Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the standard wired model combine Letter duplex output, Legal two-sided color scanning and a 600-sheet paper supply?
The documented Ethernet arrangement supports those routines, with a 100-sheet duplex feeder and independent Legal glass limit. Its one-sided Letter rate is 57 ppm; single-pass mechanism is not separately established here.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a standard unit provide included Wi-Fi without checking optional boards?
No. IB36/IB51 wireless hardware is optional. Verify the installed package rather than borrowing the optional feature.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a compatible USB desktop job use four-digit release?
The guide documents four-digit Private Print in the supported driver and Job Box setup, with the RAM disk appropriately enabled; other storage features have separate requirements.

The Kyocera ECOSYS M3655idn is an office monochrome multifunction printer with color scanning, copying and fax hardware. The combination is most relevant to a team that produces black-and-white pages but regularly turns paper originals into digital documents. Its 100-sheet feeder is a more meaningful starting point for that routine than the color of the control screen.
Check the physical originals and computer connection first. A color-output requirement rules this printer out. A requirement for included wireless also needs a different standard package or an exact check of fitted optional equipment. The documented base setup is USB and Ethernet.
The feeder and glass both reach Legal
The original American specification gives Legal limits for the document processor and the scanner glass independently. This lets an office distinguish a suitable loose stack from an original that belongs on the glass. It is not an inference from the printer's ability to output Legal paper.
The standard Dual Scan Document Processor holds up to 100 sheets under the guide's stated stock and loading conditions, and automatic two-sided scanning is documented. The passages read here do not separately establish the physical single-pass mechanism. If that exact method is essential, check the applicable feeder instructions before purchase rather than translating the DSDP name into an unsupported guarantee.
One-sided output, duplex output and scanner rates differ
The M3655idn's American sheet declares 57 pages per minute on Letter, 46 on Legal and 55 on A4 for its one-sided output conditions. It gives separate automatic-duplex rates of 40 pages per minute on Letter and 23 on Legal. Use the figure corresponding to the documents you actually print.
Scanner images per minute vary with color, resolution and one-sided or two-sided operation. The operation guide and sheet also describe different scanner test conditions, so their numbers should not be combined into one supposed measured speed. We have not timed the machine or tested the finished quality of its prints and scans.
The paper supply and job storage have different expansion rules
The standard input package combines a 500-sheet cassette with a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. The 2,600-sheet maximum needs additional feeders. Inspect what is included in the actual package, and allow extra height if those drawers are installed. Envelope work uses its instructed media path rather than the ordinary duplex-paper routine.
For private desktop jobs, the operation guide describes a four-digit access code and release at the panel. The RAM-disk Job Box must be set up appropriately. Stored Job, Quick Copy and business applications have different optional-storage dependencies. A PIN feature in a compatible desktop driver should not be assumed to apply to every mobile-print submission.
Check mobile requirements against the exact arrangement
Computer printing and scanning are documented for USB and Ethernet, with compatible drivers or configured network destinations as appropriate. An SMB scan destination still needs correct network access; fax hardware still needs the correct telephone arrangement. None of these functions is created simply by plugging into an arbitrary port.
Wireless IB-36 and IB-51 interfaces are optional. The American sheet also puts an IB-36 requirement on AirPrint, whereas the later operation guide describes AirPrint without resolving that hardware condition. If Apple printing determines the purchase, verify the exact installed arrangement. The documented wired Mopria route is treated separately, and retired cloud-print services are not promised from their appearance in an old brochure.
Plan for the whole installed machine
The manual lists a body about 18.9×19.49×23.24 inches before working clearance. Its without-toner weight entry has a different basis from the American sheet's 53.1lb figure; check the actual lifting and installation requirements. Leave space for open paper paths, feeder access, cables and service.
The reviewed American electrical version is 120V/60Hz, with other-voltage versions separately listed. The 250,000-page maximum duty is not a recommended monthly workload. Use the M3655idn's documented scanning and wired document functions to judge fit, then verify the electrical label, present driver support, installed storage and supplies of the particular machine.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Declared one-sided Letter 57 ppm, Legal 46 ppm, A4 55 ppm; duplex Letter 40 ppm and Legal 23 ppm in the American sheet. Scanner ipm use separate resolution/color conditions and are not printer speeds.
Paper handling
Standard 500-sheet cassette plus 100-sheet multipurpose tray at stated ordinary-paper condition. 600 included sheets; 2,600 requires optional PF3110 feeders. Legal print and scan limits are independently documented.
Scanning arrangement
100-sheet standard DSDP with documented automatic duplex scanning and Legal limits for both DP and glass. Physical single-pass mechanism has not been separately established in the read passages; ordinary duplex is supported without a single-pass claim.
Computer and mobile connections
USB computer and Ethernet standard; wireless IB36/IB51 optional. American sheet specifically conditions AirPrint on IB36 while the later guide describes AirPrint generically; included wired AirPrint remains unestablished in this assessment. Ethernet Mopria is separately documented.
Supplies and declared yields
Separate toner and long-life imaging components; present prices and remaining component life are not established by the historical design claims.
Software and support
Compatible desktop-driver four-digit Private Print can use the enabled RAM-disk Job Box. Stored Job/Quick Copy and business applications have separate optional-storage requirements. Historical cloud printing is not promised to operate now.
Electrical edition and setup
Reviewed 120 V/60 Hz/10 A edition, distinct from 220–240 V. Manual body 18.9 × 19.49 × 23.24 in; American sheet 53.1 lb, with the guide separately labeling a without-toner weight. Allow additional working space; 250,000 duty is not a recommended monthly workload.
