Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it print color Legal documents on both sides over Wi-Fi at 5,000 monthly pages, with 250 included sheets?
Yes, with earlier references enabled. Included Wi-Fi, the 250-sheet Legal stack, automatic Legal print duplex and 6,500-page recommended maximum fit this arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I scan documents to the computer over its USB cable?
No. C2425 is explicitly print-only hardware; the USB Type-B port is a computer printing interface, not a scanner.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the base package hold 500 Letter sheets while printing color over Ethernet?
No. Its included main stack holds 250 sheets; optional capacity cannot meet a requirement for included input.

The Lexmark C2425dw suits a small workgroup that wants shared color printing, automatic two-sided documents and included Wi-Fi. Its useful tradeoff is paper capacity: the base printer has one 250-sheet main tray and a one-sheet manual feed. The much larger advertised maximum requires an additional drawer assembly, so it should not decide a comparison between ordinary base packages.
Lexmark identifies US part 42CC130 as discontinued. This is an earlier configuration reference, without a promise about today's stock or a particular machine's condition. Check the exact part, regional supplies, installed options and current computer software before choosing an offer. The similar CS421dn has different standard wireless hardware and cartridges; its specifications are not a substitute for this model's.
Print speed and two-sided work
The declared one-sided Letter speed is up to 25 pages per minute in black or color. The automatic duplex figure is separately 12.5 Letter sides per minute. Neither figure is a hands-on result from this article, and neither tells you how long a mixed folder of short jobs will take. File processing, paper choices and time between jobs also affect an actual work session.
Letter, Legal and A4 have positive support in the ordinary main tray and automatic two-sided print path. That makes duplex contracts and office reports a supported routine rather than a guess from the word duplex alone. The 2.4-inch color LCD uses buttons and a numeric keypad; it is not a touchscreen, and it does not add color scanning, copying or faxing. This is explicitly a print-only color laser.
Choose the included tray or an expanded configuration
Standard input is stated as 250+1 on the 20-pound or 75-gsm paper basis. The one-sheet slot provides an occasional alternate feed rather than a second useful paper stack. The original guide tells you to match paper size and type at the panel and load within the tray's fill marks. Suitable envelopes follow their own one-sided loading instructions; automatic document duplex does not extend to them.
The optional 650-sheet duo assembly combines a 550-sheet drawer with a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. That takes the documented maximum to 900+1. It is not supplied with the normal printer, and the larger C2535 arrangement should not be assumed here. Lexmark recommends 800–6,500 printed pages per month. The separate 75,000-page duty ceiling is a robustness comparison, not the ordinary monthly planning target.
Use the right connection for the job
The C2425dw includes a USB Type-B computer interface, gigabit Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. A front USB Type-A port is for the documented walk-up flash-drive routine, not another host-computer cable. Choose Ethernet when a stable wired shared network is available, or infrastructure Wi-Fi when running that cable is inconvenient. Confirm coverage and network permissions in the intended location.
AirPrint and Mopria are documented network printing options. A phone using the office wireless network and a printer on Ethernet can therefore be part of the same suitable network arrangement; a direct USB cable does not create that arrangement. Confidential jobs use compatible Print and Hold or Job Routing software, a four-digit PIN and release at the printer. Verify that your driver exposes that workflow instead of assuming every mobile print button supplies it.
Supplies and the practical decision
The documented supplied cartridges are rated at 1,400 black pages and 750 pages for each color under ISO/IEC 19798. Exact US higher-yield replacements include C241XK0 black at 6,000 pages and C241XC0, C241XM0 and C241XY0 colors at 3,500 each. Those are declared yields rather than current cost calculations. Match region and Return Program conditions, and distinguish toner from imaging, developer and waste components.
The body measures 17.4 inches wide, 16.6 deep and 12.1 high at 46 pounds. Allow additional room for paper handling and access, and check the actual electrical label and cord. Choose this configuration for moderate shared color output with included wireless access. If the deciding requirement is scanning originals or a large included paper stack, compare machines that actually supply that hardware rather than pricing optional expansion as standard.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker maximum 25 one-sided Letter pages/minute black or color, separately 12.5 Letter sides/minute automatic duplex; no hands-on measurements.
Paper handling
Included 250-sheet tray plus one-sheet manual feed at 20 lb/75 gsm; per-size main stack 250. Letter, Legal and A4 support automatic print duplex. One optional 650-sheet duo expands maximum to 900+1; no optional 550-only lower drawer is included or assumed. Envelopes use the separate one-sided instructed feed routine.
Scanning arrangement
Explicitly print-only color laser hardware. No scanner, copier, analog fax or document feeder; a color screen and generic software/help names do not supply scanning hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB Type-B computer port, gigabit Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. Front Type-A flash-drive input is a separate function. AirPrint/Mopria need suitable shared networking. Optional N8372 card does not negate the explicitly standard Wi-Fi radio or establish standard 802.11ac.
Supplies and declared yields
Supplied toner declared at 1,400 black and 750 each CMY pages under ISO/IEC 19798. US C241XK0 black 6,000 and C241XC0/C241XM0/C241XY0 colors 3,500 replacement yields; C2535 8,000-page black is not substituted. Imaging/developer/waste components are separate. Geographic and Return Program conditions apply.
Software and support
Exact model page supports AirPrint and Mopria over a suitable shared network. Original guide pages 42–44 document four-digit confidential PIN jobs from compatible Print and Hold/Job Routing software and panel release, including non-touchscreen controls. Verify current driver/app compatibility; old cloud listings are not present service promises.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US part is documented; nominal electrical input was not established in the read printer sources. Check the actual unit rating label and correct cord. Body dimensions exclude paper extensions, open doors and maintenance access.
