The Konica Minolta pagepro 4650EN is an earlier monochrome laser printer for wired desktop and workgroup output. Its 150-sheet multipurpose cassette and 550-sheet ordinary cassette provide 700 included sheets. There is no scanner, copier or telephone fax to turn that printing resource into an all-in-one workflow.
The actual operating table approves Letter, Legal and A4 in both included sources. That makes its Legal handling materially different from printers whose large included cassette is restricted to Letter and A4. Use the exact source table rather than assuming that all printers with a similar-looking lower cassette behave alike.
Legal loading changes the space requirement
The guide provides a specific procedure for paper larger than A4. Unlock and extend the cassette, position both guides for the paper, load below the mark and set the corresponding size and type. The stated closed body depth is therefore not the complete working depth for Legal printing.
Paper capacity depends on the stated material conditions. Envelopes and other special stock use different stack limits and settings. The ordinary-paper total is not permission to load 700 envelopes, nor does a supported envelope size establish suitability for every adhesive, flap or window construction.
Automatic duplex needs more than a driver setting
The original US brochure lists the duplex unit as optional. The actual guide requires it to be physically installed and selected, and also specifies at least 256 MB of printer memory for duplex operation. The ordinary US specification includes 128 MB.
An existing printer therefore needs both its installed mechanism and memory checked before promising automatic two-sided jobs. A family driver or a duplex rate in the appendix does not establish that the ordinary package can perform that operation. Approved sizes and materials still govern any expanded duplex setup.
Separate wired computer output from direct files
Computer USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet and parallel are included interfaces. Compatible PCL and PostScript desktop drivers provide the documented computer-printing route. Check the actual driver and operating system before relying on this earlier hardware.
The USB host port is a different facility. The brochure's detailed notes make direct XPS conditional on the optional hard disk, and direct PDF, JPEG and TIFF conditional on the disk or CompactFlash. A photograph of the socket should not erase those storage requirements.
PIN-secured jobs are an optional storage function
The US manufacturer brochure specifically assigns four-digit PIN verification to the optional 40 GB hard disk. This assessment therefore does not give the ordinary included configuration confidential job release merely because secure print appears in its list of possible features.
Additional paper sources and a stacker or sorter are also options. Confirm exactly what is installed rather than counting the advertised maximum 1,800-sheet input as the standard package. Some software controls depend on that installed configuration being declared correctly.
Use the precise speed and maintenance declarations
The actual guide gives 35.7 pages per minute for Letter simplex and 34 for A4 simplex. The faster 5650EN has a different column, and optional duplex has separate rates. None is a measurement of how quickly a particular short document will finish.
The 150,000-page figure is maximum monthly duty, with no established recommended interval here. Toner and drum are combined in the cartridge, but other maintenance parts still exist. Starter toner and the two replacement capacities also have different declared yields, so identify the installed supply separately. Check supplies, service condition, the electrical label and adequate working clearance before depending on a particular unit.
