Lexmark CX825dte: color single-pass capture with three included paper drawers review

A large color MFP with a substantial included paper package

The Lexmark CX825dte suits an earlier commercial workgroup that wants color output, multipage capture and fewer ordinary-paper reloads. US part 42K0041 includes a 10-inch-class touchscreen, a hard disk, a 150-sheet single-pass document feeder and a caster base. Its recommended monthly range is 3,000–30,000 pages.

The dte configuration matters. It adds two 550-sheet drawers to the base 550-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder, providing 1,750 ordinary input sheets. Finishing equipment remains optional. A used machine should be checked against that actual package, rather than assuming every tower shown in a family illustration has the same drawers or output hardware.

Use single-pass capture for ordinary multipage originals

The DADF captures both sides in a single pass. Letter, Legal and A4 are explicitly supported in the feeder. Load aligned originals faceup and adjust the guides before starting a batch. The 150-sheet original load is independent of the printer's paper drawers and output bin.

Use the glass for books, individual pages, photos, small items and fragile material. Place the original facedown at the marked corner. Check its actual dimensions against the original you need to capture: the general maximum scan area and Legal-capable ADF do not separately establish a Legal-size glass route.

The exact specifications support scans to USB-connected or network-connected computers. Use compatible capture software or the documented Scan Profiles routine. A network-folder shortcut separately needs the receiving folder and access settings. Flash-drive capture is another local destination; it does not install or validate the receiving computer's software.

Match the three drawers to the intended stock

Letter, Legal and A4 fit the included 550-sheet drawers, multipurpose feeder and automatic-duplex path. The 1,750-sheet total uses the maker's 75-gsm or 20-pound ordinary-paper basis. Load each drawer separately, stay below fill marks and match the configured size and type to its actual stock.

For a shared stock, match source settings and enable automatic tray linking. For different stocks, keep their settings distinct. The multipurpose feeder requires its size to be set deliberately. Envelopes use a separate one-sided MP load; the optional envelope tray is not another included drawer. Heavy, recycled and short-grain media have additional weight and duplex conditions, so the broad media list is not an unrestricted thick-stock duplex promise.

The standard output bin holds 500 sheets. A longer run still needs collection, even when ample input remains. Maximum 4,500-sheet input and 1,950-sheet output require appropriate optional equipment. A staple or staple/punch finisher must be verified separately.

Keep computer security, mobile printing and fax on clear paths

USB Type-B and gigabit Ethernet provide the ordinary computer connections. Compatible Windows Print and Hold or Macintosh Job Routing can assign a username and four-digit PIN for local confidential release. Set expiration and invalid-PIN policies to suit the office. The hard disk is included in this exact dte package, unlike configurations where storage is optional.

AirPrint and Mopria provide documented basic printing from compatible mobile devices on a suitable shared network. The printer may remain wired by Ethernet. Wireless hardware is optional, and basic mobile output does not promise the computer driver's scanning, PIN or exact media controls.

Analog fax separately requires an active compatible telephone line connected to LINE and configured fax identity. SMTP fax-server or cloud-connector arrangements require their own service and settings. They should not be treated as an automatic substitute for that phone connection.

Plan volume, supplies and the physical installation together

Lexmark declares 55 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black or color, with a separate 55 black Letter duplex sides per minute. Letter scanner rates are separately 60 simplex or 120 duplex sides per minute. The 250,000-page maximum monthly duty rating is not the recommended 30,000-page recurring ceiling.

The supplied US toners declare 8,000 black and 17,000 per CMY. Replacement choices include 8,000 CMYK, 17,000 CMY, 33,000 black and 22,000 CMY under ISO/IEC 19798 conditions. The separate 175,000-page photoconductor and 300,000-page developer estimates use three-page Letter/A4 jobs at approximately 5% coverage. Confirm regional cartridges, waste container and maintenance history; CX860 ultra-high-yield supplies do not transfer to this model.

This discontinued Class A commercial package weighs 288.9 pounds. Keep the correct caster base and stability provisions, allow operating and service access, and verify the actual electrical label and compatible software before returning it to work.
