A useful fit for

A directly connected workstation producing black-and-white reports within the maker-recommended 740–6,000-page monthly range.

The main tradeoff

Ethernet and Wi-Fi require separate external networking equipment; they are not standard features of this E360d.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can one USB-connected computer print two-sided Legal reports at 5,000 pages per month with 300 included sheets?

Yes, when earlier models are included. This print-only USB configuration combines supported Legal duplex, 300-sheet ordinary-paper capacity and a recommended maximum of 6,000 monthly pages.

Does this standard E360d provide a wired Ethernet port for office sharing?

No. The exact US standard ports are USB and parallel; the listed network print servers are optional accessories.

Can I use its automatic duplex function to scan two-sided Letter paperwork?

No. It is a print-only printer without a scanner or document feeder. Duplex here means printing both sides.

Start with the local connection

The Lexmark E360d makes sense as an earlier monochrome printer for a workstation that can connect by USB. Its useful combination is automatic two-sided printing, a 250-sheet everyday tray and a separate 50-sheet multipurpose feeder. The most important limit is the missing standard network interface: the E360d package is a local computer printer, while similarly named E360dn hardware adds Ethernet.

Lexmark's exact US reference is part 34S0400 and carries a discontinued notice. This article describes that documented configuration rather than claiming a currently stocked product or a newly supported operating system. When considering an existing or secondhand unit, establish the actual model, regional power label, included paper equipment and a working print driver before comparing its headline speed.

What the desktop document routine supports

The included computer connection is high-speed USB Type-B, with an IEEE 1284 parallel interface also listed. A USB cable is not included in the original US box specification. Network print servers appear in the accessory list; a seller offering one should identify the actual separate device and its setup. The standard configuration reviewed here has no Ethernet or Wi-Fi plan.

This distinction matters when several people share documents. A machine physically attached to one workstation is a different arrangement from a printer with its own Ethernet interface. The E360d's two-line grayscale display provides status and settings, but it does not create a mobile printing route. AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are not established in the read documentation. Verify the application and driver path on the intended computer instead of relying on an old software CD alone.

Automatic duplex, with separate speed and media limits

The manufacturer declares up to 40 one-sided Letter pages per minute. Automatic duplex is separately rated at 18 Letter sides per minute, so a two-sided manual should not be planned at the simplex rate. These are declared specifications, not measured results from testing for this article. An intermittent job also includes preparation and first-page time rather than only continuous engine speed.

Letter, Legal and A4 are positively supported through the ordinary input sources and automatic duplex path in the original paper table. The guide gives 60–90 gsm for the engine and duplex path and a wider 60–163 gsm range for the multipurpose feeder. Wider media-weight support at that feeder does not mean every stock can be printed on both sides automatically. The printer is explicitly print-only: there is no glass, document feeder, scan-to-computer function, copier or fax hardware.

Two inputs do not mean an included expansion drawer

The stated standard capacity is 300 ordinary sheets, combining the 250-sheet tray with the 50-sheet multipurpose source at the maker's 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. The second source can be useful for letterhead or occasional envelopes without replacing the main paper stack. Envelopes must follow the instructed one-sided multipurpose routine; they are excluded from the duplex path.

Lexmark also publishes an 850-sheet maximum. Reaching it requires the optional 550-sheet drawer. A 250-sheet drawer is another option, and only one additional drawer can be installed at a time. Check the actual equipment rather than crediting a bare E360d with either accessory. The recommended monthly range is 740–6,000 pages. The separate 80,000-page maximum duty figure should not be used as a target for continuous ordinary monthly work.

Check the consumables and the physical unit

The original supplied Return Program toner cartridge is declared at 2,300 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. US replacement examples include E260A11A at 3,500 pages and E360H11A at 9,000. The E260X22G photoconductor is a separate item with an up-to-30,000-page declaration. These distinctions help when checking a used unit's supply status, but neither yield nor an old cartridge listing establishes current running cost. Match the cartridge region and Return Program terms.

The body is 15.98 inches wide, 14.55 deep and 10.2 high and weighs 30.43 pounds. Allow extra operating space for paper, cables and access. The original technical reference distinguishes a nominal 110–127 V edition from higher-voltage versions, so confirm the actual label and correct cord. If local mono printing is the entire job, this configuration is coherent. For direct wired office sharing, compare the E360dn; for scanning or copying, compare actual multifunction hardware rather than another print-only suffix.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Maker maximum 40 one-sided Letter pages/minute. Automatic duplex has a separate 18 Letter sides/minute rating; these are declared specifications, not measured throughput.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet tray plus 50-sheet multipurpose source, 300 ordinary sheets at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter/Legal/A4 fit both included sources and the automatic duplex path. Only one optional 250- or 550-sheet drawer may be added; 850 is the expanded maximum. Envelopes are multipurpose, simplex only.

Scanning arrangement

Monochrome print-only hardware. Automatic print duplex does not add a scanner, copier, fax or document feeder.

Computer and mobile connections

Standard USB Type-B computer connection and IEEE 1284 parallel. Ethernet and wireless print servers are optional external accessories, so the standard plan includes neither Ethernet nor Wi-Fi. No AirPrint, Mopria or Wi-Fi Direct route is established.

Supplies and declared yields

Supplied Return Program toner is rated 2,300 ISO/IEC 19752 pages. Exact US replacements include E260A11A 3,500 and E360H11A 9,000 pages; E260X22G photoconductor is a separate up-to-30,000-page item. Cartridge region and program conditions matter.

Software and support

Use a compatible computer print driver. Historical operating-system, Bonjour, AppleTalk or IPP listings do not establish AirPrint or Mopria, and do not guarantee current software support.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US part 34S0400 and technical-reference E360d row establish a regional nominal 110–127 V, 50–60 Hz version. Verify the actual label/cord for an imported or secondhand unit; higher-voltage editions are separate and converters/inverters are discouraged.
