A useful fit for

A small workgroup combining color reports with unattended two-sided Letter/A4 scanning and a 1,500–8,500-page recommended monthly routine.

The main tradeoff

The feeder reverses originals rather than scanning both sides in one pass, and the included paper input is 250 sheets plus a manual slot.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can an earlier color machine duplex Letter reports and scan both sides of Letter forms over Ethernet for 5,000 pages monthly?

Yes. The documented Ethernet arrangement combines automatic print duplex with a reversing duplex feeder and a recommended monthly maximum of 8,500 pages. It qualifies with earlier models enabled.

Does it capture both sides of an original in one pass?

No. The exact scanner specification says RADF, meaning reversing duplex. Select automatic duplex scanning without requiring single-pass if that method is acceptable.

Does the 85,000-page duty figure support a 9,000-page recommended monthly requirement?

No. The recommended monthly maximum is 8,500 pages. The larger maximum-duty figure cannot replace that recommendation.

A color workgroup printer with a distinct scanning tradeoff

The Lexmark MC2535adwe fits a small workgroup that prints color reports and regularly digitizes two-sided Letter or A4 paperwork. It combines print, copy, color scan and analog fax functions with included Ethernet and Wi-Fi. The key distinction is its reversing duplex automatic document feeder: it can capture both sides automatically, but it turns the original over rather than reading both sides in a single pass.

Lexmark's US page identifies part 42CC460 and explicitly marks it discontinued. That makes this an earlier-model assessment for an existing installation or a carefully checked offer. A surviving product page does not establish stock, warranty eligibility or current software compatibility. Confirm the exact regional unit and its condition before making a buying decision.

Size the document routine around the right figures

Lexmark rates one-sided Letter printing at up to 35 pages per minute in black or color under its stated ISO method. The separate duplex printing figure is 17.5 Letter sides per minute. These are manufacturer declarations, not results from a test performed for this assessment. They help identify the model's intended role without promising that every graphics-heavy report will run at the headline rate.

The scanner has a 50-sheet feeder and a flatbed. For Letter originals, the declared simplex scan figures reach 50 black or 32 color sides per minute, while reversing duplex scanning is rated at 23 black or 14 color sides per minute. The much larger simplex number should not be used to plan a two-sided color archiving job. Use the glass for a single delicate page or an item that should not be fed. Its documented maximum area is 8.5 by 11.7 inches; do not assume that Legal printing support means a Legal flatbed.

Use one complete connection arrangement

The standard computer interfaces are USB Type-B, gigabit Ethernet and built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. The front USB Type-A socket is a separate walk-up flash-media connection. Lexmark explicitly lists scanning to either a USB-connected or network-connected computer. On a shared network, its ScanBack procedure uses the printer's IP address and a computer scan profile, with both devices on the same network.

AirPrint and Mopria are supported network printing methods. They are useful when mobile devices can reach the printer through the office network, including a suitable network with existing wireless access. They do not make a direct USB cable into a mobile network connection. Likewise, an optional wireless accessory listed beside the printer should not obscure the basic Wi-Fi that the exact model already includes. Fax requires the appropriate separate analog telephone setup.

Included paper handling and expansion

The standard input is a 250-sheet tray plus a one-sheet manual feeder. The optional 650-sheet duo tray and 550-sheet tray shown in the brochure are additional equipment, not parts of the included 251-sheet headline. For a minimum stack capacity, count the main tray as 250 sheets. A manual slot is useful for an occasional special sheet but does not function like a second full paper drawer.

The original paper table supports Letter, Legal and A4 in the standard tray and the automatic print-duplex path. Envelopes require their own instructed feeding and media settings and are not duplex media. Lexmark recommends 1,500–8,500 pages per month. The separate 85,000-page maximum duty cycle does not support sizing an everyday 85,000-page monthly workload. Decide whether frequent refilling or buying compatible expansion equipment would be acceptable at your actual volume.

Check supplies and space before choosing it

The stated supplied toner yields are 3,000 black pages and 1,400 pages for each color under ISO/IEC 19798. Higher-yield US replacement options include C251UK0 black toner at a declared 8,000 pages and C241XC0, C241XM0 and C241XY0 color cartridges at 3,500 pages. Match the cartridge region and distinguish Return Program conditions from regular supplies. Yield declarations alone do not establish a current cost per page.

The body is 17.4 inches wide, 23.1 deep and 18.2 high and weighs 60 pounds. Leave additional operating and service space. Confirm the unit's electrical label rather than assuming that an imported machine shares the US edition's requirements. If fast unattended two-sided capture is the deciding task, compare an explicitly documented single-pass scanner; if originals are mostly single-sided and the workload is smaller, a more compact multifunction model may be easier to place.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 35 one-sided Letter pages/minute in black or color, ISO/IEC 24734; separate automatic duplex rate 17.5 Letter sides/minute. Reversing duplex scan rates are 23 black/14 color Letter sides/minute, not 50 for two-sided color scanning.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet input plus one-sheet manual feed, 20 lb/75 gsm basis; optional 650-sheet duo and 550-sheet tray are excluded. Exact-size map counts the standard 250-sheet stack. Letter, Legal and A4 automatic print duplex; envelopes use a separate simplex routine.

Scanning arrangement

50-sheet reversing duplex ADF, not single-pass. Letter and A4 simplex/duplex scan rates are positively specified. Glass maximum 8.5 × 11.7 inches supports Letter/A4; Legal is not assigned to the glass. Legal ADF route-size remains unconfirmed in this reading.

Computer and mobile connections

USB Type-B, gigabit Ethernet and built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. Original scan destinations explicitly include USB- or network-connected computers. AirPrint/Mopria are network printing routes; optional N8372 is not needed to establish the already included basic Wi-Fi.

Supplies and declared yields

Supplied 3,000 black/1,400 each CMY pages; ISO/IEC 19798 declared yield. US replacements include C251UK0 black 8,000 and C241XC0/C241XM0/C241XY0 color 3,500. Geographic cartridge compatibility and Return Program conditions apply.

Software and support

Check compatible present drivers and scanning utilities. Historical OS and cloud-service lists are not a guarantee of current support.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US part 42CC460 is established, but the read sources do not state its nominal input voltage directly. Check the actual unit electrical label and matching regional fuser; do not assume a universal-voltage import.
