Lexmark C510n manufacturer product reference; additional input drawers and optional hardware are separate. Lexmark
A useful fit for

An existing wired commercial setup needing color computer printing and local confidential release on Letter or A4 stock.

The main tradeoff

The n suffix adds included Ethernet, while Legal paper, automatic duplex and expanded input still require separate hardware.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the included Ethernet configuration print color A4 pages with local PIN release and 250 ordinary input sheets?

Yes with compatible Lexmark custom software and the correct tray settings. The n package includes 10/100 Ethernet, and the documented confidential routine uses a four-digit PIN with digits 1–6.

Does included networking also make Legal paper part of the standard tray arrangement?

No. The ordinary included tray accepts Letter and A4; Legal requires the optional replacement tray 1. The optional 530-sheet drawer does not provide Legal support either.

Can a separately listed wireless adapter qualify this model as having included Wi-Fi?

No. The documented included computer paths are USB and 10/100 Ethernet. External wireless hardware is optional and needs its own configuration.

The network suffix changes connection hardware, not the paper package

The Lexmark C510n is an earlier color laser for a compatible wired office setup. US part 20K1200 includes USB, 10/100BaseTX Ethernet and 128 MB of standard memory. That included Ethernet distinguishes it from the base C510, whose network connection requires additional hardware.

The rest of the package needs separate attention. A 250-sheet ordinary-paper tray and 250-sheet output bin are included, while a Legal-size replacement tray, duplex unit and additional input drawer are optional. The n suffix does not make those options standard. This is a print-only machine, with no scanner, copying or fax capability.

Use the included network path with compatible software

Ethernet provides the documented wired computer-printing route; USB Type-B provides direct attachment. Verify the actual computer's driver and network support before depending on this discontinued model. A historical list of operating systems explains the original environment, rather than guaranteeing that the same setup works on a current computer.

The product's PCL and PostScript emulations are useful compatibility details, but they are not a complete installation plan. Check the software's available paper and job controls. Settings sent from the driver can override panel defaults, so a correct physical load still needs a matching job setup.

Parallel, serial and external wireless alternatives require separate hardware. Included Ethernet does not prove an internal Wi-Fi radio or current AirPrint and Mopria operation. If those mobile protocols are essential, choose a model with the exact supported network routine documented.

Release confidential jobs through the documented custom driver

The user reference describes a confidential-print routine using Lexmark custom software. Assign a four-digit PIN using digits 1–6 when sending the job. At the printer, select the user and confidential job, enter the same PIN and choose the release action.

The job is held in printer memory until it is printed or deleted. After release, the printed job is removed from that memory. An optional hard disk supports other storage and spooling tasks; the guide does not identify it as necessary for this ordinary PIN routine.

Check that the intended computer's driver actually exposes confidential printing. A job labeled confidential in a document title is different from one submitted through that held-job function. Administrative menu restrictions and the user's local release procedure also have different purposes.

Keep Legal paper and expanded input tied to the installed trays

The standard tray accepts ordinary Letter and A4 pages, with its 250-sheet capacity based on 75-gsm or 20-pound paper. Align the stack, adjust the guides and keep it below the load line. Ordinary simplex paper loads print side up, with a preprinted letterhead header toward the rear.

Legal and Folio require the optional longer tray 1. It replaces the standard tray; both tray 1 versions cannot be installed simultaneously. The optional 530-sheet drawer does not accept Legal, so the 780-sheet family maximum cannot simply be assigned to a Legal-paper routine.

Automatic two-sided printing separately needs the optional duplex unit. Verify its presence and the chosen source before planning that workflow. For occasional envelopes, replace tray 1's ordinary stock with the supported envelope load. The guide recommends 10 envelopes, or seven under high heat or humidity, with its stack-aid tabs and flap-down orientation. Envelope support does not establish duplex for envelopes.

Check color workload expectations and separate service items

Lexmark declares up to 30 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black and eight in color. These distinct rates matter when comparing a mostly monochrome workload with regular color documents. They do not establish a recommended monthly range, which remains unconfirmed.

The US starter toner set declares 1,500 pages per color. Replacements declare 5,000 or 10,000 black pages and 3,000 or 6,600 CMY pages at approximately 5% coverage per color. Keep that older measurement basis distinct from an ISO/IEC 19798 declaration.

The photodeveloper, waste toner bottle and fuser are separate maintenance items. Match the fuser to the actual voltage edition and inspect storage and service history. This discontinued Class A unit weighs 67 pounds and needs suitable support and operating clearance. A current supported network printer is the clearer alternative when modern software, mobile printing or automatic duplex must work without assembling an older optional configuration.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Maker maximum 30 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black and 8 in color. Color and monochrome rates are distinct; no automatic-duplex speed, recommended monthly range or maximum duty rating is established.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet ordinary Letter-size tray supports Letter and A4 on the 75 gsm/20 lb capacity basis. Legal needs an optional replacement tray 1, not another included drawer; the optional 530-sheet drawer does not accept Legal. A duplex unit is optional and excluded from included plans. Output is 250 sheets and maximum 780 input requires options. Envelopes use a separate tray 1 load, with 10 recommended or 7 in high heat/humidity.

Scanning arrangement

The C510n is a print-only color laser with no scanner, copier, fax, scanner glass or document ADF.

Computer and mobile connections

The exact n package includes USB Type-B and 10/100BaseTX Ethernet. Parallel, serial and external wireless alternatives require separate hardware. The base C510 has a different standard port configuration. AirPrint and Mopria are unestablished, so included Ethernet is not treated as proof of modern mobile protocols.

Supplies and declared yields

US supplied toner declares 1,500 pages each in black and CMY. Replacements declare 5,000 or 10,000 black and 3,000 or 6,600 CMY at approximately 5% coverage per color, not an ISO/IEC 19798 declaration. Separate service items include photodeveloper 20K0504, waste bottle 20K0505 and fuser 20K0506 or 20K0507 for different voltage editions.

Software and support

The exact n package has 128 MB standard memory, expandable to 320 MB. Compatible Lexmark custom software supports confidential print jobs held in printer memory with a four-digit PIN using digits 1–6, then locally released or deleted. Optional hard-disk storage/spooling is separate. Verify current driver and network support rather than relying only on the historical operating-system list.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier discontinued Class A commercial model. The 67 lb body needs suitable support and additional loading/service access. Verify exact installed trays, duplex unit if present, voltage label, supply condition and compatible software. Nominal mains input and recommended recurring monthly workload are unknown.
