Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible Ethernet 5430 DL print Letter color documents at its declared 21 ppm simplex rate with 250 included sheets?
Yes. The actual guide identifies 21 ppm Letter simplex at 600 dpi, 250 sheets in included tray 1 and an Ethernet computer route. This is a maker declaration, not measured performance.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the ordinary included tray print Legal documents without adding a lower feeder?
No. The actual named-size table assigns Legal to optional trays 2/3, while included tray 1 ends at 297 mm and supports Letter/A4.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a duplex setting in its family driver establish included automatic duplex?
No. The original procedure requires the optional duplex unit to be physically installed and declared in the driver.
Explore this need in the finder →The ordinary 5430 DL has a specific paper limit
The Konica Minolta magicolor 5430 DL is an earlier color laser printer with USB and wired Ethernet. It does not scan, copy or fax. Its most consequential paper-handling detail is easy to miss when looking only at a broad list of supported sizes.
The original operating guide assigns Legal paper to optional lower trays 2 and 3. The included multipurpose cassette, tray 1, accepts Letter and A4 but ends at 297 mm in length. A general claim that the model family supports Legal therefore does not establish Legal printing in the ordinary included configuration.
Included capacity is 250 sheets
Tray 1 holds up to 250 sheets of 80 gsm ordinary paper. That is the included reserve for supported Letter or A4 documents. Each optional lower feeder adds a separate 500-sheet source, with its own approved sizes and loading procedure.
The manual tells users to load ordinary paper face up, align the guides and remain below the marked maximum. When adding paper, remove and combine the remaining stack with the new sheets before reloading. Mixing types or sizes in the same source creates avoidable feeding problems.
Special media have smaller allowances and different restrictions. The source table permits suitable envelopes in tray 1, but those are one-sided address-face jobs rather than ordinary-paper duplex tasks. A 250-sheet paper capacity is not an envelope capacity.
Automatic duplex needs the accessory
The actual duplex chapter requires the duplex unit to be physically installed. Without it, sending a duplex job produces a missing-option message. The installation and driver chapters also require the hardware to be declared correctly in the computer configuration.
This assessment therefore does not credit the ordinary printer with automatic two-sided output. A screenshot showing a duplex control, or an illustration of the fully expanded printer, cannot establish that an existing machine has the necessary mechanism.
Even with the option, duplex is limited to approved ordinary paper and named sizes. Envelopes, heavy stock, labels, postcards and transparencies are excluded. Verify the exact paper route and option before arranging a repeated two-sided routine.
A compatible wired desktop setup is essential
The original rear diagram and specification identify computer USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. Use the documented desktop printing software and check compatibility with the actual computer. The presence of Ethernet does not add a scanner or prove native mobile printing.
The Windows configuration can recognize installed options automatically, but the guide also explains how to correct that list manually. Remove options that are shown in the driver but absent from the machine. Otherwise the software can request a source or duplex path that cannot perform the job.
Read the Letter rate as a specific declaration
The technical appendix explicitly gives 21 pages per minute for Letter simplex at 600 dpi, in monochrome and color. A4 simplex is 20, while the optional duplex rates are lower and separately listed. These figures describe different modes and should not be interchanged.
Consumable expectations likewise depend on page coverage, job length and environmental conditions. The original table separates continuous printing from short jobs and starter toner from replacements. It does not establish a recommended monthly workload.
Inspect the actual installed version
The guide distinguishes US safety and electrical specifications from other versions. Confirm the rating label, driver, installed feeders and duplex hardware before relying on an existing unit. Allow service and paper access beyond the stated body dimensions, and check maintenance condition independently of a headline speed or long consumable-life figure.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Actual guide explicitly separates 21 ppm Letter simplex from 20 ppm A4 simplex at 600 dpi, both monochrome/color. Its optional duplex rates are different and are not substituted. No recommended monthly range or maximum monthly duty is assigned from consumable lives.
Paper handling
Included tray 1 holds 250 sheets of 80 gsm ordinary paper and accepts Letter/A4. The actual named-size table restricts Legal to optional trays 2/3; included tray length ends at 297 mm. Each lower feeder adds 500 sheets. The duplex unit is separately optional and must be physically installed and declared in the driver.
Computer and mobile connections
Actual rear diagram and specification document computer USB 2.0 high speed and 10/100 Ethernet. Compatible original desktop printing software is required. No native AirPrint, Mopria or included wireless is established by the network interface.
Supplies and declared yields
Actual guide declares toner life under 5% A4/Letter simplex conditions and distinguishes continuous from two-page jobs and controlled from variable environments. Starter and replacement figures differ. Waste-toner, transfer and fuser service lives are separate from monthly workload guidance.
Software and support
Actual Windows driver installation declares lower sources and duplex separately, with automatic configuration or manual correction. A driver illustration showing those options is not proof of their installation. The administrator password for PageScope Web Connection is not confidential job PIN release.
Electrical edition and setup
Actual guide has an explicit U.S. safety-model column and 110–127 V 50–60 Hz specifications, separate from the high-voltage version; this assessment covers the 120 V version. Body is 16.5 × 20.5 × 17.3 inches including stated protruding parts. The 30 kg printer figure has no clear installed-consumable basis, so loaded mass is unassigned. Allow access to the right cover and extended sources.
