magicolor 4695MF (120 V AM edition)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible Ethernet SMB document routine needing Legal originals, color capture and automatic two-sided PDF scanning.

The main tradeoff

Legal input is 100 included sheets, confidential print storage needs an optional disk, and USB LinkMagic scanning has its own settings.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can its Ethernet SMB routine capture Legal color originals from the glass or automatically scan both feeder sides as PDF?

Yes. The original guide approves Legal on both physical routes and documents a registered SMB destination with color and two-sided PDF settings. The feeder mechanism is not established as single-pass.

Does the combined 350-sheet input provide 350 included Legal sheets?

No. The main 250-sheet cassette ends at 297 mm. Legal uses the included 100-sheet manual-feed source; the lower feeder is optional.

Can the ordinary included printer hold password-protected jobs without adding its hard disk?

No. The actual Proof/Print and password-release procedure requires the optional hard disk, which is not assumed in the included configuration.

Legal originals can use both glass and feeder

The Konica Minolta magicolor 4695MF is an earlier color laser multifunction machine with printing, copying, document capture and telephone fax hardware. Its actual original-media chapter names Legal as the maximum document size for both the stationary glass and the included automatic feeder.

The feeder holds up to 50 ordinary originals under the stated conditions and accepts its own 50–128 gsm range. It excludes mixed original sizes and unsuitable materials such as bound, damaged or stapled documents. The glass offers a different route for appropriate items that should not pass through the feeder.

Automatic two-sided capture has a PDF restriction

The actual scan chapter positively describes scanning both original sides through the ADF. It does not establish the mechanical distinction between reversing and single-pass capture in the sections read here, so this assessment confirms automatic duplex scanning without promising one-pass operation.

There is also a practical format condition: the panel's two-sided scan setting is available only when PDF is selected. A request for a two-sided JPEG or TIFF routine cannot simply borrow that PDF procedure. Color or grayscale panel capture also changes to 300 dpi even when 600 dpi was selected.

SMB delivery and USB Scan to PC are different workflows

The network routine sends a scan to a registered SMB computer destination. Select the registered address, original size, color and side settings together, and make sure the receiving share is configured correctly. This provides a documented computer destination through the included Ethernet interface.

By contrast, the panel's Scan to PC function requires a USB cable and Windows LinkMagic, along with the relevant drivers. The guide says LinkMagic's settings take priority over the machine settings. Its USB-memory saving procedure is another destination again, using the separate host port.

A successful USB print job therefore does not establish the same computer-scanning arrangement. Check the intended receiving software and connection before choosing a routine. The original Windows TWAIN application-width limitation also matters when maintaining an older installation.

Legal printing has only 100 included sheets

The ordinary printing input combines a 100-sheet manual-feed source and a 250-sheet main cassette. Letter and A4 use that 350-sheet total, but the main cassette ends at 297 mm in length. Legal uses the manual-feed source, leaving 100 included sheets for that size.

A 500-sheet lower feeder is optional. Automatic print duplex is documented separately from feeder duplex scanning and has its own ordinary-paper conditions. The scanner's Legal acceptance should not be used as approval for every two-sided output size or material.

Confidential print storage requires the optional disk

The actual Proof/Print menu handles jobs saved on the optional hard disk. It describes entering the job password before printing or deleting protected data. The ordinary package is not credited with this release workflow merely because the family menu contains it.

Computer USB, Gigabit Ethernet and the host USB socket also serve different functions. Native mobile printing or included wireless is not established from that network interface. Telephone fax uses the separate LINE connection and its applicable fax setup instructions.

Allow space and maintenance attention

The original guide identifies regional model and electrical versions, including the 120 V edition assessed here. Its accessory-installation warning gives approximately 121 pounds with consumables and requires two-person handling. The body also needs extra room for doors, sources and scanner access.

Toner starter and replacement declarations differ, while imaging, waste-toner and fuser parts have separate limits. The A4 printing rate and consumable-life figures are not a strict Letter speed or a recommended monthly workload. Verify software compatibility and service condition before relying on a particular earlier machine.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Actual technical table explicitly gives 24 ppm A4 simplex printing in color/monochrome, not a Letter rate. Copying and feeder color-copy rates are separate. Strict Letter fields and recommended/maximum monthly volume remain unestablished rather than borrowed from regional brochures.

Paper handling

Included 100-sheet manual feed source and 250-sheet main cassette total 350 ordinary sheets for Letter/A4. Actual main-cassette length ends at 297 mm, so Legal uses only the included 100-sheet manual feed source. Optional tray 3 adds 500 but is not included. Automatic print duplex is positively documented on 60–90 gsm plain paper; named-size duplex table cells are not established in this selected indexed reading, so confirmed mechanism is retained only for paper=any.

Scanning arrangement

The original explicitly approves Legal glass and the included 50-sheet Legal feeder, with 50–128 gsm feeder stock and no mixed original sizes. Automatic two-sided acquisition is documented, but reversing versus single-pass mechanics is unestablished. Panel duplex capture requires PDF; color/grayscale falls to 300 dpi even when 600 dpi was selected.

Computer and mobile connections

Actual rear diagram confirms computer USB, Gigabit Ethernet and separate USB host, plus telephone LINE/TEL. Network scanning sends to a registered SMB computer destination. Scan to PC through Windows LinkMagic is USB-cable only and its settings override panel choices; it is kept separate from the Ethernet SMB workflow and from USB-memory saving.

Supplies and declared yields

Actual appendix distinguishes 3000-page in-box toner in controlled continuous use from 4000/8000 replacement choices, with reduced figures outside the specified environment. Basis is 5% A4/Letter simplex, not an asserted ISO toner yield. Imaging, waste-toner, transfer and fuser parts have separate lives.

Software and support

Actual PS/PCL Proof/Print menu and password release require an optional hard disk. No HDD is assumed in the ordinary package. Windows TWAIN supports 32-bit applications on 64-bit OS but not 64-bit applications. Native mobile services and wireless are unestablished rather than borrowed from later models.

Electrical edition and setup

The exact guide maps AM to A0FD012, distinguishes USA/Canada defaults and specifies a separate 120 V edition. Body: 21.2 × 23.2 × 22.8 inches. The loaded machine weighs 55 kg/121 lb and needs two movers; allow scanner, right-door and paper access.
