A useful fit for

An 800–6,000-page monthly color workgroup needing compatible-driver confidential release and accepting one-sided output.

The main tradeoff

The color LCD is not a touchscreen; Wi-Fi and expanded input are optional, and automatic duplex is absent on this n variant.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I share color Letter printing over Ethernet with PIN release at 5,000 monthly pages and 250 included Letter sheets?

Yes with earlier references enabled, compatible Print and Hold software and the documented panel-release routine. The recommended maximum is 6,000 pages and the main drawer holds 250.

Can I automatically print both sides of an A4 report on this n variant?

No. The exact features and Duplex specification both say automatic two-sided printing is unavailable.

Does the color screen let me scan color originals into a computer?

No. The screen controls a print-only color engine; there is no paper scanner.

Shared color printing with a one-sided limit

The Lexmark CS410n is an earlier workgroup color printer with a useful confidential-job routine and a declared 32-ppm Letter output rate. Its exact US part is 28D0000. It belongs on a shortlist only when ordinary one-sided output is acceptable: the manufacturer explicitly says that automatic two-sided printing is not available on this n configuration.

That suffix matters when reading family manuals or looking at offers for similar CS410 variants. A manual may explain a duplex path for other configurations, but it cannot supply that hardware to this model. Lexmark marks the CS410n discontinued, so verify the actual unit, included equipment, regional consumables and current software before relying on any earlier product reference.

PIN release is a workflow, not just a security label

The scoped CS410 guide documents confidential printing through compatible Print and Hold software. A PIN is set at the computer using four digits, and the user releases the held job at the printer. Ordinary held jobs can use memory; an optional hard disk is not a prerequisite for that documented routine. This is more specific evidence than a general claim that the product has security features.

Check the intended driver and application, and use the printer's actual 2.4-inch LCD and buttons for release. The color display is not a touchscreen. A generic phone print button should not be assumed to submit the same confidential job. Likewise, a card reader or other accessory in a catalogue is not automatically part of the standard protected-printing arrangement.

Read the speed and workload in their proper roles

Black and color one-sided output are both declared at up to 32 Letter pages per minute. These are manufacturer ratings, not measured performance from this article. The guide's Max Speed and Max Yield settings also explain that frequent switching between black and color can affect output when mixed content is processed. They do not prove a measured quality or running-cost advantage.

The monthly recommendation is 800–6,000 printed pages. Maximum monthly duty is separately 75,000 pages. Use the recommendation for an ordinary workload, rather than stretching routine expectations to the duty figure. If automatic double-sided documents are essential, neither speed nor a larger paper accessory resolves this variant's missing duplex hardware.

Paper input starts with one ordinary stack

The base package supplies a 250-sheet drawer and one-sheet manual feeder, quoted as 250+1 sheets at the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 have positive support in the drawer. The manual feeder is a separate occasional-sheet routine, rather than another ordinary 250-sheet stack. Suitable envelopes use that one-sided path, with their size and type settings matched to the actual media.

Optional input can take the configuration to 1,450+1 sheets using the duo assembly and an additional drawer. The duo itself combines a 550-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. Those inputs are separate hardware, and multiple-input installations need the guide's supported stability arrangement. Confirm the real installed options in both the package and driver instead of counting the published maximum as included capacity.

Connections, consumables and physical fit

USB Type-B connects to a computer, while a front Type-A interface supports separate documented routines. The standard network interface is 10/100BaseTX; compatibility with a 1000Base-T network does not make the printer's port gigabit. Wireless requires an optional MarkNet adapter. The guide documents AirPrint and Mopria on a suitable shared network, which remains distinct from a USB-only computer connection.

Supplied US toner is declared at 1,400 pages for black and each color. Higher-yield US replacements include 70C1HK0 black at 4,000 pages and 70C1HC0, 70C1HM0 and 70C1HY0 colors at 3,000 each under ISO/IEC 19798. Region restrictions and Return Program conditions apply; imaging and developer components remain separate. Declared yields alone do not establish present cost per page.

The CS410n is print-only hardware with no scanner, copier or fax. Its body is 17.4 inches wide, 16.0 deep and 11.5 high at 45.2 pounds. Allow working access and extended guides, and inspect the actual electrical label and proper cord. Its strongest supported arrangement is wired color output with compatible PIN release when duplex is not required.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared maximum 32 one-sided Letter pages/minute, black or color. Exact n model has no automatic print duplex. Specialty media and mixed color-mode processing have separate conditions.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet main drawer plus a one-sheet manual feeder: 250+1 headline sheets at 20 lb/75 gsm, with a 250-sheet ordinary main stack. Letter/Legal/A4 support the drawer. Suitable envelopes use the separate one-sided manual-feed routine. Optional input is not included. Optional 650-sheet duo assembly plus lower 550-sheet drawer can reach 1,450+1 input; neither is included. Multiple input options require the guide-supported stability arrangement.

Scanning arrangement

Explicitly print-only color laser hardware. No paper scanner, document feeder, copier or fax. A control screen and generic print/scan software names do not supply capture hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB Type-B computer interface and wired Ethernet. Wireless requires a separate MarkNet option; no included Wi-Fi Direct arrangement is established. AirPrint/Mopria use the documented suitable shared-network arrangement, not a USB-only computer cable.

Supplies and declared yields

US supplied black/cyan/magenta/yellow toner each declared at 1,400 pages. US replacements include 70C1HK0 black at 4,000 pages and 70C1HC0/70C1HM0/70C1HY0 cyan/magenta/yellow at 3,000 each. Declared continuous black/composite-color yields under ISO/IEC 19798, not measured costs. Match the geographical cartridge restriction and Return Program terms. Imaging/developer components are separate, with estimates depending on stated job and coverage assumptions.

Software and support

Compatible Print and Hold submission supports a computer-set four-digit PIN and release through Held Jobs at the printer. Ordinary protected jobs use memory; an optional disk is not required for that routine. Check current driver/application support; generic mobile submission need not create the same protected job.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier US reference; verify actual regional part, included hardware and current software. Nominal mains input is unestablished, so inspect the actual electrical label and proper cord. Body dimensions exclude loading/service access and extended paper guides.
