Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can USB supply A4 printing from 250 included sheets and a 22-ppm Letter declaration, plus occasional envelopes?
Yes with compatible printer software. A4 capacity is 250 ordinary sheets and Letter speed is separately 22 ppm; suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided manual-feed routine.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its engine meet a selected 25-ppm one-sided Letter minimum?
No. The exact E232 maximum declaration is 22 Letter pages per minute. A faster neighboring E-series model is a different printer.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the supplied printer connect directly to Ethernet?
No included Ethernet arrangement is established. Standard ports are local USB and parallel; listed external network servers are optional equipment.

The Lexmark E232 is a monochrome laser printer with a supplied 250-sheet drawer and local USB and parallel interfaces. US part 22S0200 fits a computer desk that mainly produces one-sided documents. Lexmark declares up to 22 one-sided Letter pages per minute and a separate 21-ppm A4 figure.
The main tradeoff is the amount of work left to the user. There is no included network interface or automatic print-duplex mechanism. A two-sided job follows a manual reload sequence, while scanning, copying and fax require other hardware. This is a printer for files already on the computer, not a paper-capture device.
Choose the supplied paper path before adding capacity
The original media table supports Letter, Legal and A4 in the ordinary 250-sheet drawer at the maker's 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Use it for normal stacks and adjust the guides to the load. Match the selected size and media type in computer software; an old printer queue may still contain settings for a previous paper routine.
Legal or Folio requires extending the tray and allowing room at the rear. Use the dust cover if supplied and ensure the extension locks into position. The closed-body depth is not the full clearance needed to load long paper, open the rear path or service the printer.
The one-sheet manual feeder is useful for an occasional different sheet or suitable envelope without emptying the main drawer. Choose the manual source and correct settings, send the job, then feed the item at the prompt. Let the mechanism engage without forcing it. Envelopes follow the instructed one-sided routine and need suitable laser-compatible stock.
The optional 550-sheet drawer is required to reach the advertised 800-sheet maximum. It does not increase the supplied capacity until the correct hardware is actually installed. The top output bin's 150-sheet figure is separate from input capacity.
Understand the manual second pass
The original guide describes printing alternate pages first, waiting for the paper and Continue signals, then reloading the stack for the back sides. Tray 1 supplies the second pass even if an optional drawer supplied the first. Follow the stated orientation and binding direction, and check page order on a short document before attempting a larger bundle.
That sequence does not qualify as automatic duplex. Someone must be present to handle the paper. A driver setting called two-sided also does not establish an internal sheet-turning mechanism. If frequent reports must finish unattended, compare a printer whose exact model explicitly includes automatic duplex.
Work with the E232's own software features
The exact E232 lists PCL 6 emulation and a limited Macintosh font provision. A reference to PostScript fonts for Mac is not the same as supplying the fuller PostScript emulation of another family variant. Verify the actual driver, intended operating system and important application files before buying an earlier unit for a different environment.
The panel uses five lights and two buttons. Its combinations distinguish readiness, paper prompts, toner, photoconductor and error conditions. Keep the relevant guide available and use the compatible Local Printer Setup Utility for supported settings outside the normal driver. AirPrint, Mopria and confidential-job PIN release are not established here.
External Ethernet and other print servers appear as optional equipment. A locally shared USB printer also remains dependent on its host computer and configuration. Choose an explicitly supported network model if independent wired sharing is an everyday requirement.
Check workload and the two supply components
The exact page gives a maximum monthly figure of 10,000 pages without a separate recommended monthly range. Do not use that maximum as a recommendation for recurring work. Rated speed and cartridge yield are also not evidence of the condition or remaining life of an offered printer.
The original US starter toner declares 1,500 pages, while replacement toner declares 2,500 under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate photoconductor kit uses a 30,000-page declaration at approximately 5% coverage in the original guide. Inspect both components and confirm the exact supply region and Return Program conditions rather than assuming that every E-series cartridge is interchangeable.
Lexmark marks this 22-pound printer discontinued. Check its electrical label, appropriate cord, available software and physical condition, with enough room for tray extension and rear access. A documented network, duplex or multifunction model is the more suitable comparison when those functions would simplify the workday.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker maximum 22 one-sided Letter pages/minute versus 21 A4. Two-sided output requires the documented manual reload routine; no automatic-duplex mechanism or throughput is established.
Paper handling
Included 250-sheet drawer at 20 lb/75 gsm; Letter, Legal and A4 each fit the ordinary stack. Separate manual feed takes one item at a time, including suitable one-sided envelopes. Maximum 800 needs an optional 550-sheet drawer.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only monochrome laser hardware: no glass, document-scanning feeder, copying or fax. A paper-input drawer does not capture originals.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB Type-B and parallel local interfaces. External Ethernet and other print servers are optional. Exact E232 PCL 6 and limited Mac font listing do not establish the E332n’s Ethernet or full PostScript 3 emulation.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact US supplied Return Program starter toner declares 1,500 pages; replacement toner declares 2,500 under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate photoconductor’s 30,000-page guide declaration uses about 5% coverage. Match exact model, supply region and Return Program conditions.
Software and support
Five lights and two buttons communicate status. Compatible printer software and Local Printer Setup Utility control media and manual second-pass settings. Current OS, mobile protocols and confidential PIN release are unestablished.
Electrical edition and setup
Check actual electrical label, appropriate cord and offered condition; nominal mains input is unestablished. Allow rear clearance for Legal tray extension and the straight-through output path. The 10,000-page maximum does not establish a recommended monthly range.
