A useful fit for

A 250–2,500-page monthly group needing ordinary-paper duplex and supported shared-network or documented peer computer printing.

The main tradeoff

Input is fixed at 250 plus one manual sheet, starter toner is 700 declared pages and generic cloud-scan text does not add a scanner.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Wi-Fi computer printing combine Legal duplex, PIN release, 250 ordinary sheets and 2,000 monthly pages?

Yes with earlier references enabled and compatible protected-job software. Use the instructed Letter duplex-unit selector for Legal stock.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can the documented Wi-Fi Direct computer setup print ordinary Letter pages automatically on both sides?

Yes with earlier references enabled and suitable computer software. The unique B2236 guide documents the peer computer connection; the original Letter duplex path applies.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does its 251-sheet headline provide 251 ordinary Legal sheets in a normal stack?

No. The ordinary drawer capacity is 250; the additional single-sheet manual feed is not another stack.

A small wireless printer with a manual-feed limit

The Lexmark B2236dw combines monochrome automatic duplex, built-in wireless and a 250-sheet drawer in an earlier compact printer. Exact US part 18M0100 also includes USB Type-B, 10/100BaseTX Ethernet and a single-sheet manual feeder. It can fit a 250–2,500-page recommended monthly routine, provided the fixed paper arrangement and small starter cartridge suit the work.

Lexmark marks the model discontinued. Check the offered unit, regional consumables, firmware and usable software. The official hardware classification is print-only black and white. Generic marketing about saving scans to cloud services, or an AirScan name in a software list, does not establish a paper scanner, copier or fax inside this printer.

The 251-sheet headline is not a second paper stack

Standard and maximum input are both 251 sheets on the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis: 250 in the drawer plus one manually fed sheet. For a normal Letter, Legal or A4 stack, count the drawer's 250 sheets. The manual path is useful for an individual special sheet, but is not another filled tray or a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder.

The original table supports Letter, Legal and A4 in the drawer, manual path and automatic duplex. A specific setup detail matters: set the duplex unit's paper-size selector to A4 for A4, or to Letter for Letter, Legal, Oficio and Folio as the guide instructs. Matching only the application's paper-size menu is not the whole loading routine.

Suitable envelopes use the manual feeder on one side. They are not ordinary drawer or automatic-duplex stock, and the guide warns that envelopes, labels and card stock run at reduced speed. If repeated specialty feeding or larger input is central to the queue, compare a configuration with a documented larger feeder rather than assuming an expansion drawer exists here.

Shared networking and a separately documented peer connection

Standard Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB Type-B provide useful connection choices. Wireless setup requires disconnecting Ethernet and selecting the proper active adapter. Treat those network modes as alternatives rather than promising simultaneous operation. USB Type-B is the computer connection, distinct from direct flash-drive printing.

The unique B2236 guide positively documents Wi-Fi Direct configuration and computer connection without an access point. That supports an ordinary peer computer-printing arrangement with appropriate software. It should not silently inherit every protected-job or mobile protocol from a different shared-network setup.

AirPrint is named on the exact US page, and the original guide documents both AirPrint and Mopria Print on suitable shared networking. Confirm compatible devices, firmware and discovery. Ordinary wireless networking and Wi-Fi Direct remain different routines even when the same printer supports each.

Protected jobs need compatible submission controls

The 2026 original guide provides actual Windows Print and Hold instructions and Mac AirPrint PIN Printing or a compatible confidential-job driver route. A four-digit PIN controls release at the panel. Check the full application and firmware workflow, along with job-expiration settings; a normal mobile print button does not necessarily submit a protected job.

The two-line LCD is non-touch. It provides the documented local controls without adding a touchscreen or scanning hardware. A PIN used to join a wireless connection is also different from the confidential-job PIN used to release printed output.

Workload, supplies and installation space

Maximum one-sided Letter output is declared at 36 pages per minute, with duplex separately 18 Letter sides per minute. These are manufacturer modes, not article measurements. Maximum duty is separately 30,000 pages and does not extend the 2,500-page recommended monthly ceiling.

The original US starter declares 700 pages. Listed B22 replacements include 1,200-, 3,000- and 6,000-page options under ISO/IEC 19752, with a separate 12,000-page imaging unit and its own conditions. Match region and Return Program terms. The body is 14.0 inches wide, 13.1 deep and 8.5 high at 15.0 pounds; allow working access and inspect the electrical label before installation.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Manufacturer maximum 36 one-sided Letter pages/minute; automatic duplex separately 18 Letter sides/minute. Original guide says labels, envelopes and card stock run at reduced speed; no article measurement is claimed.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet drawer plus single-sheet manual feed, total 251 at 20 lb/75 gsm and maximum 251. Ordinary Letter/Legal/A4 drawer capacity is 250; manual one-sheet feed is not another stack. All three support automatic duplex. Set the duplex-unit size selector to A4 for A4, or Letter for Letter/Legal/Oficio/Folio as instructed. Suitable envelopes use a separate manual one-sided routine; no optional 550 drawer is included or established.

Scanning arrangement

Official print-only monochrome laser hardware, without document scanning, copying, fax or ADF. Mobile-device capture and generic AirScan/scan software do not add those functions.

Computer and mobile connections

Included 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100BaseTX Ethernet and USB Type-B computer port. Use one active network arrangement; Wi-Fi setup disconnects Ethernet. Unique B2236 guide positively documents Wi-Fi Direct computer connection and ordinary printing. Shared-network AirPrint/Mopria are separate documented routines; no assumption that every protected/mobile protocol crosses the peer route.

Supplies and declared yields

US supplied Return Program toner 700 pages. Exact B221000 replacement 1,200; B221H00 3,000; B221X00/B220XA0 6,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Separate B220Z00 imaging unit 12,000 uses its own three-page Letter/A4 job and approximately 5% coverage basis. Match regional restriction and Return Program terms; no B34/55B supplies borrowed.

Software and support

Two-line non-touch LCD. Original 2026 B2236 guide documents Windows Print and Hold PIN release and Mac AirPrint PIN Printing or a compatible confidential driver with four-digit PIN. Confirm current software, firmware and actual job controls. Ordinary PIN on USB/shared networking does not imply every peer/mobile command exposes it.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US part and body dimensions established; nominal mains input remains unestablished in read sources. Inspect actual rating label and correct cord. Allow loading, output and service clearance beyond the closed body.
