Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can compatible Ethernet print color Legal documents with 200 included plain-paper sheets?
Yes. The actual source table accepts Legal in included tray 1, which holds 200 ordinary sheets. The EN has a documented compatible Ethernet desktop-driver route.
Explore this need in the finder →Does adding its lower feeder produce 700 included Legal sheets?
No. The lower feeder is optional and supports Letter/A4 only. The ordinary included Legal source remains 200 sheets.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the ordinary EN automatically print both sides of Legal documents?
No. Duplex is optional, and even the installed option accepts only Letter/A4 plain paper in the actual operating guide.
Explore this need in the finder →Color output is the slower part of this compact printer
The Konica Minolta magicolor 1650EN is an earlier color laser printer for compatible USB and wired Ethernet computer printing. It is not a scanner, copier or fax. Its small body and included networking can be useful in an existing desktop arrangement, provided the actual driver and consumable configuration are verified.
The operating appendix explicitly separates 20 pages per minute for monochrome simplex from five for full-color simplex, both on A4 or Letter plain paper. A routine dominated by color documents therefore should not be planned around the monochrome headline. The declarations also do not measure the completion time of a particular short job.
Legal belongs in the included multipurpose source
The ordinary printer includes a 200-sheet multipurpose source. Its actual media table accepts Letter, Legal and A4 there, subject to paper type and weight. Select the matching size and material on the printer and in the driver, and keep the stack below the marked limit.
The optional lower feeder adds 500 sheets for Letter or A4 only. It does not turn the Legal reserve into 700 sheets. This distinction matters when a listing quotes maximum input capacity without naming the paper size that can use it.
The output allowance is approximately 100 ordinary Letter or A4 sheets, smaller than the input stack. Leave enough access to remove output during a longer run. Suitable envelopes and other special materials have their own smaller limits rather than the 200-sheet plain-paper allowance.
Automatic duplex has both hardware and media conditions
The EN does not include the optional duplex unit. The guide says it must be physically installed, selected and declared in the driver. Its installation also requires either the lower feeder or the specified attachment; a loose duplex accessory is not the whole installation.
Even after expansion, automatic duplex is limited to Letter or A4 plain paper at 60–90 gsm. Legal, envelopes, labels, postcards, thick stock and letterhead are not approved for that route in the actual operating chapter. A general Legal-printing claim therefore cannot be combined with an optional-duplex claim to promise two-sided Legal documents.
The EN driver route differs from W siblings
The original documentation provides compatible PCL and PostScript desktop drivers, with computer USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. These are exact EN capabilities; they should not be transferred to a differently controlled magicolor W model.
The Windows Configure tab can refresh installed options when bidirectional communication is available. Check and correct that list rather than enabling hardware that the printer does not possess. Native mobile printing and included wireless are not established merely by the Ethernet interface.
Follow the operating chapter for special stock
The actual envelope chapter approves C6 and DL envelopes and explicitly excludes other envelope sizes, even though the broader US sheet lists an additional format. This assessment follows the narrower operating instruction for the documented routine.
The guide also warns against running the printer exclusively on a special material. Keep size, construction, feed direction and media-type settings together. A large maximum stock weight does not remove the source or duplex restrictions.
Plan maintenance around the job pattern
Starter toner and replacement capacities differ, while the imaging cartridge has its own conditional life. Frequent single-page jobs can produce a substantially different imaging-cartridge expectation from continuous printing. The 35,000-page monthly figure is maximum duty rather than a recommended working interval.
Confirm the 120 V electrical version, actual supplies and service condition. Allow room for the fold-up source, output and opened service cover beyond the small closed-body footprint before depending on this earlier printer.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Actual guide explicitly specifies simplex A4/Letter rates of 20 ppm monochrome and 5 ppm color. Optional duplex has different monochrome rates depending on source. US maker sheet calls 35000 maximum monthly duty, not a recommended interval.
Paper handling
Included 200-sheet multipurpose source accepts Letter, Legal and A4. Optional 500-sheet lower source accepts only Letter/A4; Legal does not gain that capacity. Optional automatic duplex accepts only 60–90 gsm Letter/A4 plain paper, never Legal. Installation also needs tray 2 or the specified attachment. Output holds 100 ordinary Letter/A4 sheets.
Computer and mobile connections
Included computer USB 2.0 high speed and 10/100 Ethernet use compatible PCL/PostScript desktop drivers. This EN includes network language support that should not be borrowed into W siblings. Native mobile services and included Wi-Fi remain unestablished.
Supplies and declared yields
Actual guide and US sheet distinguish 500-page CMY/1000-page black starters from 1500/2500 replacement choices on a 5% A4/Letter basis. Imaging cartridge incorporates drum/waste handling, with substantially shorter intermittent-job than continuous-print life. No ISO declaration or tested cost is invented.
Software and support
Actual Windows Configure tab declares lower feeder and duplex hardware separately. Automatic recognition requires bidirectional communication; a visible option setting does not establish installed hardware. No positively documented included confidential PIN-release route is assigned.
Electrical edition and setup
The actual US manufacturer sheet independently establishes the US version and 120 V power; guide maps printer type AM to A034012 separately from EU/AP/GC. Sheet body is 15.6 × 15 × 10.9 inches with loaded 33 lb separated from shipping mass. The fold-up source, output and top service cover need working space beyond the closed body.
