The Lexmark C748de combines a 4.3-inch color touchscreen with USB, gigabit Ethernet and automatic duplex. US part 41H0050 fits a commercial wired team working within the maker's 2,500–10,000 recommended monthly pages. It declares up to 35 one-sided Letter pages per minute in either black or color.

The touchscreen changes local navigation, settings and held-job access. It does not add a scanner, copier or fax. The exact US page also carries a commercial-use notice and says this model is not intended for residential environments. Check the offered unit's label and the intended location rather than selecting it solely from a body-size comparison.

Make ordinary paper feeding match the job

The supplied input consists of a 550-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder, totaling 650 ordinary sheets at the 75-gsm or 20-pound basis. The original tables explicitly support Letter, Legal and A4 in both sources and the automatic-duplex path. Match the guides, actual paper and panel/driver size and type settings.

For combined ordinary feeding, use matching stock and settings and Cassette mode for the multipurpose feeder. If that feeder carries envelopes or another special stock, its ordinary load has been replaced. Keep those jobs and settings distinct so a report does not unexpectedly use different paper.

Suitable envelopes follow the instructed one-sided multipurpose routine, with a stated capacity of ten. They do not use duplex. Extra trays and the 4,300-sheet input maximum require optional hardware and appropriate support furniture. The separate 300-sheet output bin can need collecting before a full input load has finished.

Set duplex and release confidential jobs through compatible software

Use the documented Windows or Macintosh computer printing settings to choose two-sided output and binding direction. Check preprinted letterhead orientation and a short example before a larger report. The separate black Letter duplex declaration is 23 sides per minute; a color duplex rate is not established here. Neither that rate nor the 35-ppm one-sided declaration is a measured completion time for every file.

Compatible Windows Print and Hold or Macintosh Job Routing software can submit a confidential job with a user name and four-digit PIN. Select it from Held Jobs at the touchscreen and enter the PIN to release it. Jobs occupy printer memory and can be deleted under memory pressure. The separate Job Waiting feature requires a working optional hard disk.

The screen's status and supply menus are useful for checking the configured printer. Verify installed options and current software compatibility rather than assuming a family feature is included. Black Only and Max Speed/Max Yield have different purposes, and frequent switching between black and color modes can affect output rate.

Use AirPrint as its own network arrangement

The exact manufacturer specification lists AirPrint and included Ethernet. Apple's instructions support wired network printing when the Apple device and printer share the appropriate network and the app offers printing. Basic AirPrint therefore need not imply that the optional printer Wi-Fi radio has been installed.

The reviewed AirPrint arrangement does not establish specific mobile paper sizes, duplex choices or confidential PIN submission. Confirm actual firmware, discovery and app options for those requirements. The desktop driver provides its own documented routines; it should not be assumed that every option carries over to a mobile print dialog. Mopria remains unestablished here.

USB Type-B is the local computer interface. The front Type-A host port supports the documented flash-drive routine, with suitable file and device formats. A rear host socket does not by itself establish the same flash-drive workflow, and neither port supplies paper capture.

Inspect the higher-yield supplies and remaining components

The original US supplied toner declares 12,000 black and 10,000 composite CMY pages. Replacement declarations are 12,000 black and 7,000 or 10,000 CMY under ISO/IEC 19798 on the maker's continuous one-sided basis. The guide restricts the 10,000-page CMY cartridges to C748 models. Confirm exact cartridge and program conditions.

Separate photoconductors, the waste toner bottle, fuser and transfer module also need condition checks, including the correct fuser voltage. The 100,000-page maximum monthly duty figure does not replace the recommended 10,000-page ceiling. Lexmark marks this 56.4-pound printer discontinued. Check its electrical label, proper cord, software and physical condition, with space for open paper paths and servicing. A documented multifunction or wireless alternative is useful when either would simplify the work area.
