A useful fit for

An 800–6,000-page monthly workgroup needing two-sided document capture, copying and configured analog fax while accepting one-sided output.

The main tradeoff

Reversing ADF scanning is not single-pass, and its duplex scanner does not provide automatic two-sided printing.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I use Ethernet for color print/scan/copy, scan both sides of Legal originals automatically and use fax at 5,000 monthly pages?

Yes with earlier references enabled, suitable computer software and the additional configured analog phone service. The reversing ADF supports Legal; fax is a separate phone-line function.

Does its duplex scanner mean it automatically prints both sides of a Letter report?

No. Exact print duplex is explicitly unavailable on CX410e, even though the ADF automatically reverses originals for scanning.

Will it scan both document sides in a single pass?

No. The exact scanner type is a reversing duplex ADF, which is different from single-pass capture.

A duplex scanner inside a one-sided printer configuration

The Lexmark CX410e demonstrates why a single word such as duplex is insufficient when comparing office MFPs. Exact US part 28D0500 has a 50-sheet reversing duplex automatic document feeder, yet its automatic print-duplex field says Not Available. It can automatically capture both sides of suitable originals while still lacking automatic two-sided output.

That combination can fit a workgroup receiving two-sided paperwork but producing ordinary one-sided color documents. It misses a requirement for automatically duplexed outgoing reports. Lexmark marks the model discontinued, so check the actual regional machine, installed equipment, software and condition before relying on this earlier reference.

The feeder and glass have different jobs

The RADF reverses documents to scan their second face. It is not a single-pass scanner. Letter, Legal and A4 have positive support through the feeder, whereas the glass supports Letter and A4 but excludes Legal. A general maximum scan-area headline should not be used to describe both physical routes as equally large.

The guide directs ordinary multipage documents to the feeder, with appropriate guides and media, while books, photos, small items and thin originals belong on the glass. Declared simplex scanning is up to 32 Letter sides per minute or 30 A4 sides per minute for black or color. Reversing duplex scanning is separately 14 Letter or 13 A4 sides per minute. Those scan declarations do not establish printer throughput or a single-pass mechanism.

Computer scanning and fax use specific arrangements

The US specification explicitly supports scanning to a USB or network-connected computer. The original guide describes a network profile with a selected output location and shortcut, as well as a separately conditioned Scan to Computer setup. Confirm that the current computer, driver and application environment supports the chosen workflow instead of relying on a generic multifunction software name.

Analog fax hardware is declared at 33.6 kbps. It needs the separate LINE connection to a suitable active analog telephone service, plus fax identity, number and answer settings. Ethernet or USB supplies the computer print/scan connection; it does not itself carry that analog fax. A fax checkbox therefore depends on the documented telephone setup, not an assumption about any office VoIP service.

Output and paper capacity remain modest

Maximum one-sided Letter printing is declared at 32 pages per minute in black or color. The recommended monthly print range is 800–6,000 pages, distinct from the 75,000-page maximum duty figure. These are manufacturer declarations rather than test results from this article. A work queue with short submissions, complex pages or special media can differ from a continuous engine-speed rating.

The standard paper package is a 250-sheet drawer and one-sheet manual feeder, quoted as 250+1 at the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 support the main stack. Suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided manual routine. Optional input can reach 1,450+1 through a duo assembly and another drawer, but those accessories are not included. More input also cannot create the missing print-duplex mechanism.

Sharing, PIN release and consumables

Included connections are USB Type-B for a computer, gigabit Ethernet and a front Type-A interface for separate supported tasks. Wi-Fi requires an optional MarkNet adapter. AirPrint and Mopria are documented for a suitable shared network with compatible devices, while a USB-only computer cable does not provide network mobile printing. The 4.3-inch touchscreen controls the actual routines rather than changing the scanner's size limits.

Compatible Print and Hold submission can use a computer-set four-digit PIN followed by Held Jobs release at the printer. Ordinary protected jobs use memory without an optional disk being required. Verify the intended submission software; a generic mobile print button need not create that same confidential job.

Supplied US toner is declared at 1,400 pages for black and each color. Specific higher-yield replacements include 80C1HK0 black at 4,000 pages and 80C1HC0, 80C1HM0 and 80C1HY0 colors at 3,000 each under ISO/IEC 19798. Regional restrictions, Return Program terms and separate imaging/developer components matter. Allow scanner and paper access around the 17.48-by-21.99-by-18.44-inch body, check the actual electrical label and cord, and choose this configuration only when its distinct output and capture limits fit.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Manufacturer maximum 32 one-sided Letter print pages/minute in black/color; automatic print duplex is unavailable. Simplex scanning is separately 32 Letter or 30 A4 sides/minute, black/color; reversing duplex scanning is 14 Letter or 13 A4 sides/minute.

Paper handling

Base input is a 250-sheet drawer plus one-sheet manual feed, quoted as 250+1 at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter/Legal/A4 support the main drawer; per-size ordinary stack is 250. Suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided manual routine. Optional paper hardware is not included. Optional 650-sheet duo assembly and further 550-sheet drawer can reach 1,450+1 input; neither is included.

Scanning arrangement

Included 50-sheet RADF physically reverses originals for automatic two-sided scanning; it is not single-pass. Letter/Legal/A4 support the feeder, while the glass supports Letter/A4 but explicitly not Legal. Exact US page names USB or network computer scanning. Included analog fax hardware is declared at 33.6 kbps. It requires the separate LINE connection to a suitable active analog phone service and fax name/number/answer setup. Ethernet or USB computer printing/scanning does not itself transport analog fax, and generic VoIP compatibility is not promised.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB Type-B computer connection and gigabit Ethernet, with USB or network computer scanning explicitly named in the exact US specification. Wireless requires a separate MarkNet option. AirPrint/Mopria use a suitable shared network; a USB-only computer cable does not borrow mobile networking. No included Wi-Fi Direct arrangement is established.

Supplies and declared yields

US supplied CMYK toner each declared at 1,400 pages. US replacements include 80C1HK0 black at 4,000 pages and 80C1HC0/80C1HM0/80C1HY0 cyan/magenta/yellow at 3,000 each. ISO/IEC 19798 yields are declarations, not current printing costs. Match geographical restrictions and Return Program terms, keeping imaging/developer components separate.

Software and support

The exact scoped guide documents compatible Print and Hold, a computer-set four-digit PIN and Held Jobs panel release. Ordinary protected jobs use memory; an optional disk is not required for that routine. Check current driver/application/firmware support, since a generic mobile print button need not submit an equivalent protected job.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier exact US reference. Verify actual part, regional supplies and current compatible software. Nominal mains input is not established; inspect the real electrical label and proper cord. Body measurements exclude scanner access, loading/service clearance and extended guides.
