrome printing or third-party prose. No original feeder or automatic duplex scanning. The compatible Windows 7 HP Scan/Printer Assistant route is separate from HP Smart Windows 10-and-later/Mac scanning, which expressly requires the same network for computer and printer. ID Copy requires manually flipping the card and prints both images on one side; no automatic capture is inferred.

Computer and mobile connections

The detailed exact nw table confirms USB 2.0, Fast Ethernet 10/100 and 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi. The abbreviated first-page USB/Wi-Fi headline omission does not remove the explicit Ethernet field. Genuine Wi-Fi Direct printing and AirPrint/Mopria are positive. The original mobile routine permits same-network or compatible Direct printing, but does not establish Direct computer scanning. No fax modem is included in the exact print/copy/scan flatbed hardware scope; no retired cloud-service availability is promised.

Supplies and declared yields

The exact original sheet declares a supplied imaging drum with approximately 5,000 introductory black toner pages and separately approximately 20,000-page useful life. A 143A reload kit provides approximately 2,500 pages; a 143AD pack contains two 2,500-page reloads. ISO/IEC 19752 continuous-printing declarations vary with use and do not establish remaining toner or current cost per page. Reload kits are purchased separately. Reload only with power on and a steady white Reload Status light: shake the kit for at least 10 seconds, uncover the port, insert and turn clockwise 180 degrees, fully plunge until the white label disappears, turn counterclockwise 180 degrees to remove, then cover the port. An off light may indicate too much toner or approaching drum replacement. No lifetime HP+ promise is inferred.

Software and support

Original Windows 7 HP Printer Assistant manages USB/Ethernet/wireless arrangements and HP Scan file capture. HP Smart computer scanning on Windows 10-and-later or Mac explicitly requires the same network, kept separate from USB and peer mobile routes. Historical software lists are not blanket current OS, account or functionality guarantees; verify the actual supported application. Mobile plans do not borrow desktop scanning, exact-size capacity or PIN release. Secure held-print PIN is unconfirmed.

Electrical edition and setup

The exact 5HG93A original sheet plus HP US 1202nw identity and low-voltage technical body establish the documented US 110–127-V, 50–60-Hz configuration; no #BGJ suffix is invented. Regional 220–240-V units are separate and must not be voltage-converted. Current_reference denotes a surviving exact maker reference without a stock or current-sale claim; no exact discontinued notice is adopted. Body is 14.98 W × 11.55 D × 11.3 H inches, maximum 14.98 × 15.16 × 20.51; listed 19.36 lb has unstated cartridge basis and is separate from 24.69-lb package weight. Allow scanner lift for toner reload and drum replacement. Source USB-cable fields vary by region, so check the actual package.
