Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can USB print Legal pages automatically on both sides with 250 sheets loaded and 2,000 monthly pages?
Yes with compatible software and ordinary paper. The guide explicitly lists Legal duplex and the supplied Legal drawer capacity; the recommended monthly ceiling is 2,200 pages.
Explore this need in the finder →Does this exact d configuration include a wired network connection?
No included Ethernet arrangement is established. The standard ports are USB and parallel; the listed external network servers are optional equipment.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the 50,000 maximum monthly duty figure qualify 4,000 pages every month?
No. Its separate recommended monthly range stops at 2,200. A maximum-duty comparison does not establish suitability for that recurring workload.
Explore this need in the finder →A local printer with real automatic duplex
The Lexmark E250d is a monochrome laser printer for a computer desk where black-and-white output and automatic two-sided printing matter more than shared-network features. US part 33S0100 includes USB Type-B and parallel interfaces, a 250-sheet drawer and an integrated duplex mechanism. Its recommended workload is 250–2,200 printed pages per month.
The d configuration is important: it does not include the Ethernet interface of the E250dn. External network and wireless print servers appear as options, not supplied connections. It is also a print-only device. The paper drawer and manual slot cannot scan originals, make standalone copies or send a fax.
Set the driver for the document
The original guide explicitly permits automatic duplex on Letter, Legal, A4 and Folio paper. That is stronger evidence than simply finding Legal in a list of printable sizes. In compatible computer software, choose two-sided printing and the required long-edge or short-edge binding, then select the appropriate paper source and size.
Check a short document with text on both faces before committing a larger stack. Letterhead orientation changes with the printing arrangement, and an incorrect binding choice can turn the back of a page upside down. Other specialty media should follow their separate instructions rather than being sent through automatic duplex just because the printer can accept them in simplex.
Lexmark declares up to 30 one-sided Letter pages per minute, compared with 28 on A4. Automatic Letter duplex is separately rated at up to 14 sides per minute. These are different operating modes, and neither is a measured promise for a particular application, large graphic file or complete office job.
Use the drawer for stacks and the manual slot for exceptions
The supplied drawer holds 250 ordinary sheets at the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 each fit that capacity. For Legal paper, release the rear latch, extend the drawer and provide room behind the machine for the extension and dust cover. Adjust the guides and match the driver settings to the actual load.
The front manual feeder accepts one item at a time. It is useful for a sheet of different stock or an occasional suitable envelope without unloading the main drawer. Set the correct size and type, position the item as instructed and allow the feed mechanism to engage without forcing it. Envelopes use a one-sided routine and must meet the laser-media requirements.
The rear exit offers a straighter path for certain specialty media. Opening it changes where sheets emerge, so leave clear space behind the printer. The 800-sheet maximum input requires the optional 550-sheet drawer; it does not describe the supplied 250-sheet configuration. The separate output bin holds up to 150 ordinary sheets.
Understand the lights before something needs attention
The E250d uses five lights and two buttons rather than a text display. Light combinations communicate paper, toner, photoconductor and other conditions. Keep the original quick-reference information accessible, and use the computer's Local Printer Settings Utility where an adjustment is unavailable in the normal driver.
The exact d model lists PCL 5e and PCL 6 emulations. Do not assume it supplies the E250dn's additional PostScript support. Check the actual computer's printer software and application output before purchasing an earlier machine. AirPrint, Mopria and protected-job PIN release are not established features in this assessment.
Inspect supplies and condition together
The original US package includes a 1,500-page Return Program starter toner cartridge. Compatible US and Canadian E250A11A or E250A21A replacements declare 3,500 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate E250X22G photoconductor is rated at 30,000 pages on an approximately 5% coverage basis. These figures refer to different components and measurement conditions.
One useful maintenance detail is that the normal Toner Low light sequence does not appear with the 1,500-page starter cartridge. Inspect print output and installed supplies rather than relying only on that warning. A mismatched cartridge region is another documented error condition.
Lexmark marks this 25-pound printer discontinued. Check the electrical label, appropriate supplies, software support and physical condition, and allow operating access beyond the closed-body dimensions. Choose an E250dn when included wired sharing is necessary, or a newer explicitly documented model when wireless or mobile printing is essential.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker maximum 30 one-sided Letter pages/minute versus 28 A4; separately 14 Letter sides/minute in automatic print duplex. These are declared modes, not measured complete-job results.
Paper handling
Supplied 250-sheet drawer at 20 lb/75 gsm plus a separate one-sheet manual slot. Letter, Legal and A4 each fit the 250-sheet ordinary stack and automatic duplex. Maximum 800 needs the optional 550-sheet drawer. Envelopes are one-sided, one at a time through manual feed.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only monochrome hardware: no scanner glass, document feeder, copying or fax. Paper input is not an original-scanning feeder.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB Type-B and parallel computer interfaces. Ethernet and Wi-Fi need optional external print-server equipment; no network arrangement is included in this configuration. Exact E250d languages are PCL 5e/PCL 6, unlike the E250dn PostScript addition.
Supplies and declared yields
US supplied 1,500-page Return Program starter toner; E250A11A or E250A21A replacements declare 3,500 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. Separate E250X22G photoconductor declares 30,000 at about 5% coverage. Starter cartridge does not trigger the normal Toner Low light sequence.
Software and support
Computer printing and duplex settings require compatible driver software. The five-light/two-button panel uses light sequences and a Local Printer Settings Utility. Current OS, AirPrint/Mopria and job PIN-release compatibility are unestablished.
Electrical edition and setup
Check the offered unit’s electrical label and correct cord; nominal mains input is unestablished. Leave room for the extended Legal tray, rear exit, ventilation and servicing.
